You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs
Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom. Close the door quietly on your way out

Let’s hope!

As a form tutor I have to do temperature checks in the morning - I almost wet myself laughing reading that

I know I probably shouldn't say this, but I am increasingly thinking that the gov have monitors in MN (and other SM) that take note of public sentiment, and post propaganda - but alter their policies according to how much of a pasting they get.
Which is disappointing because government should lead not follow public opinion.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 25/08/2020 13:43
@Piggywaspushed do you know if the compliance checks have been done, if no cleaning yet done. I wouldn't be going near any tap water unless all the legionella tests have been done.
Yes good point - take in own water for a while

Sorry if that's a bit incoherent. You know what I'm getting at

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 25/08/2020 13:44

@Piggywaspushed

There were tiny laminated one way signs and a thing about one in one out in the toilets (no idea how that will work) including pupil toilets.

No anti bac, a pack of dried out travel wipes, no cleaning has been done, bins not emptied. The desks were actually sticky and there was a load of crap left behind from when year 10s were in, including water bottles.

OMG that is grim.

My school has been steam cleaned!

Bloody hell, piggy that is unacceptable even for a normal summer holiday.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 25/08/2020 13:46

Well hopefully with @noblegiraffe threads they now have a clear understanding!

Can we start one in AIBU under ‘DfE is a bunch of muppets’?

Oh they definitely do, Why, they’ve been on MN since the Gove years, Dom Cummings a big factor. Saw it again during the Brexit referendum (Cummings again). They definitely have bots.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 25/08/2020 13:54

Just had an email from dds school re y11 return. Masks are allowed if the pupil wants to wear one as long as they are worn sensibly (and it states are not shared - ew!)

Saucery · 25/08/2020 13:55

I have seen that staff will be allowed to wear masks, but only on the newsletter to parents. No one has yet bothered to inform the staff themselves. I shall iron my masks in anticipation.

MrsHamlet · 25/08/2020 14:01

Who cares about the staff knowing stuff? We don't need to know anything...

Saucery · 25/08/2020 14:12

Indeed. As a reward for ploughing through all 8 pages of the newsletter I have the heads up to start matching masks to outfits.

Probably need to run a few focus groups to gauge how popular/ unpopular it is.

piggy sorry about the state of your school. That’s really awful.

Frlrlrubert · 25/08/2020 14:16

I've just got my 'what you'll be teaching' information and I guessed wrong, and my printer appears to have died. So much for being prepared!

MrsHerculePoirot · 25/08/2020 14:16

I've found out today that my school is explicitly stating NO masks will be allowed by staff or students anywhere on the premises.

They did also say they thought there would be a u-turn on this from the gov, probably over the bank holiday weekend. But if they think that and imply they don't agree, why don't they let us choose to wear them in the corridors etc. even if they just said they have to be off in the classrooms?!?

NeurotrashWarrior · 25/08/2020 14:18

Sooo, someone in an NEU fb group has said that the hoo Har in the media around masks in schools and urging Boris to reconsider is a distraction from the main issues of safety.

Thoughts?

NeurotrashWarrior · 25/08/2020 14:20

Possibly that the u turn will placate teachers when there are other greater issues at play? I'm not sure what to think personally.

In France I know that parents have been told to get masks ready for months. Masks have been a norm most places for months. We were very late brining then I'm in shops etc.

From all the reading I've been doing (due to arguing with Clav, so credit where credit due) JUST masks won't do as much as we need
