You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask

Ankle fractures can be hard to spot, even on X rays by professionals. A physio / osteopath/chiropractor visit might be in order?

noblegiraffe · 03/05/2021 18:35

Sam Freedman has a point here on this thread here: (look away now, Jan and any other exam parents)

"It's really hard to get across to non-education people how much of a clusterf**k GCSE and A-levels are this year.

Teachers are being asked to do a phenomenal amount of entirely pointless work so the Govt can pretend there's some logic behind grades."

JanFebAnyMonth · 03/05/2021 18:35

Oh please do one, noble..... (Wink)

noblegiraffe · 03/05/2021 18:40

OMG did Jan just tell me to do one? Shock :(

ArnottsUnderpass · 03/05/2021 18:42

I've got some nice Gola retro ones I got in the sales.

Thanks for the new thread!!

MrsHamlet · 03/05/2021 18:46

She did, noble
Frankly, I'm shocked 🤣

noblegiraffe · 03/05/2021 18:54

That it took this long, MrsH?

I'm going to skulk off to my draining board thread where, despite it being on AIBU, no one is telling me to do one.

I'm outraged.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 03/05/2021 19:03

That’s fighting talk, coming from Jan.

Unusually for you not to be told to do one in a thread you’ve started in AIBU these days, noble. Obviously sinks less controversial than schools.

JanFebAnyMonth · 03/05/2021 19:08

🤣 😂 (actually am not entirely sure I know what the “one” I’ve invited you to do is....)

That thread is masterful btw noble, such a cleverly disguised attempt to yet again spread fear and close schools.....

R4 has just informed me that honey badgers have ice cream scoop-shaped baculums (baculae??) You may need to google baculum, I would have done before hearing that show.....

Piggywaspushed · 03/05/2021 19:09

I remember interviewing a kid once who was upset because another child had called him an effing c word and told him to eff off .
Quite right too. I dutifully recorded this in its full glory and checked that he had indeed been called a fucking c u n t . Just in case.

The child looked horrified and mildly perplexed. Turns out the perpetrator had in fact said 'eff off you effing c word'....

CallmeHendricks · 03/05/2021 19:20

Our Head was interrogating some kids who had accused another of saying a "terrible word. You know, the one that begins with f."

The Head believes in calling a spade a spade, so said in horrified tones, "What, you said "fuck" in my school? Is that what I'm going to have to tell your parents?!"

All the kids looked appalled! Turns out the "F" word was "flip."

Beachhuts90 · 03/05/2021 19:28

@RuleWithAWoodenFoot

Rocket Dog?
I don't know them, thank you for a new one to check out!
MrsHamlet · 03/05/2021 19:35

I must've told you this before... back in the days of coursework, then Bob writing about fishing and his lack of success.
Bob wasn't a great speller so "carp" was "crap"
He also didn't enunciate clearly so wrote about his failure thus:
"I cunt catch a crap"
He wouldn't have it that "couldn't" needed more letters and was HORRIFIED when I told him what he'd actually written.
That Bob was brilliant. We'd sent him to the Pru in year 8, but then he tried to burn it down. And then he got run over. He was in a wheelchair for months and months and his mum reckoned it saved him. He got his English and Maths (and I've just looked up on Facebook - his profile picture shows his crap fishing had improved)

DreamingofBrie · 03/05/2021 19:59

@TheHoneyBadger

I've ordered an ankle support and a wobble board to arrive tomorrow - thank you Dreaming. It's been 9 days now which seems a bit long so probably best to help it along.
I hope it's helpful! I would lend you mine but it's currently with one of our Finance team, who borrowed it after a sprain!

Hope it's helpful. Coincindentally, ds2 mentioned to me the other night that honey badgers are quite aggressive! He is a mine of random trivia. He also sleeps with a poster of a reticulated python blu-tacked to the ceiling above his bed Hmm.

I have actually had a really shit couple of days before the weekend. Can't talk about it too much as awaiting the results of an internal investigation, but had a breakdown in the office on Friday (embarrassing), but just so upset. If the worst possible outcome happens, I've been thinking I'll need to leave my job (I've not done anything wrong, by the way).

DreamingofBrie · 03/05/2021 20:01

He also didn't enunciate clearly so wrote about his failure thus:
"I cunt catch a crap"

That made me laugh, thank you MrsH.

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 03/05/2021 20:02

Sorry dreaming, that sounds really stressful to deal with. Glad it's not you doing anything wrong but still not a nice process.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 03/05/2021 20:04

Sorry to hear that Dreaming. Fingers crossed for a good result.

JanFebAnyMonth · 03/05/2021 20:12

Flowers dreaming, sounds absolutely horrible.

eitak22 · 03/05/2021 20:26

This talk of swearing reminds me that our current class are awful and swear a lot for 10 year olds. We always record what the word said was... has led to some hilarious reports I've had to write.

HarrietDVane · 03/05/2021 20:33

Thanks for you Dreaming. I hope the outcome of the investigation is positive for you. So sorry you're having a rough time of it.

MrsHamlet · 03/05/2021 20:47

dreaming hope all goes well for you

noblegiraffe · 03/05/2021 20:52

Ah Jan what I really liked was that despite the fact you were telling me to do one, you still said ‘please’ Grin

I posted a thread on the covid section this weekend and it got one response... I get the feeling that the teacher haterz have packed up and left. Even the current school threads aren’t mad.

noblegiraffe · 03/05/2021 20:53

Sorry you’re having a shit time, Brie. You’ve done nothing wrong so you just need to sit tight till that’s confirmed. Horrible for you though Flowers

MrsHerculePoirot · 03/05/2021 21:11

Thanks for thread. Sorry to hear @DreamingofBrie hope the outcome is what it should be.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 03/05/2021 21:38

Dear Miss Rule,
I'm sorry for calling you a penis and throwing the books at you. I promise I won't do it again.
From Ben

He's in prison now. So actually the book got thrown at him!
