You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

@Cracklefraggle

Just got the office lens app and had a go - genius!!! Thanks all for the tip 😁

Currently waiting on test results; cough, fevery but no temp (?!), headache and general urgh. Could be somthing else though right?

Great moral support from DD, "good job you've just done a big shop' Hmm

That's how i felt when I tested positive. And to be fair to your DD one of my first thoughts when I got the cough was at least we've got lots of food in Grin

I didn’t know Tom Fletcher was in McFly! Love The Creakers. Not so keen on Geri Halliwell’s books. Ugenia Lavender sounds like a sanitary product.

There is an evolutionary aspect to our love of alcohol and it’s to do with the sugar content. Our bodies need sugar / energy and by making alcohol palatable and ‘moreish’ we are more likely to fulfil that need. Of course these days we’re unlikely to work it off running away from large things with teeth that want to eat us.

TheHoneyBadger · 09/01/2021 17:44

I once gave up alcohol only to take up a serious Haagen daas habit and pile on weight so trying to avoid that this time!

Piggywaspushed · 09/01/2021 17:52

Oh, you're here!

Thanks rep!

MsAwesomeDragon · 09/01/2021 17:54

I went back to low carb on Tuesday, was doing really well, then dh hurt his arm and can't use it, so I'm now in charge of cooking . So we're having pizza delivered tonight 🍕. There are lots of ingredients in my cupboard/fridge/freezer, but unfortunately I don't actually know what to do with any of them Blush

Thanks for the updated guide MrsH, I'll have a good look at that tomorrow. I'm also going to be playing with my new graphics pad and pen, which arrived this morning 😃

MrsHamlet · 09/01/2021 17:55

Teams guide update sent to everyone who had ever been unwise enough to request it 🤣
On the subject of sugar, my best friend at work bought me a hamper of chewy sweets for Christmas. I love her even though she teaches maths (kids are baffled that we are friends. And that I dated a comp Sci teacher. They think we should stick to our own kind)

MsAwesomeDragon · 09/01/2021 18:00

In my school we do stick to our own kind MrsH. We've got married/living together couples in most departments, but only one that crosses subjects (and they're both essay type subjects)

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 09/01/2021 18:02

Ah we've got two mixed dept marriages. The rest of us are married to non teachers or teachers in other schools.

We have a LOT of inter department extra marital activity Wink

MrsHamlet · 09/01/2021 18:03

My dept colleagues are either saps or knobheads!
I laughed a lot once when a student commented on how funny it was that there was a Mr thing and a Mrs thing... and what a coincidence to have two people with the same name in the school.

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 09/01/2021 18:05

Saps or nobheads Grin (that's my SLT, bar one!)

fredred · 09/01/2021 18:10

Three primary schools locally to me have already had bubbles burst! I wonder if that will make parents really think about whether they need a school place or not.

FrippEnos · 09/01/2021 18:12

Thanks Staff

MsAwesomeDragon · 09/01/2021 18:17

Oh, I forgot the head and his wife, they cross subjects with science and MFL. I wouldn't contemplate a relationship with any of my colleagues tbh, the repercussions if the relationship ended could be horrible. I don't even like it that dh works in the same town as me tbh, I preferred it when he worked elsewhere.

MrsHamlet · 09/01/2021 18:20

We have siblings both teaching in school too - and they went here!
My last form had a lot of comp scientists in it, and two of them were very funny about it... to the point of one of them going "mrsH - you and MrCompSci... how?"
He's a good friend now but it was awkward for a while when I was his mentor

RigaBalsam · 09/01/2021 18:21

I have seen twi on Facebook in my area tonight also.

Not into Joe but could be persuaded by Bez.

MsAwesomeDragon · 09/01/2021 18:23

We have siblings teaching in school too, and loads of staff went to our school. The youngest members of the maths department were taught by the oldest members of the maths department.

This is the issue; we need to reserve for the really key key workers to ensure frontline nhs staff are accommodated for.

Saw this too! So going to join in Grin
Wonder what the warm up activity will be?

eitak22 · 09/01/2021 18:30

I've brought the prosecco I wont drink from home and decent coffee.

@fredred not unexpected but no doubt a pain for those frontline workers who need it. Had a friend who has had a student test positive who's in the KW bubble in secondary will be interesting to see what they do.

Do we work at the same place??

(Actually we don't... unless you've changed one detail for anonymity!)

TrashedWarrior · 09/01/2021 18:35

Might involve maracas and a splif Cracklefraggle...

JanuaryChill · 09/01/2021 18:39

We have had a parent and child teaching simultaneously. And - shock horror - a member of support staff closely related to a teacher!

Anyone know any nice, mature, single male teachers?

I wanted a tortured, complicated Mr Rochester type hero, but ended up with a very grounded scientist - it's worked for 20 years -mainly because we ignore each other- Grin
TrashedWarrior · 09/01/2021 18:43

Re related teachers and support staff; we've had all of it!

2 Marriages.

Inlaws.

Siblings and daughters
