You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom. Close the door quietly on your way out

Our Risk assessment has been emailed out. Still no masks allowed. Cleaning has “teaching staff responsible for cleaning desk; pupil desks; keyboards (where applicable) and ensure light switches have been “thoroughly” cleaned with antibacterial cleaning materials after every lesson (materials thoughtfully to be provided by the school until Roger in year 10 runs off with them all.) There is no lesson change over time and staff will be sprinting from one side of the huge school site to see a different class at the exact same time they will be cleaning current classroom. (But not to worry as our ever practical head has written to parents and told the students (in a bog standard comprehensive school) to bring a library book in to sit quietly while they await a teacher. Confused

There is absolutely nothing whatsoever that could go wrong in this risk assessment; none whatsoever. I have class sizes of 34; the only way I can be 2m away from them all is if I stand outside the classroom and teach through the window 😂

MrsHamlet · 25/08/2020 21:53

@Myusername2015 that must be from the county library as my bloody school library has been taken out of use. 😢

DreamingofBrie · 25/08/2020 21:53

Checking in.
I dutifully supported the Scottish economy last week whilst on holiday by buying two bottles of gin. Panic prepping now for the start of term. My MIL made a load of fabric masks for us but I think I'll make a few more for me and dc (any excuse to go to the craft shop).

Thanks for the new thread Staff. I only discovered the previous one yesterday!

At each stage we listen blah blah bullshit bullshit.. honestly, this shower of cunts.

Hercwasonaroll · 25/08/2020 22:00

No changeover time here.

Free room timetable provided for staff to work in (subtext bring your own laptop).

Equipment apparently in rooms so we don't have to carry it. I predict it'll last a week.

No textbooks at all... Bring on the photocopier!

ineedaholidaynow · 25/08/2020 22:03

Just watching the BBC news, how does the school in Leicestershire have so few children in?

MsAwesomeDragon · 25/08/2020 22:04

Wow, a new thread already!! And so many posts on it before I got here!

Dd1 and I have been busy today making masks for me to wear at school. I've had stretchy single layer masks from Morrison's for just doing my shopping, but we don't have enough of them for dh to use buses twice a day and me to wear them at school as well (we've only got 5). So i got out the material and cut out the parts, then dd1 sewed them together with the sewing machine. They are really comfy.

Watching the 10 o'clock news, showed a classroom at a school in Oadby, presumably from today. Only seemed to be 6 children in the class, was this set up for the camera or have hardly any parents sent their children to school? Anyone work in a Leicestershire school and know the answer?

Are we in the same school!? Grin

Exactly the same here. More’s the pity Sad

hedgehogger1 · 25/08/2020 22:22

I bought myself some Boden ones. Pretty and the wire helped stop my glasses steaming up. I thought they were pricey at the time, but they are expensive generally I think. I've got my mum making some, god knows when I'll see her though

Piggywaspushed · 25/08/2020 22:25

I couldn't get on with the Boden ones at all! I felt really claustrophobic : I think my face was too short!!

Piggywaspushed · 25/08/2020 22:26

Debra Kidd has tweeted about Oadby. See if anyone answers her who knows !

SaltyAndFresh · 25/08/2020 22:33

I just got an absolute pasting on a local media thread because I asked someone why they were outraged about masks. One of them posted #savethechildren which I laughed at, so they basically accused me of being a child abuser Sad

Nearly missed this!

Face mask U turn.

What a surprise. Very happy but also just another example of not being able to trust the government!

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 25/08/2020 22:41

As if by magic we predicted a U turn and look what happens

If I was Gavin or at the DfE I would not admit it - I would probably say I was an estate agent or an international arms dealer.

Why didnt they just say - Nicola has made a good call so we are going to follow her .....

Piggywaspushed · 25/08/2020 22:46

It's really not a U Turn. Let's see how many of our heads change their plans to Masks R Us...

ineedaholidaynow · 25/08/2020 22:49

We are in a low rate area, local schools are saying currently that staff and pupils can wear masks but they are not mandatory. This was agreed before the news announced tonight but I don't think they will change their policy

RigaBalsam · 25/08/2020 22:50

Evidence coming in that the Coronavirus only travels as far as the school gates, gets sulky, turns round and hurries off.

Michael Rosen Tweet. Love it.

ThrawnCow · 25/08/2020 22:52

I'm sick of seeing classrooms from lockdown (or Denmark) on the news, as if that's how empty they will be this term.

ChloeDecker · 25/08/2020 22:54

Very true Piggy!

I said the same thing, my colleague replied all it will take will be two parents to complain then we will all be wearing masks as if anything happened they have taken the precautions.

Sky showed a lovely new clean lab in Scotland with about 10 kids in playing with the molymods. Mine will be somewhat different and we aren't allowed the moly mods!
Piggywaspushed · 25/08/2020 22:59

It's more of a U bend really.

Full of shit.
