I'll pop a link in the old one so you know where to find safe haven. I have tried to clear out some space by getting rid of the ohp and vcr trolley and gin is hidden behind the sick sand bucket.

Marking my place.
I'm a week behind you all but starting back tomorrow, although for us it's small numbers.

Mistressiggi · 14/03/2021 17:06

I really have to stop checking the vaccine calculator - I've moved from end March, first to mid April and now to end May/beginning of June. I'm group 9 (50s)

CallmeHendricks · 14/03/2021 17:09

School crossing patrol workers are on that list!
So, they work OUTSIDE for 2 short sessions per day, with some of the same children we spend ALL DAY in stuffy classrooms with, assisting them FROM A DISTANCE for the few seconds it might take them to cross a road? And are therefore considered at greater risk than us?

It's got to be personal, hasn't it? The government really does hate us that much.

TheHoneyBadger · 14/03/2021 17:16

She's probably got her own youtube channel Grin

Not overly happy with my child. He woke up finally and announced he was off to Grandma's because x (my niece) is there And why is X there ds? Is it a special day?

Queue awkward silence and sloping off to his bedroom to go write on my card and try a coy cheeky chappy approach when giving me the card and saying happy mother's day Hmm

I asked him to take the card for my mum with him. He did much, 'I do love you, do you hate me? I hope you don't hate me. I'll make it up to you' type shite and then left only for me to discover he forgot to take the card for my mum.

And yes I know he shouldn't be going to my Mum's. God knows what bubble my parents have decided they're in at this stage - they've convinced themselves they're allowed a bubble because they're over 70 and apparently my son and I and my sisters adult children are in it now?? I've lost the will to fight it at this stage - have spent a year trying to protect them but they have had enough now and won't be told.

More gin I think.

It's like satire isn't it? Feels like a deliberate wind up.

Absolutely. Makes me so bloody angry. I know so many (not elderly) people who have had the jab now. Virtually all not working or WFH.

Mrsbrownsgargoyle · 14/03/2021 17:38

Herc same LA as me so they never sanctioned it.

Mistress I'm late 50s and I've got mine booked. The calculator can't keep up with the programme. DH and I will both have ours before the calculator said we would.

motherrunner · 14/03/2021 17:41

My colleague’s friend had his vaccine today. Mid 30s. Office worker. WFH. Lied on the form to say he was an unpaid carer and no one asked for proof when he turned up.

TheHoneyBadger · 14/03/2021 17:45

I'm guessing rather than it being totally about hating us it's about not being seen to acknowledge that schools are not safe in any way shape or form.

I don't think people can get, unless they work in school, how utterly surreal it is to be subject to the same, 'stay at home', keep your distance, etc messaging but then go to work and cram through the crowded corridors and stairwells as usual and be in full classrooms. It's bizarre to actually experience the contrast between what our workplaces look like and being made to queue outside of a pharmacy and only have one person in at a time with a mask on.

I don't think anyone else is in the position we're in. At least now they're wearing masks. And I have to say the vast majority are wearing them without a complaint or any fuss whatsoever so could have quite easily been wearing them all along and potentially have avoided a fair proportion of the disruption they've had in education since September.

I do think the lack of honest realistic images of what schools look like has helped people pretend schools are somehow magically safe and full of wonderful mitigation factors. I'm now regretting that I didn't take lots of photos - obviously we couldn't have shared them now but they would have been interesting for the future when they were trying to spin things. Did anyone take photos?

Except in primary.

I think you are right though-they don’t want to admit schools aren’t safe. I do still think they hate teachers though.

CallmeHendricks · 14/03/2021 18:05

I got told off in Sainsburys yesterday for getting closer than 2 metres to the person ahead of me in the queue.
If they only knew...

Sureitwillbegrand · 14/03/2021 18:14

Ah, I was sent away from vaccine centre as I made the appointment under the COVID tester via schools. My letter from school was not enough as it was only open to testers in special schools? Another member of the testing team got her jab the previous week no questions asked Confused. It's all a bit shit!

In other news in Maths we are making a list of topics that will not be tested and advising students the rest will be tested over the 3 test periods. I will be directing teachers on topics to teach for each block as these will link to the meatier topics on the assessments.

JanFebAnyMonth · 14/03/2021 18:16

I know all those misleading BBC photos are really a serious matter aren't they?

Mistressiggi · 14/03/2021 18:18

Thanks MrsBrown I'm glad yours is on its way Smile
I think we are moving more slowly in Scotland and in my LA in particular.

Piggywaspushed · 14/03/2021 18:26

I was chatting to my neighbour today who said she had to keep telling her DS (who goes to my school) that he couldn't go and play out with his mates throughout lockdown!

She has a friend who teaches deaf children 1 : 1 and couldn't get the jab until she said she worked in social care...

NDN thinks it is just making a political point that they aren't vaccinating teachers. If she can see it's all so silly why are there so many who think it is wrong to vaccinate teachers?

Piggywaspushed · 14/03/2021 18:30

I don't think that list is correct : community transport people and careers advisers haven't had jabs.

Sureitwillbegrand · 14/03/2021 18:38

Maybe they don't realise they come under social care?

Aren't all teachers learning mentors. Grin

Learning mentors help students and pupils deal with any difficulties they have with their learning.

Piggywaspushed · 14/03/2021 19:06

See, that's just a careers list : none of our learning mentors have been done!

Monkeytennis97 · 14/03/2021 19:10

Hi all hope everyone has had a lovely day. I've had a brilliant time and seen both my boys. Lovely roast dinner and beautiful flowers and candles from my eldest as well as DS2 saying "I love you mum" totally unprompted. Ace day ❤️

They're doing the 50-54s in my area now...
Piggywaspushed · 14/03/2021 19:34

I think the vaccine calculator is pessimistic.

Things seem to be moving really fast. I never thought I would get mine only two weeks after DH.

RandomGrammarPun · 14/03/2021 19:36

That list posted above is just a careers list. It's got nothing to do with vaccine priority. Still sucks that some people snuck in using that before it was noticed and stopped.

Our LEA seems to have got all their staff jabbed now though under critical worker status. All outside working construction staff/working from home office staff. Not the education staff.

Appuskidu · 14/03/2021 19:36

Which info is most likely to be correct?! Just seen this on Twitter. Does this mean 40-49 are v likely to be done next month?!

Aww Monkey that post made me smile so much.

Second mothers day here not seeing DM and honestly it sucks. Shes had he first jab so will see her in Easter but I still worry as I'm the one at most risk of passing it to her (not that the government, media or mumsnet would let me say that)
