You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to beat us with then please do so elsewhere and not in the staffroom.

LOL Oops !

minisoksmakehardwork · 10/06/2020 17:28

And if they had been live streaming any of our rooms to students at home, they would have been faced with one shouting meltdown and refusal to work 'because I've been allowed to do X, which I want to do, instead of Y which I should be doing' and another room with students who were trying to work while their group mates were back and forth between each others computers.

ohthegoats · 10/06/2020 17:30

Oh yes, I've been suspended and won't be allowed to reregister because I'm not posting with the best of intentions. I have emailed them with a list of people who also don't post with the best of intentions.

Presumably I'll be suspended with this account too now. Which is fine, the moderating here is appalling and very obviously right wing. Not my bag.

I'll find somewhere else to vent my spleen about teacher bashing by bitches and bellends!!

Good luck everyone with being back in school properly, let's hope everything goes well and we can get back to normal in September.

Piggywaspushed · 10/06/2020 17:31
Sad
eitak22 · 10/06/2020 17:32

Ridiculous that you've been deleted Pfrench, honestly wishing you all the best.

Any primary schools on here? Can i ask what is happening with your LSAs? Our school has all in regardless of if they're in bubbles or not.

Piggywaspushed · 10/06/2020 17:34

Doesn't their bubbles thing mean school bubbles will potentially mix and even for sleepovers now?

HipTightOnions · 10/06/2020 17:36

Johnson has just announced there will be a summer catch-up programme. Details tba next week.

Can’t wait...

Piggywaspushed · 10/06/2020 17:36

Gav to do a briefing about summer catch up next week. Oh goody.

twinkletoesimnot · 10/06/2020 17:37

Hello. Haven't caught up - been in school all week..... just heard someone (ex schools minister or something???) talking to Evan Davis on R4. Saying there is nothing stopping schools wider opening. We should use a rota system and be operating over the weekend too ......I'm getting so sick of it all now Sad

Piggywaspushed · 10/06/2020 17:38

But Gav said today that you couldn't just wave a wand and catch everyone up in a few weeks of summer.

The GCSEs and A Levels need modifying. It is that simple.

SansaSnark · 10/06/2020 17:39

only if single parents, I think.

It's the DfE that's against rotas Hmm
TheHoneyBadger · 10/06/2020 17:41

Do they honestly think the tb don’t have an agenda? Reverse aibus are allowed so I think that’s bs moderation. Guess we know where they stand.

Communications from school seem to be grooming me for another year of non specialist teaching and ridiculously giving me ks4. Found myself googling constructive dismissal earlier

Cantaloupeisland · 10/06/2020 17:42

If they expect me to give up summer after working over Easter and half term they'll have my resignation. Fuck that!

Piggywaspushed · 10/06/2020 17:43

Boris:'We have a plan. Don't ask us what the Plan is.

Buggered if I know.'

Piggywaspushed · 10/06/2020 17:43

It's like Baldrick.

Piggywaspushed · 10/06/2020 17:45

Yes sansa, that's my point. A lone parent with a DC in , say Year R could have a support bubble with another LP with two DCs, say, in another bubble. So, the bubbles mix.

That's not supposed to happen...

twinkletoesimnot · 10/06/2020 17:45

Sansa - I know..... I think he was in opposition to the gov tbh. Apparently he questioned Gav yesterday about it. (Sorry didn't catch his name) and we should be using libraries, village halls etc...... all the experts that know fuck all!

TheHoneyBadger · 10/06/2020 17:47

Was sad to get responses like we can’t give everyone their preferred year groups. I actually prefer ks4 when teaching my specialty but imo it’s completely off to have ks4 groups as a non specialist. Didn’t mention it but I’m fairly sure parents would be pissed off with non specialists teaching ks4.

Sureitwillbegrand · 10/06/2020 17:47

Evening, been quiet/busy for the last few days. We are now preparing for Y10's/12 return. All seems like a sensible plan. HT has been hit personally by CV so is trying to be protective of all school community! I have started live lessons to some varying success but also some very appreciative parental feedback, which was nice.

Staying completely away from everything else and only reading threads in the staffroom so much better for my MH.

@pfrench @ohthegoats - this is really sad. I have just had a conversation with my DD about being able to see both sides of a story/argument as she was comparing two different newspapers coverage of the Bristol statue!

Doesn't their bubbles thing mean school bubbles will potentially mix and even for sleepovers now? - if they muddied the water's enough then they can't blame opening schools.

HipTightOnions · 10/06/2020 17:47

He just said it again! “Big summer of catch up”. Whatever can he meant?

HipTightOnions · 10/06/2020 17:48

Mean.

Cantaloupeisland · 10/06/2020 17:51

Kids don't need to catch up if they've all been in the same situation - there's nobody to catch up to. Do they really think the vulnerable kids (the ones with 75% attendance) are going to attend summer school?!

ineedaholidaynow · 10/06/2020 17:52

Plus Autumn and Winter catch up

SansaSnark · 10/06/2020 17:52

Boris keeps talking about catch up over the summer- what is this? Gavin said nothing over the summer yesterday?
