'Advice was given'. Brilliant because understated.

Yes, I'm sure HaM would have to do far more contacting the police to be charged with wasting police time. At the moment they're on the nursery slopes.

I believe a Police Liaison officer was assigned to them. God help him / her. What a bloody pain in the arse

The fact that it bore so many similarities to the Fairford incident (man with back pack, white van) makes me very suspicious that this was all a bit of an invention. Given that the Sussexes rarely seem to have an original thought in their heads and often seem to jump on bandwagons, that would
be my (by now very jaded) take on it

Of course another consideration is that the men with backpacks don’t even know about H&M and the focus of their interest was the American children of military/airforce parents. Which has only just occurred to me, considering the similarities, and is very concerning for all the children and staff at the school. H&M are at the back of the queue on this.

The PLO comes from their Ravec deal. That person's heart must sink when one of their numbers comes up.

My DB was a police officer for nearly 20 years. He used to occasionally tell us about various shenanigans that people got up to and when we asked how he dealt with it he always replied dryly "Advice was given"

I would imagine some poor police officer has had to attempt to give advice to H & M, knowing full well that the advice will not be heeded, they are "special" etc etc etc

Sorry I don't think this answers your question but I would imagine it will take a few more 'incidents' before any constabulary can amass sufficient evidence to prove they are wasting police time

Having worked with some very tricky people in a different field, the other thing that we can be sure of is that everything will be documented extremely carefully, and senior officers copied in to any emails.

Re police liaison officer being assigned - I believe the report was that they were given a police liaison number. I suspect that the officers fight not to carry that phone...

I doubt very much that anything like this occurred because it would have been reported on widely. Not just whinged about by the Sussexes

Wouldn’t it be funny if the white van turned out to be Google Streetview updating their maps?

Absolutely. The town’s Facebook group would be awash with people chatting about strange vans in the vicinity - and concerns because of the potential Fairford connection.

WilliamsExtraSausage · Yesterday 15:02

I was joking and then I googled it:

Who Makes Street View

  • Google Teams: Google sends out fleets of camera cars and people carrying camera backpacks to record public roads and paths.
  • Everyday Users: Anyone can upload their own 360-degree photos using approved cameras (like a GoPro or Insta360) through the Google Maps app. 1]
How It Works
  • Image Capture: Cars use a tall roof rig with multiple cameras to take overlapping pictures in every direction at the same time. For places cars cannot reach, people wear a portable backpack camera system called a Trekker, or mount cameras on boats, snowmobiles, and camels. 1, 2, 3, 4]

Hilarious! It would also be a securidy risk.

A few years ago, we met up with some friends in Italy. The son took out his mobile phone and handed it to me. On the screen was a still from Google Maps showing our house and me, very recognisable, walking back from the hairdresser.

Such an invasion of my privacy. So humiliating that the world now knows I wore a Boden top, Hush jeans and Clarke's ankle boots to go to the salon. Now I am a target for every terrorist who thinks women shouldn't be allowed out unaccompanied. I am suing Google, against the advice of my lawyer, my agent and my PR consultant.

I can’t keep up!
has anyone else had the feeling these two photographers at the school are paid for by the gruesome twosome somewhere along the line? - was
going to mention it a day or two ago but I don’t think I got around to it!!

Thanks for the new thread @jeffgoldblum

Would not surprise me in the slightest if they had either arranged for photographers to be at the school or they have completely lied about it, for a start where are the photographs and videos of the van and the paps? Surely their security filmed the supposed incident and it would be launched into the public domain for all to see? Where is the statement from the school supporting that they did indeed have strange men stalking the perimeter of the school with cameras for 2 hours? Why didn’t the school call 999? Where is the police statement supporting all of this? and most importantly, why haven’t the photos of the Hamlets appeared in the “International press”?

BigWillyLittleTodger · Yesterday 15:13

And let’s not forget Meghan has form for this.

Meghan Markle's claims about a lack of police protection outside her Toronto home during the start of her relationship with Prince Harry in 2016 were disputed by the Toronto Police

  • The Claims: In the 2022 Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, Markle stated that she was stalked by photographers 24 hours a day and alleged that the Toronto police did not protect her or respond adequately to her safety concerns.
  • The Police Response: The Toronto Police Chief called her assertions "inaccurate," stating that officers did follow up on reports regarding the actions of photographers, investigated the matters, and found no grounds for charges.

You'd sleep well if it were washed in gin!

It gives new meaning to the phrase “gin soaked”!

AlexandraCarrington · Yesterday 15:30

I've been caught twice by the Google car. The second time the image never appeared on Street View. I kept checking. Most put out, I was. Am I not photogenic enough for Google?

HoldMyWine · Yesterday 16:05

Because of all their previous nonsense I am more inclined to think that the ‘incident’ at the school is pure invention or exaggeration. If there were suspicious men hanging around why wait and watch for 2 hours and not report it straight away?

AcrossthePond55 · Yesterday 16:11

Huffing and puffing and finally caught up! I'm now off to have breakfast seeing as it's 8 am here.

I looked (God forgive me) at the As Ever Advent calendar. You know, for a Spanish style house in So Cal it pretty much is 'Christmassy'. It doesn't snow in Montecito so obvs no snow on the ground and the lights-on-greenery is typical decor here as is the wreath on the door.

I mean, it still is pretty Kincaid-y and very 'busy looking' and the images look like they didn't do a very 'sharp' job with the printing but I can't really find fault (unfortunately) with the actual outdoor decor.

As far as the contents, well she has to get rid of the unsold stock of her spreads. May as well use them to fill chocolates.

No, I won't be buying one. I've always bought Advent calendars either at my local grocery or at World Market. My DS1 is in his early 40s now so they've been available in the US for at least 40 years. Crackers too, we've been doing those for at least 30 years. My late dad, whose grandparents emigrated from Cornwall, use to love 'doing the crackers' and wore his paper crown with pride.

Me. IRL I have one friend who is as captured by HAM's shenanigans as me. When we began our discussions, I often accused her of cynicism. Now, largely because of the lies they have told, I have become cynical myself.

This week's 'incident' is being compared to the New York car chase. A better comparison is the press photoshoot in Mexico of Thomas Markle preparing to attend the spectacle at St George's Chapel Windsor, allegedly organised by M to make him look bad.

So cynical have I become that I am prepared to consider the possibility that M created the Eugenie copy of The WBench and arranged with an existing seller for it to go on E-bay priced at £19,999.99. Anything for attention.

That was my first thought too re the book selling on eBay. Anything for attention and for $$$, as ever.

Starryfifty · Yesterday 17:07

The book selling widely believed to be a stunt (according to DM comments) ffs how absolutely desperate

IdaGlossop · Yesterday 17:09

No genuine buyer is going to pay £19,999.99 for it. Meghan could easily bid for it herself using an assumed, generic user name eg CotswoldsBabe.

Hamandaland · Yesterday 17:21

Well that was stressful! Finally tracked you all down. Might need Megz' paparazzi next time.

Thanks @jeffgoldblum as ever 🦢
