You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Sorry to hear about the crying but makes me feel like it’s ‘normal’ at the mo which actually makes me feel better that it isn’t just me not coping I’d that makes sense. Not glad any of you also feel like that of course!

@Hercwasonaroll we have those ones. Game. Changer. Esp for maths I’d say!

Augustbreeze · 26/11/2020 09:54

I too am relieved to know am not the only one crying at work! Mine is mainly to do with home stuff, but I think we're all suffering more than we think we are, iykwim. Of course my job (library) is hardly as pressured as most of yours atm.

Augustbreeze · 26/11/2020 10:05

Just checked our cover sheet for today, 39/c200 staff WFH, including large numbers of office and pastoral staff. No wonder the decision's been made that we can't bring back Y9 next week. Only Years 7/11/13 in atm, Y7 will be out next week. I'm wondering if we'll be closed by then anyway.

Tier 3 here

monkeytennis97 · 26/11/2020 14:16

Tier 3. Hoping that means at least I can see DS in the park...Sad

monkeytennis97 · 26/11/2020 14:17

Haven't cried yet (am part time so that helps hugely). Had enough though.

Saucery · 26/11/2020 14:18

Tier 3 too. My Kindle is broken and we have heard suspicious scrabbling in the wall at the back of the house. I may have had massive cry this afternoon. There's only so many times you can count your personal blessings before you need an air-clearing WAAAHHHHHHHH! these days.

Saucery · 26/11/2020 14:20

Yes, that should be OK? Hope his support workers can facilitate that for you.
NeurotrashWarrior · 26/11/2020 14:23

Hi,

I've been struggling so not on much. Mainly work crap and pressures of self isolating children.

Surveillance out, I note school data and children's rates still increasing.

Proportionally high number of onward transmissions in sen schools.

Blue line obviously not dropping as much as others.

@Saucery thank you x

eitak22 · 26/11/2020 16:12

Just checked and were now Tier 2 (were tier 1 prior to lockdown).

@monkeytennis97 I hope you're able to see DS in the park soon. Not sure if he likes hot choc/able to have it but might be needed if it's as cold as today.

Tier 3Sad

Medra · 26/11/2020 16:33

We’re still tier 3. According to our local Public Health chief (who went against the government and recommended masks on corridors from September) Infection levels have fallen, but not enough, hospital rates are still very high and inevitable infection levels even if they keep falling will fall more slowly now that they’re opening shops and activities up again in addition to schools.

RobertsUncle · 26/11/2020 16:35

Fingers crossed monkey, that would be a start.

Piggywaspushed · 26/11/2020 16:44

So, the DH had some men round to look at the boiler . They said they had patched a leak and had to come back but it was all temporarily working, Asked him if he wanted heating on or off. Off, says DH. Natch.

They siad 'OK, well you can switch it on later;.

I ahve come home, heating not one and don't knwo how to put it on.

DH now sulking because I ahd a go at him.

He didn't want to go near the plumbers, didn't understand what they were saying and doesn't know that 'I didn't know how to switch heating on'

Might go back to school now.

PumpkinPie2016 · 26/11/2020 16:51

Sorry to those who have cried Flowers I don't know how I haven't this week!

Today was far better than yesterday though! Lovely lessons and managed not to be collared by bickering staff so all good.

Fortunately for us, our staffing is ok -got about 5/200 off across school so not too bad. No whole year groups out. Not that many kids isolating either at the moment.

Haven't got too much I have to do tonight and need to wrap DS birthday presents/put decorations on his cake. Then I plan on an early night!

Saucery · 26/11/2020 17:01

Is it one of those fancypants timer things, Piggy? Should be a diagram somewhere online (which is how I normally work stuff out that would be easier to have just asked the installer at the time but I don’t want to bother them and not go near them especially nowadays).

I have found the point of entry for our unwelcome lodger, poison bought, hole plugged in case it wants to take the easy way out and just fuck off alive. It has the choice 🤷‍♀️
Dented my bumper on a bench. This truly is the day that keeps on giving #feelingblessed
Roll on work tomorrow, I’d rather be playing Frogger with Covid than hunting l’aal ratties and reverse parking like a knobhead.

flumposie · 26/11/2020 17:07

Moved from tier 1 to tier 2. Not surprised as surrounded by tier 3.

RigaBalsam · 26/11/2020 17:09

I see Boris mentioned in the presser briefly that he had to have restrictions it to keep schools open which we must.

TheHoneyBadger · 26/11/2020 17:09

Is it announced then? Guess I can google and find out my tier and what it means. Don't mind too much as long as gyms open but we have 3 year groups out so even if our tier looks good we know it's rife in school age.

Saucery · 26/11/2020 17:12

Announced earlier today. I just googled my county and local BBC news had it straight away.

Piggywaspushed · 26/11/2020 17:16

I rammed a screwdriver in and it came on....

Teachers no longer care for Health and Safety.

TheHoneyBadger · 26/11/2020 17:16

Tier 2 here. I see poor Leicestershire is still tier 3. It's seemingly never let up there.
