You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

In the other staffroom, there is rhubarb & ginger gin, along with tea and coffee.

Ah Bat you can share my slice of cake. Cake and I’ll wash your cup for you, for being so nice.

Appuskidu · 15/05/2020 22:11

Well done for the Daffodil over there, chaps-there is no other reply.Angry

SallyLovesCheese · 15/05/2020 22:16

Yeah, it's a ridiculous statement. The mind boggles how some people get through life, the amount of either goadiness or vitriol they have inside them.

pinkrocker · 15/05/2020 22:44

Bahaha no point reporting that one with the Daffodil then, didn't break any "guidelines" Confused

Piggywaspushed · 15/05/2020 22:58

Admiring the flowers tonight all. Some flowers from non teachers on there too!

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 15/05/2020 23:01

Yes non-teachers are getting bored of the threads too - result!

OP posts:
Piggywaspushed · 15/05/2020 23:01

I like the idea of someone whitehalling better Grin

MollyAtTheFolly · 15/05/2020 23:02

Will be interesting to see what happens to Stella 's flowers as mine were deleted (Tubureuse)

Reported because I'm not posting on those threads any more. Email from Mumsnet said thread wasn't inflammatory - I'm furious because it clearly was. And the snide little 'you can engage with them in a discussion - other people have' (paraphrased) was a bit much too. We've all tried to engage with them, but some people are just too bitter, vitriolic or thick to show any courtesy.

CallmeAngelina · 15/05/2020 23:05

I was told that the other day too, Molly.
Pathetic.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 15/05/2020 23:07

@BatSegundo - you are welcome in the Staffroom as you are in education.

I think some parents are now more supportive of teachers especially those who realise their child needs a lot of input. I am certain some parents today wanted to shout out the answer to questions - it was like talking to tumble weed on occasions. In fact I think a parent was supplying one boy with answers - thank god

@MollyAtTheFolly - MN moderation is very variable. They need us to react on threads as that keeps the ‘chat’ going. More chat = more visits = advertising revenue

I thought the residents of cornwall maybe over taking us for hate but sadly no just more teachers threads.

Flowers are so pretty.

SallyLovesCheese · 15/05/2020 23:44

I made what I thought was a blistering riposte comparing us to audiologists, but it has been ignored so far.

Which either means I win that argument or I should have gone to sleep an hour ago.

CallmeAngelina · 15/05/2020 23:56

I have been in a towering rage all this week about the absolute SHIT fest that is the "debate" or "decision" to re-open schools.
I KNOW I should ignore that other thread, but it's like picking a scab or peeling off dead skin. I can't stop myself.

Asuitablecat · 16/05/2020 00:04

I've missed that one.do yourself a favour- go on all the pretend afffair ones or the local people ones. I.almost miss the mil threads.

starrynight19 · 16/05/2020 00:09

Wow I have no words.
I have taken a tentative step back into Mumsnet after many years.
I have spent way too much time on here today but really the vitriol goes on morning until night.
This was a great place when I had my kids 18 years ago but obvs not anymore.
I have had to post three daffodils already Wink

Asuitablecat · 16/05/2020 00:33

Found it.Bit. Handing back star of the week..wine made me do it.

pooiepooie25 · 16/05/2020 00:36

OMG - the vitriol. I kept biting back. I just want to scream- fuck off you fucking thick wankers

echt · 16/05/2020 00:51

There was thread little while ago whose OP was list of responses to all the repetitive questions posed about teaching.

Can anyone point me to it?

BlessYourCottonSocks · 16/05/2020 00:55

I've just posted on a thread to say "I just dismiss you as an ignorant bigoted cunt when you post Goady shite". I've also had enough now guys.

It's not good for any of us. Mumsnet can go fuck themselves as far as I'm concerned. Staffroom is still in Active by the way despite the MNHQ bullshit about taking a look. I'm giving myself a break from the bollocks and won't be back on. The vitriol is evil and I would URGE any of my teens to block any site that made them feel this bad. I'm going to finally take my own advice.

Solidarity to all sisters (and bros) here! Don't let the bastards grind you down. Remember! You are Shit but essential! as I believe we 're-branded our professional slogan. (Perhaps TeachFirst or other recruiters would like it?)

Best of luck for whenever, whatever your school decides. It's definitely time to go if I'm getting all Shakira! Love to all. Gin

DreamingofBrie · 16/05/2020 02:21

I fell asleep after reading with dc tonight, checked into MN after midnight. I've just hidden about 5 threads without reading them.

I've had 4 GP/nurse appointments for the dc since lockdown. They have all been conducted over the telephone. At no point have I thought "how very DARE they? Stop their pay!!". Some people are very much lacking in imagination on these boards.

We are using class notebooks on Office 365 for remote teaching, and it tickled me enormously this morning during a lesson - normally do about 20 minutes of Teams teaching, then the students do 20-25 min classwork, with me keeping the line open in case they need help. I was flicking through the class notebooks and saw a student write something which was incorrect, then rub it out, then correct it, in real time. It made me feel really positive, so I mentioned it on Teams chat and got a thumbs up from them Smile.

I've been thinking about stepping back from MN, which is a shame since I've been here for over 10 years and had so much support. I just wanted to mention the places which, to my mind, have been invaluable to me:

  • The Staffroom
  • Woolly Hugs
  • FWR

Those are the ones with staying for, I think.

Piggywaspushed · 16/05/2020 07:10

I didn't sleep last night : this is a common problem I have if I drink alcohol (wail!) even in tiny amounts ( I think I accidentally made my gin too strong) so I thought I'd look at MN. Staring at a screen helps me sleep, oddly. Not last night though.

Wow.

I didn't bite so I demand back the gold star I gave away.

Would it be an idea, since we are called defensive (and we are perhaps being goaded into aggression which suits their narrative...) to start an AMA ? That is usually appositive board and ,might be seen as reaching out.

I might nc to do it though as a certain poster hunts me down on MN (she has been really quiet mind)

If anyone asks nasty 'questions' I just won't answer as per the MP yesterday.

I , too, have been on MN for a long time. Boards that I love:

staffroom usually where posters have helped me under a previous name through some horrible bullying and where we are a family
50 Books
Readalong
The Voice thread
GCSEs 2020 thread has been lovely to me even through their panic they treat me as a professional who cares about them
Likewise the first year uni thread although they are bunfighting over fees a bit

This has all got worse than Brexit.

I am so glad none of the lovely people on my 50 Book thread or any of the ones above have turned out to be teacher baiters.

Piggywaspushed · 16/05/2020 07:13

echt that is a thread by sacha . I'll try to find it : she reposted it a few times last night.

The DfE and the Tory party have done this. Cornoavirus has done this. We have not done this. It's not our faults.

minisoksmakehardwork · 16/05/2020 07:44

Now a Premier league footballer has come out and said how ridiculous returning to sport would be at the moment, I wonder how long it will take for them to be ripped to shreds. After all, they get paid a phenomenal amount of money to kick a ball around for a bit ....

FlamingoAndJohn · 16/05/2020 07:47

I made what I thought was a blistering riposte comparing us to audiologists, but it has been ignored so far.

I saw that and knew it would get ignored.
I’ve made similar comments in the past about librarians, swimming pool staff, museum staff, all of whom are employed by the council and therefore paid through taxation yet no one is questioning what they are doing.
