You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are not staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

I haven't been.on mm this much in years. Mainly cos I don't usually have time. This feels like the only safe place to vent. Many of us have non teacher fruends and can't fully whinge there. Don't take this thread off us.

BertNErnie · 12/05/2020 21:49

@lilly there are no disagreements here - it's the other threads you really need to be looking at...

RigaBalsam · 12/05/2020 21:49

Thanks for the mental health support Lilly.

echt · 12/05/2020 21:50

This.

CallmeAngelina · 12/05/2020 21:52

@LilyMumsnet So, you're threatening to delete THIS thread? But allowing all the other teacher-bashing shit to stand?

Seriously?

DreamingofBrie · 12/05/2020 21:55

On another note, I saw this video of measures taken to reopen schools in China this morning. I wonder how that would go down in a few weeks' time?

Piggywaspushed · 12/05/2020 21:56

Shall we discuss something else perhaps? I have just watched Darkest Hour. I get what BoJo is attempting to do to himself now.

FlamingoAndJohn · 12/05/2020 21:57

I’ve been doing Life Drawing Live. That’s been fun.

twitter.com/devisridhar/status/1260289529799495682?s=21

Short clip from news, Edinburgh Uni Global Health professor saying schools shouldn’t be reopening.

Dreaming, I saw that video. Amazing isn’t it? And we are all unsure of even having soap, hand gel etc let alone PPE or additional hand washing facilities 🤦‍♀️

Piggywaspushed · 12/05/2020 22:03

Is that China video definitely real??

Asuitablecat · 12/05/2020 22:04

Shall we all watch Bob Ross and calm down? Art teachers: thoughts on Bob and his 70s style scenery. dH and I try and guess the colours he's going to use. Always phthalate blue and titanium white.

DreamingofBrie · 12/05/2020 22:05

I know, Cyber, I wish our government would take safety when reopening school as seriously!

My former boss (before I was a teacher), I remember her talking about something and saying she was going to put it into the "too big, too difficult" box, so she was parking it for the time being. I feel as if the government has put schooling into the "too big, too difficult" box, but instead of parking it they're setting it up so that it's us who will shoulder the blame if it doesn't work.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 12/05/2020 22:12

@LilyMumsnet - you are going to take down the teacher support thread?
I cannot believe the amount of horrible things being said about staff and schools on MN recently. Some posters openly goad the profession. We thank you for your support this evening with one particular horrible thread. However if you start closing the Republic threads then you may find some of members will not be so active on MN. We have asked for the Staffroom to be hidden from active but nothing has been so far.

This video dissects the video and says the same thing.

NOT talking about a particular thread, don't want to be the twat who gets the whole class in.trouble, but I am noticing remarkable similarities in lots of posters' posting styles.

FrippEnos · 12/05/2020 22:15

@StaffAssociationRepresentative

Almost makes you think that we are unwanted here.

FrippEnos · 12/05/2020 22:16

Asuitablecat

Same here, on both counts.

SallyLovesCheese · 12/05/2020 22:16

I thought we drove up traffic on the site and are therefore useful as cannon fodder?

DreamingofBrie · 12/05/2020 22:26

Piggy agree the video isn't from a reputable news source so may not be legit. I've seen other videos which show similar measures (visors, single desks, outdoor learning etc.), but with larger numbers of students in bigger rooms. Similar stuff being shared on China Daily and CCTV sites, but state controlled I would guess.

My friend has a teacher friend in Xian, who posted some photos of children returning to school after 5 months.

FrippEnos · 12/05/2020 22:43

Piggywaspushed

I posted one from a shanghai school website the other day that showed pretty much the same thing.

echt · 12/05/2020 22:43

They need them clicks.

This article shows picture that were doing the rounds on twitter from France.

Piggywaspushed · 12/05/2020 22:48

I actually think that school planning in England is decentralised, chaotic and often ill informed. This may save our children form draconian SD and repression. Whether it saves adults is another matter.

Piggywaspushed · 12/05/2020 22:52

For example, they are still playing football every day at the school opposite me. And have all the KW kids together in one class which is about 25 kids.

roundtable · 12/05/2020 22:59

Oh! That picture of the children in the squares has made me feel quite teary. How utterly strange for those children.
