You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs
Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom. Close the door quietly on your way out

They did say that there would be a campaign to get schools back.

Its a little late for Scotland but fuck it.

AugustBreeze · 23/08/2020 21:46

Even Jonathan van Tam is a signatory....

There is the glaring omission of anything about masks....

eitak22 · 23/08/2020 21:49

Our HT wouldn't let us go out for lunch when we were back in June although our admin officer was allowed to go shopping before school... not sure what the difference is!

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 23/08/2020 21:53

It is all about saving Big Gav ....

Fucking hell. That poster.

Mistressiggi · 23/08/2020 22:00

What is this shite that has popped up on my feed? Hmm So do I not now need to hand sanitise myself to death when I go in tomorrow, and can be all cheery like?Angry

Oh I see it's on here already.
Increased compared to which other jobs? My solicitor only speaks to me on zoom. My GP is via a phone call. My dentist - well forget about that I can't see him yet at all.

MrsHamlet · 23/08/2020 22:02

For several years on the bounce, we had someone debt from the DfE delivery unit "embedded" with us for a week. The Head was very fond of scheduling them a couple of hours with me to talk about training and development. They never had any experience of education beyond private schooling, or any interest in education.

noblegiraffe · 23/08/2020 22:06

Anyone else bothered by the spacing on that poster? Like when you insert a bit of clip art and it knocks your text out and you just go ‘fuck it that’ll do’?

MrsHerculePoirot · 23/08/2020 22:07

I have complained to the BBC about the misleading and inaccurate images they always show on articles about schools fully reopening. Won’t make any difference but it’s reeeeallly annoying me.

I want to know what Clav’s husband does!

@StaffAssociationRepresentative

I want to know what Clav’s husband does!
Head of a fantastic amazing school where none of the same rules that apply to normal schools actually exist.
Piggywaspushed · 23/08/2020 22:15

No, he is at the DfE somewhere.

Not Nick Gibb or Jonathan Slater as they are both gay.

So no one as important as she thinks.

Iamnotthe1 · 23/08/2020 22:16

Really?

I thought she was the poster that used to always go on about her husband's school and how all the staff did exactly what they were told and he did things that other schools could never do, etc. Is that someone else?

AugustBreeze · 23/08/2020 22:17

Their statement (CMOs) is using the data from the ONS occupations study, so it means we're at no greater risk than the average worker. Unlike taxi drivers etc.

So the ONS report was based on deaths in the first couple of months of coronavirus in England and Wales, wasn't it?

Ickabog · 23/08/2020 22:18

Head of a fantastic amazing school where none of the same rules that apply to normal schools actually exist.

This mythical school also possess an orchard of magic money trees, which solve many of the regular problems faced by other real schools. Grin

God no that one was mad. The one who had teachers serving dinner in their lunch break before donning rubber gloves and cleaning the loos?

Clav has been around donkeys years. Takes ribbing generally well.

Piggywaspushed · 23/08/2020 22:20

That is the mad as a box of frogs multi named, frequently banned poster, not Clav. She never ncs!

I think they've left a space for us to fill in other words of our choice. "Teachers are not - stupid and are - at increased risk" "Teachers are not - important so who cares if they are at - increased risk." Etc
Iamnotthe1 · 23/08/2020 22:22

Ah ok! My mistake.

Piggywaspushed · 23/08/2020 22:22

Yes, they don't use the RIF (risk of infections) which is for general respiratory and contagious illness which has SN teachers, TAs and nursery nurses right near the top with teachers not far behind.

Ickabog · 23/08/2020 22:25

@Iamnotthe1

Ah ok! My mistake.
Not just your mistake. I also thought the same.
noblegiraffe · 23/08/2020 22:35

I think Clav was quite hurt back at the start of lockdown when she started getting Daffodil posted at her. She’s been arguing with us for so long I don’t think she sees herself as a teacher basher. She backed off quite a lot.

noblegiraffe · 23/08/2020 23:16

Oh you thought that poster was bad? Try this Times headline.

Outbreaks will be our fault, because we are not behaving ourselves out of school.

There are a few more in the DHSC series. U4T are naturally having a field day with them.
