PS To OYBBK thank you! I came here tonight just for your weather eye!

mole1 · 17/12/2010 21:52

Wilf, they said on the news to just stay at home!

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 17/12/2010 21:54

:) paperclips. I'll keep updating. Hopefully tomorrow it will be much easier to get a handle on Sunday's weather once we've seen which model has the best handle on tomorrow's low. I think you are in one of the better parts of the country under the current models.

paperclips28mm · 17/12/2010 21:56

For Sunday or tomorrow? I should have been clearer - we're supposed to go tomorrow but not come back till Sunday. Is Sunday looking better than Saturday?

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 17/12/2010 21:56

Wilf advice to the bottom of this thread

staying at home as mole says is by far the best option - another 20cm possible for NI

paperclips28mm · 17/12/2010 21:58

I have trouble travelling light as is - if I try to pack for snow I practically implement my full zombie plan (the portable elements)!

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 17/12/2010 21:58

paperclips - lates model just about out. going to look :)

WilfShelf · 17/12/2010 22:01

Not that I'm in NI, mind, just in case you were worrying about me, though I'm sure lots of people reading MN are...

It's almost exciting to have a red warning

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 17/12/2010 22:04

ok paperclips - if you can go very early tomorrow (like 7am early) then gfs has you in the clear (maybe even a little bit later). UKMO has you generally in the clear. Coming back, it gives you some light snow in the afternoon. I wouldnt leave it too late just cos of the uncertainty.

SantaClausImWorthIt · 17/12/2010 22:05

Ah, right - yes, - I get you OYSSK.

paperclips28mm · 17/12/2010 22:08

Hmmm that's a possibility - thanks!

TheUnmentioned · 17/12/2010 22:11

The other weather thread has got discussions of the day.

This was my one chance

No snow here yet...

OP posts:
nearlytoolate · 17/12/2010 22:12

Very much a non event here in ne England - am so far planning to go ahead with drive to east midlands tomorrow - bit more concerned about getting back on Sunday...

SantaClausImWorthIt · 17/12/2010 22:18

TheUnmentioned - but this is a far superior thread. It's quality not quantity that matters. Obviously.

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 17/12/2010 22:20

I know Unmentioned. I got the hump on your behalf. Your thread has loads more posts on it and was a very interesting one to start. We know which one deserves 'discussions of the day' Xmas Wink

nearlytoolate - I really haven't got a handle on the NE prospects atm. Will be updating in the morning with fresh model data if that is any help.

paperclips - you'll get there ridiculously early and then there won't be snow after all in your area. I know how these things go!

patienceplease · 17/12/2010 22:42

Theunmentioned - and on the other thread there were even people talking about snow who didn't know what graupel was...!
(could have been me 2 days ago!)

SuePurblybiltbyElves · 17/12/2010 22:46

And we have badges. Or I do anyway.

My graupel fell down my chimbley, as I mentioned, and had made wee graupelly black dots on my hearth. Does the other thread have that? I think not.

Lots of quality snow in Devon. I'm staying up late weather watching, drinking wine and charging my camera for snowman pics tomorrow.Anyone have a top hat?

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 17/12/2010 22:53

absolutely Sue.
I am off to bed now. What will the morning bring? Even now it is till 'up in the air'
sleep well all :)

WilfShelf · 17/12/2010 23:18

Ooooh. After on again off again on again off again snow predictions for us, we are now ON again as of 10.20... I think the NI dump is heading in our direction according to the Met Office.

I so want to go sledging and build snowmen tomorrow as every other bit of snow we've had has been a work day...

SuePurblybiltbyElves · 17/12/2010 23:36

Still snowing in Devon. I can't go to bed, am so excited.

I think OYBBK has turned me. Into a weather geek obv.Xmas Grin

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 17/12/2010 23:43

It's still not snowing in Barnstaple, Sue. How come you have all the luck?
I am going to bed now, and there had better be some snow in the morning. Xmas Grin

SuePurblybiltbyElves · 17/12/2010 23:47

LadyGlen, do I know you I wonder? How many normal people can there be in Bple?Xmas Grin. I'm in one of those villages like South Molton that get weird amounts of snow/weird weather. I have a theory there's a channel between the moors.

It has stopped now, for a bit hopefully. I long for a snowman.

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 17/12/2010 23:53

Well if we don't know each other we should. But how do you know I'm normal?

SuePurblybiltbyElves · 17/12/2010 23:55

Well, in comparison praps Xmas Grin
Every year or so I try to muster a North Devon Mnetters meet-up, we have a current thread in local. We are few and far between it seems.
