You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

Thanks Staff!

Not in this year for results day, as I've no exam classes. It took me about a week to stop ranting after last year's A level results day.

Staffholidayclubrep · 06/08/2021 22:44

Get ready for Tuesday 10 August 202. A-Level Results Day.

There will be tears of joy and tears of woe. Teachers will be blamed as there are no mutant algorithms this year.

Hello all & thanks @Staffholidayclubrep

Checking in to say hi. Out the loop as in new puppy world and probably not paying enough attention to work stuff!!!

Staffholidayclubrep · 06/08/2021 22:47

I am not going in either @DreamingofBrie.

I have no idea if the grades that went forwarded were actually the ones I said or if they were tweaked by SLT. Going to set an 'out of office' reply on as I am not willing to take part in this shit show.

I just want the students to have normal exams next year.

Thanks for the new thread staff. I hadn't realised how full the last one was.

I am not going in for either results day this year. I know there will be some very disappointed going people getting their A Level results, so I'm going nowhere near it. And the GCSEs, my set 2 are all coming back for sixth form and will be happy with their maths results anyway (they are very much as expected if they'd done proper exams). Set 5 will mostly be happy, and I would like to see them tbh as they aren't coming back to sixth form, they're off to do apprenticeships or college courses. We've been asked to stay away unless necessary anyway, so I won't go in even for them.

Morning all. Thanks Staff!

Piggywaspushed · 07/08/2021 05:52

Thanks staff. Checking in.

Saucery · 07/08/2021 06:28

Morning, thank you for opening another thread, Staff

Drop-in centre was offering vaccinations to over 16s near me, I’m sure I saw that on local social media. Will have to check.

Anyone involved in A Level grading this year, hats off to you, from a parent pov.

MrsHamlet · 07/08/2021 07:45

Thanks staff

PumpkinPie2016 · 07/08/2021 07:48

Morning all Smile Thanks for the new thread staff

I had both Y11 and Y13 so both getting results. Plus as assistant HoF, there is the wider faculty results to consider. Overall, I think students will be pleased. I know we were as rigorous and fair as possible.

We are doing results day remotely as we did last year so no going in but will have a few calls to make.

I am staying away from the media and their inevitable criticism though Sad

Bojo isn't isolating....

Debating whether or not to go in for gcse results - I’ve only a couple of students getting results this year, but one is resitting yr11 so I might go in for their slot (our students have an individual time to go in).

Cracklefraggle · 07/08/2021 08:16

Up to now our kids are collecting results in person. I'll be in both days armed with tissues and a socially distanced shoulder.

Our results were fair, kids got what they deserved - but that means some will be disappointed Sad

motherrunner · 07/08/2021 09:18

I’ll be in both days. We’re assigned to a zone and pupils are directed to different zones at different by ones to maintain distancing. Means I may not see my students unless they’re in my zone. I’ll be disappointed not to see my Yr 13s (amazing group of 9 girls. Will have 4*, 2 As, 2 Bs, 2 Cs). If I don’t see me Yr 11s I’ll be glad. Won’t have to put up with their whining. They were whingers before Covid!

Thanks staff ☺️

Mistressiggi · 07/08/2021 10:50

All our results were given out before they went on holiday. I think all Scottish schools did the same. So it's our first year ever with no results day. (Though I'm sure some are preparing for the appeals to start)

noblegiraffe · 07/08/2021 13:18

Thanks Staff

Maths didn't get picked for moderation at my school, those who were moderated, did any grades change?

MsAwesomeDragon · 07/08/2021 13:53

We were moderated in maths. None of our grades changed. But then, they don't ask for many, and the only one of our foundation pupils that they asked for was the one we graded as U. So I don't know how they can tell whether we've graded the rest of the foundation kids correctly.
