You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs
Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom. Close the door quietly on your way out

Gosh piggy that's dire.

NeurotrashWarrior · 23/08/2020 20:22

Jeeze the propaganda they're spewing out! Especially the "it's your fault if you catch it" line.

There's a massive agenda going on isn't there.

Follow the science unless you're a teacher and it's all your fault, because kids don't spread it. (Bollocks.)

NeurotrashWarrior · 23/08/2020 20:26

Glad dd is ok Belle. The youngest developed the briefest of hot heads today and a runny nose. It wasn't a temperature though. I was panicking a bit. He's only done two days at nursery ffs!!!! Luckily no coughs and has eaten like a horse, played lots and been his merry self.

I've loved no snot for 5 months.

noblegiraffe · 23/08/2020 20:31

Get the kids to work in Pret at lunch.

Then there is no danger to teachers popping in there to pick up a sandwich.

Plus work experience.

MrsHamlet · 23/08/2020 20:49

Or they could bring our lunch back for us.

RigaBalsam · 23/08/2020 21:05

I’m always amazed that teachers manage to eat at school. I never have time or low enough stress levels to eat. Good job I’m part time though I think it’s partly the fact that I am part time that makes me have so much to do because I can’t spread things like admin or photocopying or chasing stuff over more days and I deal with the same number of work inducing emails as full timers that all have to be dealt with and they alone could fill my 40 minute lunch breaks.

I feel like it’s a good day if I get to drink a cup of coffee and fill my water bottle.

Hoping spreading my hours over an extra day is going to allow more breathing space but who knows what new nightmares September will bring. No point stressing because there is nothing I can do about it till I’m there

TheHoneyBadger · 23/08/2020 21:07

@RigaBalsam

Wow
Wow indeed! Propaganda much?
Ickabog · 23/08/2020 21:08

Wow
That's shocking! Shock
AugustBreeze · 23/08/2020 21:18

Compared to who, I wonder? I need to delisted t Whitty and check if that's a direct quote. Or have all the CMOs released a statement or something?

Hercwasonaroll · 23/08/2020 21:22

GCSE History in 2070 will be studying that poster as evidence of government propaganda.

WhyNotMe40 · 23/08/2020 21:24

Wtf?! Shock

WhyNotMe40 · 23/08/2020 21:25

Riga - where did you find it?

Flagsfiend · 23/08/2020 21:27

I saw that poster on twitter :( stating something as if it is a fact, doesn't make it true...

MrsHerculePoirot · 23/08/2020 21:34

Surely that is a mock image and not for real?!?

FrippEnos · 23/08/2020 21:36

I am hoping that it is a mock up, the government can't be that stupid.

RigaBalsam · 23/08/2020 21:36

I hope it isn't true. Its on Facebook from teacher mates.

RigaBalsam · 23/08/2020 21:37

I really hope so. Some weirdos out there if is fake.
AugustBreeze · 23/08/2020 21:40

From the BBC's leading article this morning, reporting on Prof Whitty's statement:

"Are school staff at risk?
Data shows that staff spreading the virus to other members of staff is "maybe actually more important than staff members catching it from pupils", Prof Whitty said.

He said that - much like other workplaces - "it is staff coming together and spreading it to one another" that can drive infections.

"Even with the best actions, you cannot take that [risk of transmission] down to zero and we're really clear about that and we don't want to pretend otherwise." "

Flagsfiend · 23/08/2020 21:40

Sadly it is real - found the tweet twitter.com/DHSCgovuk/status/1297579353887461378?s=19

GCSE? My kids at Year Six do an in-depth study of propaganda in the autumn term. Even kids at 10 and 11 would be able to recognise this poster from the Government for exactly what it is.
Piggywaspushed · 23/08/2020 21:44

What is with all this babyish font and images?

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 23/08/2020 21:44

Fantastic the government has money for all the ‘catch it/catch it not’ campaigns but can not fund extra hand gel in schools

Public First - my arse
