You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to beat us with then please do so elsewhere and not in the staffroom.

I might set up a gin and Prosecco stall on the hillside.

Worried it might get chilly so can someone bring extra wraps/blankets?

I make a mean potato salad, I'll bring a massive bowl and some homemade elderflower champagne!

MsAwesomeDragon · 10/06/2020 20:01

I can bring blankets. I've been doing a lot of crochet while we've been locked down

Piggywaspushed · 10/06/2020 20:02

I liked what he said about private sector workers being gaslit into hating the public sector. the teacher on there said she did not dislike or fall form the rhetoric against other public sector workers. Have to say, I have come across rather more nurse than I would like on here who appear to have been persuaded to blame teachers for their own woes.

Beawillalwaysbetopdog · 10/06/2020 20:03

See the sympathy for vulnerable kids has finished now summer catch up has been announced. Plenty of 'it needs to be for everyone because my kids have suffered too'. I don't swear often but FFS. Some people have no idea about their privilege.

Piggywaspushed · 10/06/2020 20:09

The sympathy was never real, as it isn't form the government. of course.

Before MN , I did not know the word gaslighting. I sure do now.

Beawillalwaysbetopdog · 10/06/2020 20:24

I know piggy, I never thought it was :)

I've just reported every single thread about schools which is in CV as being on the wrong board.

So if I disappear never to be seen again, you'll know why.

CallmeAngelina · 10/06/2020 20:25

Apparently, according to WTAF, we owe it to someone-or-other to work through the summer or pay back our salaries for the last few weeks.

Piggywaspushed · 10/06/2020 20:25

You know how some of us thought we were part of a scientific experiment?

Beawillalwaysbetopdog

You will probably just get a stream of 'We are looking in to it' in your email.

The account that I use for MN is currently full of them.

CallmeAngelina · 10/06/2020 20:34

I've reported yet another "what are teachers doing all day" which is allowed to stand when pfrench's wasn't. My point was that it is a carbon copy of gazillions of other threads, which is not allowed re: Madeleine McCann for example, only teacher-bashing, it seems.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 10/06/2020 20:36

Right my hour rate for individual A Level teaching is £50 per hour and £35 for GCSE. Plus I want to charge for planning and marking.

So by my reckoning ‘they’ owe me a lot of money. Who do I invoice?

I have a lot of those emails - all automated

I genuinely might just go into tuition. No one slags off tutors.

I just asked my friend who gave up teaching last year whether she would come back to do some summer school. She told me to fuck off!

Beawillalwaysbetopdog · 10/06/2020 20:40

I know Fripp, I'm not expecting anything to happen.

Tempted to do something banworthy just to stop me self-harming by reading those threads.

CarrieBlue · 10/06/2020 20:41

Honey I've taught KS4 in a subject that I don't have a GCSE in shock

I’ve taught some A-level that I don’t have a gcse in, just part of a module but still....

Piggywaspushed · 10/06/2020 20:42

I teach two A Levels I have no qualification whatsoever in....

FlamingoAndJohn · 10/06/2020 20:48

Is there room on the hill?

I love that apparently teachers haven’t been working their contracted hours and therefore should be working over the summer to make up for it.

FrippEnos · 10/06/2020 20:50

*@StaffAssociationRepresentative

I'm dropping these in

Or various covers. (If I can be bothered)

Piggywaspushed · 10/06/2020 20:52

Do you know what? Even if research does show that and even if I wasn't a teacher, I'd say so what? Neither are GPs or dentists or speech therapists or nutritionists or osteopaths or orthodontists or opticians or many many other people. In a sense I deserve it after years on the treadmill. We don't get long service awards any more so I am enjoying my few months of not having pointless meetings and open evening and not wrangling children in corridors and not lugging piles of books everywhere and putting up with filthy toilets (except my own, ahem) and permanent cystitis and bladder infections!

MrsHerculePoirot · 10/06/2020 20:52

Also making my way to the hill.

@ohthegoats hope you return.

Experimenting in this way using children would usually be considered pretty scary stuff.

A lot of kids aren't working now! As IF they'll be working over the summer! Ds has no idea what time it is, day it is or month is it most of the time- but he knows when it's not a school day!

Wondering how schools will cope if their staff have childcare issues.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 10/06/2020 21:02

Drinks tick
Snacks tick
Blankets tick
Music tick

Almost sorted

In my mind it will be a mix of Hay/Glastonbury and with good toilet facilities
