You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom. Close the door quietly on your way out

@MrsHamlet Looks like we’re out of a job with these HR for coming in. I say good luck to then teaching Chaucer last thing on a Friday - ha!

MrsHamlet · 25/08/2020 19:16

Shall we leave them to it then, motherrunner and go and lick a bar somewhere?!

Cantaloupeisland · 25/08/2020 19:17

Present! 🙋

tadjennyp · 25/08/2020 19:19

Présent!

Mistressiggi · 25/08/2020 19:20

Thanks for the thread. Have been in H&S meetings all afternoon, could use a gin Wine

motherrunner · 25/08/2020 19:20

@MrsHamlet Maybe the Government could create a new show - Job Swap - akin to Wife Swap.

What do people in HR do?

Saucery · 25/08/2020 19:21

I’m planning a walk for tomorrow. Pinch points on the path will be no problem if I wear my School Staff!! Make Room! badge, so that’s good. I once saw one of the school families on the route - the kids were stunned into silence to see Mrs Saucery, using her legs! with her family! walking around with a dog! Shock Shock Shock Good job they hadn’t met me an hour before having a bit of a Wild Swim in my shorts......

Piggywaspushed · 25/08/2020 19:23

Checking in!

God, the poor bus drivers who land the 'school run only' TfL buses.

Hercwasonaroll · 25/08/2020 19:23

Hello all

@ChloeDecker I may well be after your teams advice in the next few weeks! I'm going to see what expectations are before leaping into anything. I await the INSET. Usefully the marking policy update is 3 days in.....

Honestly do (un) trained monkeys get promoted to SLT? (apologies to any SLT on here)

Hercwasonaroll · 25/08/2020 19:23

We've been Oked to wear PPE if we provide it. Any visor recommendations?

Piggywaspushed · 25/08/2020 19:24

I especially liked the person who thought school should just be full of carpenters teaching the plebs skillz coz Romantics

Off to apply for a job in HR.

MrsHamlet · 25/08/2020 19:25

@motherrunner I know the answer to this because I met ours after my appendix burst and I got rushed to hospital and didn't set cover because they were scooping my insides out.
They send illiterate demanding a meeting. And then they ask if you think the problem is likely to recur because if so they'll have to refer you to occupational health.
Totally trust her with Chaucer.

Piggywaspushed · 25/08/2020 19:25

Barry Fry was wearing a good visor on the News just now. Totally clear and fixed over the top of his eyes like goggles sort of. Didn't have that odd blue band at the top.

motherrunner · 25/08/2020 19:26

@Hercwasonaroll Good news for you!

MrsHamlet · 25/08/2020 19:27

Bullocks. Illiterate emails obviously.
In our case SLT tend to be massive suck ups.

motherrunner · 25/08/2020 19:29

@MrsHamlet Ask idiotic questions. Right, gotcha. I’m up for a bit of form filling.

motherrunner · 25/08/2020 19:30

I’m back from having my locks chopped. My hairdresser wore a visor that was held on by a full headband. It looked comfortable and she wears it all day every day.

Piggywaspushed · 25/08/2020 19:31

phleb, did you check with clav before socialising??Shock

HedyPrism · 25/08/2020 19:32

Checking in. I feel woefully underprepared with a truncated PGCE. The thought of diving straight in, even with a handpicked small bubble, is hilarious.

WhenSheWasBad · 25/08/2020 19:37

Just wanted to say MrsHamlet sent me her teams instruction Manuel. It is huge and extremely useful. Thanks again.

Medra · 25/08/2020 19:46

Thanks for the new thread. I had to point out to my HT yesterday that the RA they’d put out to parents hadn’t been updated since we had Y10/12 in and in the section about lessons said pupils would be in groups of no more than 15 🤣

SaltyAndFresh · 25/08/2020 19:48

Have we seen this yet? There's definitely been an 'oh fuck' moment, hasn't there

Thanks staff! 48 posts already!

NeurotrashWarrior · 25/08/2020 19:52

What I don't understand is will
Clinically vulnerable staff be expected to continue working if there's local lockdowns?
