You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Sorry for being a slacker - caught in a whirlwind of reports, mock marking and another on-line parents evening.

Could not find the dry sherry in the broom cupboard lol

RigaBalsam · 25/11/2020 18:54

Thanks staff. Here's a hot chocolate and a biscuit. Put your feet up.

MrsHamlet · 25/11/2020 18:58

I bought a job lot of hot water bottles for chilly classrooms. One each in your pigeon hole.

CallmeAngelina · 25/11/2020 18:58

No words.

DreamingofBrie · 25/11/2020 19:03

Thank you, Staff!

MrsDanvers123 · 25/11/2020 19:08

I am knackered. I feel so angry and and impotent about the shit government, that I can't even find the strength to drink Shock

WhyNotMe40 · 25/11/2020 19:09

Thanks for the thread
I think I'm getting the child's cold. Been sneezing all day and now I've got a sore throat.
Really hoping it is just a cold!

MrsDanvers123 · 25/11/2020 19:10

And the class who have just come back from their 2 week isolation have all either completed the work or not - fuck knows how I am meant to catch up so they are all at the same point!

ChloeDecker · 25/11/2020 19:13

Thanks Staff!

CallmeAngelina · 25/11/2020 19:13

So, what do we all think about the DfE's message on the other thread?
I don't know whether to be amused or furious.
Who the fuck do they think they - and we - are?

WhyNotMe40 · 25/11/2020 19:18

I found it patronising
StaffAssociationRepresentative · 25/11/2020 19:20

High time the DfE realise that they have lost the respect of so many teaching professionals.

There was a thread during the summer where DFE workers were saying how they were going to miss the leader who was sacked. (Not Big Gav but I live in hope that he will be sacked at some stage). I could believe that there were so many of them - no idea what they do all day long

Angelina That message was an absolute kick on the teeth, wasn’t it Angry Recycled inaccurate guff about how “CoViD DOesNT ExiST In ScHOoLs” (have to ask a teenager if I did that right!) and not a single fucking word of thanks to teachers on the threads raising concerns and working our arses of to keep the kids and ourselves safe (“where possible” Hmm ) and absolutely zero acknowledgment of parents’ quite reasonable worries.

Did they mean to be so inflammatory?

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 25/11/2020 19:25

They dont give a shiny shit about us hence i dont care about them

Before he got onto his PGCE course, DH was Admin Assistant for the minister of state for schools (think Jackie Smith, Stephen Twigg, David M eras) and he confirms none in that dept really have a clue school-wise and even though he was on the lowest ‘scale’ there is, he frequently wrote letters on behalf of them (as was told to) that no one checked.
He is not surprised at the DfE MN post-merely a copy and paste job and says they will have moved on really (thinking they have done a good job).

Saucery · 25/11/2020 19:26

I think MNHQ sat on that message to show how little they think of being used for dangerous propaganda aimed at concerned parents and teachers.
Like oh yeah, we found this gaslighting twaddle down the back of the sofa

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 25/11/2020 19:27

The post from DfE was exactlty the line that all Tory MPs are parroting in response emails and on Twitter.

I like that the last post on the thread is WE CARE MORE ABOUT THE ADULTS though.

Tech question - is there a piece of equipment that will allow me to 'write' properly on a powerpoint that is shown on my laptop screen? A pen shaped thing, not a mouse or mouse-mad. Is that what a stylus pad thing would do?

Appuskidu · 25/11/2020 19:27

I’m really pissed off by it.

I’m equally pissed off that MNHQ hung on to it for days and then ‘accidentally’ didn’t post it until right at the end of the thread so none of us could comment on it.

It would have been great if they MNHQ could have started a thread on the behalf of DfE and invited journalists to publish the responses. I'm sure you lot could have had lots of fun with that Grin
RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 25/11/2020 19:30

I think I've only asked that question about tech probably 10 or 12 times since March - I just can't seem to keep the answer in my head, and can't find it either. Sorry.

monkeytennis97 · 25/11/2020 19:31

Thank you @StaffAssociationRepresentative

Hope everyone is ok. DS just had another test tonight.

School is crazy, everyone is so unbelievably stressed. One year group with about a third missing. Officially one confirmed case but rumors about 3 others... nothing official though..

RobertsUncle · 25/11/2020 19:33

Found you, thank goodness. Dreadful dreadful day. Just grabbing a biscuit, might be back later for some advice if I have time.

Saucery · 25/11/2020 19:37

Yes, that would have been much better!
