You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

DS's test came back negative. Literally aching to see him. 5 weeks on Sunday... praying we get to see him even though our bloody county is now in Tier 3... (despite being in tier 1 before!)

SleepymummyZzz · 26/11/2020 17:30

Just when I thought I couldn’t despise Boris more than I already do.

Ditto

I've cried at work twice this week, so I'm glad I'm not alone in that. For me it's mostly been worry about dd1 (collecting her in 2 days, don't know if I'm technically "allowed" to do that, don't care either way). School isn't too bad at the minute. No whole yeargroups off, only a few year 9s right now. Most staff are in (my hod has an isolating child though, so he's not in every day), full attendance in every class I taught today (why are the naughty ones never ill??)

Augustbreeze · 26/11/2020 18:25

When you say he's not IN every day, mrsawesome.......?

Augustbreeze · 26/11/2020 18:26

Oh sorry, presumably you mean isolating as a contact rather than a positive.

MsAwesomeDragon · 26/11/2020 18:27

I mean he's not in school every day as he's sharing the childcare for the isolating (primary age) child with his wife.

starrynight19 · 26/11/2020 18:33

Oh monkeytennis that’s just so tough I pray you get to see him soon.

That answer by Boris was a disgrace . Absolutely had enough of listening to any government reply about schools. Never addressing the actual question that’s asked.

Tier three for us again here. Phoned parents of my class today. Not only is it spreading within class but also now going through family’s. I cried.

Sorry to hear so many others are being reduced to tears. It’s just so relentless and feels like it’s getting worse. I think the tier news has really got to so many people today.

TheHoneyBadger · 26/11/2020 18:38

I'm allowed to be at home when meant to be teaching year groups who aren't in due to ds's year being out. Obviously so long as my lessons are recorded and set. So working over the weekend did pay off for me.

He's old enough to be alone but I'd rather not leave him for full days and I can work better at home anyway as it's quiet. I have not looked at work emails once today. I answered a parent email at 10pm yesterday and decided I was taking my full day off today.

Hoping for a quiet weekend too.

I haven't cried at work this year which is unlike me. Perversely I may be better in a crisis than allegedly in normal times.

MsAwesomeDragon · 26/11/2020 18:47

We're tier 2, which is the same as we were before this lockdown. It won't make any difference to my life really. I just need to get to the weekend without needing to isolate. After dd1 is home I won't mind as much if/when I need to isolate.

One of my nieces has symptoms now. The older one has been isolating due to being a contact at school so the younger one went to their dad's to avoid contact. Now the younger one has symptoms and is now having to isolate at their dad's house. If she tests positive it'll be 4 weeks without seeing her mum in person. That's a long time for a 12 year old.

monkeytennis97 · 26/11/2020 18:52

@starrynight19 DH and I are walking around like zombies. School home school home school home. Just spoken to our boy he kept saying 'home Sunday'. Miss him so much (now I'm crying!). Thank you all for your lovely words x

eitak22 · 26/11/2020 19:12

Feeling sorry for myself after a dentist appointment. Ended up having a tooth extracted unexpectedly :( and not excited to go into work tomorrow.

PumpkinPie2016 · 26/11/2020 19:26
