You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask

piggy that sounds utterly mindless!

Are you feeling OK now Harriet?

WhenSheWasBad · 11/05/2021 22:01

Oh no Harriet that sounds awful. Hope you are ok.

MsAwesomeDragon · 11/05/2021 22:11

Sorry to hear that Harriet. I hope the right people do the right things for the child/children involved in your safeguarding thing. Flowers

cantkeepawayforever · 11/05/2021 22:12

harriet, I hope that you are OK. Those situations - whether they come out of the blue or are the kind of thing that has been lurking in the background - really shake you both practically and emotionally. Treat yourself gently.

HarrietDVane · 11/05/2021 22:13

I'm ok. It was one of those nasty ones which make your blood run cold - unfortunately, we all know how it is. I can't get it out of my mind at the moment but I'll get my game face back on for the morning.

cantkeepawayforever · 11/05/2021 22:15

I'll get my game face back on for the morning.

If your game face just won't go back on straight, make sure you have an escape route or someone who can hold the class just for a few moments. Do you have someone in school you can offload to at least a little?

HarrietDVane · 11/05/2021 22:19

Thank you Can't - I had a long chat with the DSL and my phase lead so I am being supported at work.

ArnottsUnderpass · 11/05/2021 22:22

Oh gosh @HarrietDVane that sounds awful. Hope you can get the support for you and the child involved. It's heartbreaking.

@HarrietDVane

Thank you Can't - I had a long chat with the DSL and my phase lead so I am being supported at work.
That's great. There have been one or two occasions when the design of my classroom, with a large walk-in cupboard to hide one's slipped game face in, has been utterly invaluable.
HarrietDVane · 11/05/2021 22:47

That sounds good, Can't - I am envious of the cupboard for storage as much as for the hiding place!

ArnottsUnderpass · 11/05/2021 23:05

I used to have a fabulous cupboard to hide in. I miss it, & it's ability to store all my crud in!!!
