I'll pop a link in the old one so you know where to find safe haven. I have tried to clear out some space by getting rid of the ohp and vcr trolley and gin is hidden behind the sick sand bucket.

I'd be nervous if Cillian was looking st me with those 👀....

Can I have Liam H to distract me?

JanFebAnyMonth · 14/03/2021 14:14

My teens are cooking beans on toast for lunch. I definitely need them to do more cooking (if only for the hilarious conversation I'm hearing)!

I know, they should be able to do a lot more than that at 13/15. Work in progress.

DreamingofBrie · 14/03/2021 14:32

I must say, I have been very spoiled today and feel fortunate for it. My eldest has taken charge of proceedings and organised breakfast, lunch, gifts and cards with dh. Would like the younger dc to show a bit more interest but they have time to grow up a little. Zoomed my own dm with my sisters, which was lovely.

Happy Mother's Day to everyone, and thoughts to those for whom Mother's Day brings them sadness Flowers.

I sent my mum cocktails by post. If she's not tiddled by now, I've failed at life :)

My friend has ordered a champagne afternoon tea to be delivered to her, her mum and her daughter at uni. They’re planning a zoom (drunken) chat.
MrsHamlet · 14/03/2021 14:41

I was going to send some to my sister too so we could do similar... but it was too expensive to send them abroad :(

motherrunner · 14/03/2021 14:42

Happy Mother’s Day.

Horror

motherrunner · 14/03/2021 14:44

@jan - No!

motherrunner · 14/03/2021 14:47

This was my favourite present. DS (6) had gone onto my phone secretly and made me a playlist so when I opened my music today for my run I saw this. (It also a pic of him grinning wildly but I cropped that out).

I've had a box of lindor from dd2, only because I mentioned mother's Day last night, then dh remembered he "needed to go to the shop" (at 10pm).

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 14/03/2021 15:24

Bottle of gin here and I'm happy!

Need to be careful how much I drink as need to plan later.

namechangedyetagain · 14/03/2021 15:47

I'm home alone today as DH working. I've had cups of tea, I was bought a DA rose and a huge pot for when we finally finish the garden. Best of all, I snuck out and saw my mum. She has been ill and after losing my brother it's just me (and my children) so it was lovely to see her and I arranged a facetime with my nan who is in a nursing home.

Best thing of all, crying into my planning (or lack of), was my youngest telling me I will be ok and I need to believe in myself. If only she could remember some exciting activities she's done with number lines that would be great!

I spend so much time planning. I'm not getting better at it. It's not getting easier. I'm just lacking.

Hurrah for the gin! I've opened a bottle of red in case that helps the planning

TheHoneyBadger · 14/03/2021 15:48

Ds is asleep. Honestly he could sleep for 20 hours a day at the minute. Going to be fun getting him up for school in the morning - though at this rate he'll probably be awake still I guess. Anyway point being I haven't had anything for mother's day though I know my dad snuck him a card and will have been messaging him to remind him to write on it Grin

I've had a nice bath and have started on the gin. It worked out that tomorrow I teach the same lesson twice (it's my very short day of a 0.4 spread over three school days) which I already planned, resourced and taught on Friday so it's been a pretty much no school work weekend which is a good enough mother's day present for me.

I have a list of parents who wanted but couldn't get appointments for parents evening to email tomorrow in my ppa between those two lessons and the usual ton of photocopying to do but touch wood it's set to be an easy day.

I have an avalanche of marking on it's way in the next couple of weeks as we catch up on qmas put off during remote learning but teaching wise it feels quite light for the rest of term unless I've overlooked something.

When I say it's light 'teaching wise' I'm obviously teaching the same classes and amount etc I mean there isn't tons of planning and resourcing to do.

That'll be made up for next term when we move on to some new units one of which I know nothing about and the planning looks a bit skeletal.

I've had prosecco afternoon tea picked up from the local hotel here, with my girls for Mothers' day.

It was lovely.

Now I'm sitting here just churning over with the thought of going back tomorrow to my full class for the first time since December. It's been fine (and felt safe) with the hub provision and Wales kept schools remote for longer than England, but tomorrow it's pretty much straight back to business as usual. I have no idea how my y6 are going to be.

Proper Sunday-night blues.

Along with the fact that y11 DD (who does desperately need to go back) keeps saying she doesn't want to go back! We'll both do our LFTs later together!

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 14/03/2021 16:28

I've been for a walk with my mum. Drove 40 minutes to do it, and she insisted we meet at a quiet carpark on the edge of her village so I didn't go to the house. Just in case it was breaking the rules.

We then met just about every single person she knows in the village on said walk. Hahahaha.

I now need to sort out all this maths shit for the week. Can't make head nor tail of anyone else's planning on it.. meh.

Appuskidu · 14/03/2021 16:35

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums on here! Not done much here today (well, obviously!) but that’s been quite nice.

Still grumping about my lack of vaccine though. Someone just sent me the list of people who qualify for a jab as social care

nationalcareers.service.gov.uk/job-categories/social-care

Can’t believe some of the roles listed on here when teachers aren’t!

Play therapist and crossing patrol staff!!

JanFebAnyMonth · 14/03/2021 16:40

DrMad remember to leave lots of time for the LFTs, especially for two of you:

30 mins beforehand no food or drink
10 mins minimum to set up and do the tests
30 mins for them to develop.

It says you can't read them after 30 mins, anyone know why, I presume this is just in case they get knocked/drenched or something, in reality?

ChloeDecker · 14/03/2021 16:41

Wow that list?!
“Life Coach”???????
Speechless Hmm

Appuskidu · 14/03/2021 16:42

@ChloeDecker

I’m so fed up with it. Why is an art therapist entitled to the vaccine but teachers aren’t?!
Mrsbrownsgargoyle · 14/03/2021 16:42

I heard tell of a primary school where "most of the staff have been vaccinated under the social care category." Urban myth, surely?

MsAwesomeDragon · 14/03/2021 16:46

Some of those jobs are absolutely vital, and others are patently ridiculous in terms of needing the vaccine. What exactly, in terms of number/duration of contacts is the difference between a playworker and a teacher. I mean, if they're on the list, we should be on the list.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 14/03/2021 16:55

Jesus - my 6 year old child, who to my knowledge has never seen 'a blog' or a 'vlog', is currently filming herself in her bedroom.

"Hi followers, did you see my vlog on my bedroom? I'm sure you did... good huh... anyway, I'm going to stay with my grandma at easter, WHAT FUN.. just a bit of FUN!"

What the fuck? Is this what it's like having a teenager?

And she;s not going to stay with her grandma at Easter, she's got the wrong end of the stick there. No doubt her teachers will be thinking we're right dickheads.

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 14/03/2021 17:00

@Mrsbrownsgargoyle an LA near here did begin vaccinating teachers under care workers and was v quickly told to stop. May have been there.
