You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Is anyone in the mood for a new “comic song”? I wrote one to amuse myself mostly.

TrashedWarrior · 10/01/2021 18:24

Grrr Riga Angry

JanuaryChill · 10/01/2021 18:24

Do you need to ask gravity???

TrashedWarrior · 10/01/2021 18:24

Yea please gravity.

I won’t be performing it because nobody deserves to hear me sing, but:

It’s beginning to look a lot like lockdown
Everywhere we go
Look at the shops in town
Everything’s closing down
Except B&M with windows all aglow

It’s beginning to look a lot like lockdown
Masks in every store
But the prettiest sight you’ll see
Is the Hermes man who’ll be
At your own front door

A pair of cookery books and some new crochet hooks
That I bought last night about ten
Gravity boots and Peruvian nose flutes
Are what Amazon tried to sell then

And mum and dad can hardly wait for school to start again!

It’s beginning to look a lot like lockdown
New PE with Joe
Dry January’s nixed
I gave it up on the sixth
Boris’s face makes anyone alco

It’s beginning to look a lot like lockdown
I hope there isn’t four
And the happiest time will be
The moment when we’re free
To leave our own front door

Grin 👏 bravo, love it!

Gove's DD has had a leg up from Mummy in journalism

www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-9129721/Telling-exams-scrapped-final-straw-says-level-student-BEATRICE-GOVE.html

Interesting what subjects she is doing though!

ItsIgginningtolookalotlikeXmas · 10/01/2021 18:52

Haha that is a brilliant song! (And matches my Christmas name Grin)
Riga I'm thinking GP and signed off for a bit, if they genuinely have so little regard for your health and well-being.
MrsH I've been working from your guide book now and it is so informative, thank you! Also playing around with my Lens app, will use that for the dc.
Now if anyone could help me sound less of a prat on recordings that would be great (hard to believe I sound so bad in real life, but I must!)

EnemyOfEducationNo1 · 10/01/2021 18:57

Mental ill health has a stigma - but the more we talk about it, the more it lessens. I hope.

Gravity - absolutely love it!

Piggy - omg, take a gander at the state of that floor behind her Shock
Wink

Piggywaspushed · 10/01/2021 19:00

Bit like my house!

I was more distracted by the cat hairs on the jumper!

JanuaryChill · 10/01/2021 19:01

Is it surprising that the DD of a cabinet minister has had an article published effectively criticising the DfE/Secretary of State for Education??

Saucery · 10/01/2021 19:08

I really like that article, good for her. Articulates what a great many teenagers will be feeling right now.

FlagsFiend · 10/01/2021 19:10

If you sign up for the turtle gloves news letter you get a voucher for £10 off your first pair but can't pick the exact colour. You have to use it within 24 hours so don't sign up until you want a pair.

cornercupboard · 10/01/2021 19:24

Riga thinking of you Flowers and Cake

I've got to take unpaid leave instead of working from home like I did in lockdown 1. ECV DH (3 different reasons to get a shielding letter!) and cases through the roof here, but gaslighty twat head says "the guidance" for ECV people's household members is that it's perfectly safe to go to work.

Thinking of a career change but I am too old and knackered to do anything new and exciting.

DD's school has said children can do mass testing but opt out of LF for self-isolation so I won't be consenting to LF either.

RigaBalsam · 10/01/2021 19:26

Thanks corner. Thanks you too. I can't believe they are making you take leave!

cornercupboard · 10/01/2021 19:37

Well of course I have the option of going in..... but I have to choose between having my DH alive, or the pitiful pay of a TA and looking after other people's children. It boils my piss. But hey, we are alive.

I've recorded so many videos, I just don't care anymore! It's like having a new partner where you pretend you're perfect and then you reach the point where you say, 'fuck it' and just let everything hang free Grin

Though, I do try to lower my voice but havent got it quite to gravelly, telephone sex depths yet Sad

CallmeAngelina · 10/01/2021 20:08

Don't hate me, but I've read Beatrice Gove's account of teen-hood and their social lives at the moment and I'm just thinking yep, that was how it was for us in the late 70s.
Minus wifi and devices.

MrsHamlet · 10/01/2021 20:12

I had a stroke aeons ago and lost my voice. I was off school for a while but bumped into a y11 boy in town with his mum. "Mrs hamlet" he said "you sound like one of those chat lines"
His mum and I just stared at each other and then she dragged him away!

Grin I wouldn’t have noticed a pandemic in the early 80s. Until the library closed, that is, then I might have blanched a little and dyed my hair another colour in mourning.
PumpkinPie2016 · 10/01/2021 20:14

@RigaBalsam and @cornercupboard Flowers and Cake for you both. It's awful Sad

Not done much work at all this weekend. Can't even really say I planned my two lessons for tomorrow as I just had to tweak themBlush I was so tired Fri, I just needed a rest.

So, must knuckle down in my frees tomorrow so that I actually get things done! Maybe I need to make a list first!

Not jealous of your stroke - that sounds horrific - but well jealous - I always think I sound like Jimmy Krankie on speed!
MrsDanvers123 · 10/01/2021 20:16

Should be 'well jelous if your sex voice'!
