You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs
Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom. Close the door quietly on your way out

Breaking news: www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-53909487

Sally Collier has resigned.

hedgehogger1 · 25/08/2020 15:55

@MrsHamlet where I used to work we got told off for logging things in Sims even thought that was the policy. Apparently because when we had Ofsted/HMI/ whatever else was passing through, they could see them all!

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 25/08/2020 15:56

well how about a few DfE muppets resigning!

ohthegoats · 25/08/2020 15:56

I haven't got time to log stuff on SIMs. I keep a paper log of all that stuff, which I discuss with SENCo or whatever when I've got an exercise book full of one child's antics I get the chance.

Wow! I'm out at a visitor attraction at the moment and I have to admit it's really hard to hear staff wearing masks or visors in background noise. I do think it would be good to try however, because if it fails the govt will have to do more to make schools safer.

Hercwasonaroll · 25/08/2020 16:13

Finally got some info. Work uploaded to teams to mark 😭😭

Masks optional. Not sure I want them full time in classrooms to be honest.

AugustBreeze · 25/08/2020 16:38

Just realised this thread has lasted us less than five days.....

Appuskidu · 25/08/2020 16:42

Clav seemingly wants social nights out for school staff stopped as well!

I presume that will apply to anyone in any workplace going out and getting together...or is it just people working in schools?!

Piggywaspushed · 25/08/2020 16:45

Hilarious that she mentioned Christmas meals, as if it should never have happened!

motherrunner · 25/08/2020 16:46

We don’t have a Christmas meal, we must be a very antisocial bunch!

ohthegoats · 25/08/2020 16:50

Where is this thread?

WhenSheWasBad · 25/08/2020 16:51

Sorry to be a pain (NQT so still learning the basics). How will the work get uploaded? Do the kids do the work online and then email it over?
It’s going to take at least twice as long marking work on the computer as on paper.

motherrunner · 25/08/2020 16:53

There’s a new thread about making people who are redundant teachers. Apparently people who work in HR will be suited to teaching English 😆

@WhenSheWasBad You can set an assignment on Teams and they student attaches their work which you can mark straight into. It will come to you as a document you can edit.
Hercwasonaroll · 25/08/2020 17:00

They're taking photos apparently and then uploading. Honestly can't think of anything worse!

motherrunner · 25/08/2020 17:01

@Hercwasonaroll Photographs will be difficult to read. Why can they not attach a document? So much easier to view and edit.

NeurotrashWarrior · 25/08/2020 17:03

Salty, I think it's going to have to be something that's trialled at least, and also adjusted for pupils with SN etc.

ohthegoats · 25/08/2020 17:06

I think I'm going to make purchase of the drawing thingy that I didn't buy in June. A notebook thingy that means you can draw on documents with an actual stylus thing.

MrsHamlet · 25/08/2020 17:09

If anyone wants a copy of the guide I wrote for teams for staff, please let me know. It was a labour of hate love

WhyNotMe40 · 25/08/2020 17:11

Me please!!!!!

MrsHamlet · 25/08/2020 17:14

As long as you promise to to pick on me for being a swot! Pm me an address and I'll email it. It's big ooh er missus

MrsHamlet · 25/08/2020 17:14

NOT to pick on me. FFS

motherrunner · 25/08/2020 17:15

When using Teams make sure the first thing you do is change yourself to a presenter otherwise pupils can mute your and kick each other out the team.

Of course this did not happen at my naice girl’s school 😆
