You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to beat us with then please do so elsewhere and not in the staffroom.

@pfrench, Are you MAD???!!! Grin

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 10/06/2020 16:28

I remember the idea of getting ex-armed forces into teaching. That was another successful campaign (not)

An 8-6 day sounds good to me - less hours than now

Cantaloupeisland · 10/06/2020 16:43

I would LOVE to see a 'volunteer army' try and control year 9 bottom set anything Grin

Cantaloupeisland · 10/06/2020 16:45

@Appuskidu there's a great Facebook page called angry people in local newspapers and FUMMING is one of their main phrases Grin

TheHoneyBadger · 10/06/2020 16:48

Interesting thread deletion. Apparently everyone except teachers are allowed to post threads asking what teachers are doing

Piggywaspushed · 10/06/2020 16:52

What happened? Whadidimiss?

Piggywaspushed · 10/06/2020 16:55

The sports coaches thing ... hmmmm... many a time I have had to grit my teeth at the swearing, casual misogyny, inappropriate banter and borderline bullying of the quiet or less accomplished don't go to the posh school kids.

Sports coaching directly contributed to my DS's (now thankfully gone) eating disorder.

The training of sports coaches focuses not one bit on child welfare or well being or even pedagogy.

Appuskidu · 10/06/2020 16:57

Love the reply about Forest Schools. They don’t really want any money to be spent on Forest school training, but just mean going outside a bit more!

I think they'd last about 10 minutes.
TheHoneyBadger · 10/06/2020 17:05

One of ours posted a “what are teachers doing” thread and it was deleted for having an agenda

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 10/06/2020 17:06

It's sad but some people are just nasty. Amazing bitterness across threads and sad to say some have been like it long before lockdown.

Bingo words to be added
fumming
shit storm
blend learning

Signing in from the chalk face.

I was doing so well at home drinking water. I saw such a difference in my skin.

Back to school and back into old habits of one sip a day. Rotten.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 10/06/2020 17:08

@TheHoneyBadger - it means we are trying to defend ourselves. Poor mumsnet have a dilemma - torn between parents and parents who are teachers.

God this site will be like a graveyard without coronavirus

Hmm, I was deleted and now can't log in with the pfrench account - have they deleted me completely? Despite only asking what everyone else is asking? This is one I had years ago when I was pregnant. Totally forgot about it.

Anyway, apparently I'm not allowed to ask about teaching or schools or home learning. Despite gazillions of other threads about the same subjects, filled with the same people, repeating the same offensive stuff.

Do the mods work for the Daily Mail?

Beawillalwaysbetopdog · 10/06/2020 17:16

I once had a lesson filmed for my own CPD.

My own kids found it hilarious and horrifying in equal measure.

I just found it horrifying.

I really can't see how my ugly mug being beamed into a village hall is going to help anyone learn, they'd be much better off with what I'm doing now.

I've given up posting anywhere but here. Being told that the answer to my PTSD from my poverty and abuse stricken childhood was to 'be brave and stop living in fear' was the final straw.

Interesting that the one saying furloughed workers shouldn't be put at greater risk of catching the virus wasn't challenged. If that was one of us it would have been.

Wondering how we've escaped deletion since we're a massive TAAT, does it not count because it's threads?

Is it possible to hide a whole board btw? If I could hide CV and AIBU I might start enjoying MN again.

TheHoneyBadger · 10/06/2020 17:16

Pfrench do you still have the email account you registered that name with? They should have emailed you

Piggywaspushed · 10/06/2020 17:17

Was MN listening!!? BJ just said it was because of the R and class sizes!!

__ which they surely knew before!--

ohthegoats · 10/06/2020 17:19

No email yet.

I just looked - there is a thread on there literally saying 'why is the home learning stuff from my school so crap', yet I asked what about home learning, bet it's shit, and I get deleted.

Do they only like the word 'crap' instead of shit?

I spent 2 hours on a Teams call this afternoon trying to sort out class lists for next year. Two of the teachers in my phase are BAME, one of whom ticks all the boxes for risk factors apart from being diabetic. How is he going to be back in September? The other person is allowed in, but only to their classroom. No kid contact.

There better be some solid data from these few months that show evidence of stuff being safe/not safe.

ohthegoats · 10/06/2020 17:20

I'm also a bit worried that we're going to have weeks of 250-ish deaths a day, and that's going to be considered 'ok' or something. No one batting an eyelid at that now.

minisoksmakehardwork · 10/06/2020 17:20

Evening! Rota duty done and picked up some extra ones - how rude of me!!

It has been a little like herding cats today. There seems to be no fixed plan. The students have been swapping rooms, and therefore bubbles. Apparently this has been going on all week as the numbers of students change. Over lunch they are allowed to mix freely as long as they distance. It baffles me entirely. This week was my week to be in and all their risk assessment and planning seems to have gone out of the window, but I can't quite work out why.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 10/06/2020 17:21

@ohthegoats pfrench - the mods must have been in contact to say why you have been expelled.

We have some TAAT but not just TAAT. In any case there is a poster who keeps referring to staffroom threads so a load of those threads must be TAAT as well.

OP posts:
StaffAssociationRepresentative · 10/06/2020 17:24

There has been plenty of effing and jeffing on some threads, plenty of shit shows so shit is fine as a word.

OP posts:
Piggywaspushed · 10/06/2020 17:26

They really genuinely need to shit the CV board down: it's the MN nest of vipers writ large and most of the threads could be on different boards.
