You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs
Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom. Close the door quietly on your way out

Oh I thought you were doing well, Why!

noblegiraffe · 25/08/2020 11:52

I’ve got another thread brewing but I’m not in a position to start one and it’s annoying me. I’ve got itchy fingers.

WhyNotMe40 · 25/08/2020 11:52

I'm sure I read a report about an outbreak where staff and students transmission was about 50/50 and I can't bloody find it!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 25/08/2020 11:53

Don’t argue with Clav, would be my advice. Aaaargh is the only possible outcome.

NeurotrashWarrior · 25/08/2020 11:53

@CallmeAngelina

DH just called the GP surgery for an appointment and in all the recorded guff at the beginning of the call, it said that anyone visiting the surgery in person "OVER THE AGE OF 2," had to wear a mask!!
My two year old has just clutched a mask all round my visit to clothes shops for various Covid extra uniforms we seem to need.

I didn't put it on him as I actually thought I'd get judgy looks (I know I need to get a grip!) and as technically he doesn't need to but he wasn't going to get out of the car if he didn't have one too!

The children's ones from gap have been brilliant.

Piggywaspushed · 25/08/2020 12:16

I have just been into school. What a filthy dump.

noblegiraffe · 25/08/2020 12:17

Oh god piggy I’m so sorry.

What is it?
Frlrlrubert · 25/08/2020 12:33

Oh Piggy, that's awful. Flowers

We aren't allowing in this week because they are (pointlessly) fogging. I'm so glad we're keeping our rooms, so I can keep mine a lovely clean tidy sanctuary, I'll be avoiding leaving it as much as possible I think (obviously no duty rota out as yet).

We have lots of tape arrows in corridors that I can't see lasting past the first two days.

WhenSheWasBad · 25/08/2020 12:35

Oh no. I felt sorry for the kids in one of the schools I worked in. I obviously never went in the kids loos. But they stank from 5 metres away so I doubt they are pleasant to use.

AugustBreeze · 25/08/2020 12:36

@Frlrlrubert maybe you could ask your site staff to go and fog @Piggywaspushed's filthy dump?

Collaborative working and all that....

Piggywaspushed · 25/08/2020 12:37

There were tiny laminated one way signs and a thing about one in one out in the toilets (no idea how that will work) including pupil toilets.

No anti bac, a pack of dried out travel wipes, no cleaning has been done, bins not emptied. The desks were actually sticky and there was a load of crap left behind from when year 10s were in, including water bottles.

Piggywaspushed · 25/08/2020 12:40

Oh and there was tape around the desk area which meant all the rest of the tables had been rammed in the remaining classroom space!!

But that was it...

And,as we know , I have no windows. Someone ahs put a cupboard in front of a fire exit blocking one of the opening doors...

Frlrlrubert · 25/08/2020 12:42

[quote AugustBreeze]**@Frlrlrubert* maybe you could ask your site staff to go and fog @Piggywaspushed*'s filthy dump?

I would but fogging a filthy dump is totally pointless (I used to do a lot of cleaning and fogging in a previous life), it needs to be clean and clear for the fogging to do anything, which is why fogging our classrooms is pointless, it's not going to get into the places the virus will lurk outside of normal cleaning anyway.

I do wonder if they'll be clearing the dust bunnies under my desk out before they fog. Probably not, I think we're getting an external company in to do it.

I have no idea where the fogging money has come from. It probably means we'll have no exercise books or something. Maybe they are using the glue budget since glue is banned, who knows Grin

Jeeze piggy Angry

Piggywaspushed · 25/08/2020 13:01

The Guardian gets it!

WhenSheWasBad · 25/08/2020 13:03

Oh wow, just listened to the news. The government has confirmed that it will not insist on masks being used in secondary schools.

Apparently it’s safe. I’m so reassured.

AugustBreeze · 25/08/2020 13:05

Oh piggy that does sound grim - at any time but at this time.... shocking!

AugustBreeze · 25/08/2020 13:09

Although does "not insist" mean "you can if you want to"? Although probably the "you" would have to mean Heads...

Also I think the notion of any government saying "We're not doing X, no way, don't need to!" louder and louder - until the day they suddenly announce "We're doing X now!" won't be entirely alien to the man on the Clapham omnibus. Or the teacher.

Ickabog · 25/08/2020 13:10

I'm sure they also said the same for shops not that long ago, and no need to quarantine from other countries, and even further back no there isn't any need for a lockdown or for schools to close.

And they definitely wouldn’t be using CAGs for the exams!

Piggywaspushed · 25/08/2020 13:15

I see Katharine Birbalsingh who has been generally supportive of teachers and schools throughout has now come out as a rabid anti masker because children can't be trusted. But, Katharine, I thought none of yours ever misbehaved???

ChloeDecker · 25/08/2020 13:15

@WhyNotMe40

Can I just go aaargh about my argument with Clav , although I did fuck up a bit
Clav’s hilarious-never ever take her seriously! We’ve all had so many experiences with her that she is part of the Staffroom furniture. She does love a ‘Google’ that one Grin
WhenSheWasBad · 25/08/2020 13:17

True. Do you remember when U turns were embarrassing for governments? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a worse government than the one we currently have.

ineedaholidaynow · 25/08/2020 13:21

@Piggywaspushed do you know if the compliance checks have been done, if no cleaning yet done. I wouldn't be going near any tap water unless all the legionella tests have been done.
