Completely agree with the issues around giving H&M anything to do with the Commonwealth, @IdaGlossop - they soon called it "Empiure 2" anyway - but TBH I expect they'd have found fault no matter what they were given

Anything to build that narrative ...

Taking a broader view, which I have no doubt some courtiers find themselves able to do, HaM ate far better out than in, even when they abandon Cali.

Speculating that another poster said v. Low said m didn't want a long engagement. If the queen was aware of Harry's tantrum following W warning to slow down I'm guessing she felt she didn't have much of an option.

You would think they could see some chancer off. It depends on the family member and if they are even listening especially as he's such a petulant individual. She worked at speed I think v.low or Tom Bradbury (?) Mentioned the speed at which she escalated the relationship.

One of the key red flags in abusive relationships is the speed at which they develop.

That hand holding annoys the bejasus out of me. They even did it at HM's funeral.

My theory is that she has trained him to hold her hand during official royal events so that she looks equal to him even though her status at these events is derived from being his wife.

I have always wondered HMTLQ couldn’t get M or 007 to dig up dirt on MM. Assume there is some. Wonder if they have secret files.

I'm sure she could have. But what would have been the point? She could have handed H a dossier 6 inches thick that included screenshots, photographs, and videos and it wouldn't have done any good. M would have said it was 'fake news' and the RF trying to break them up because 'racism'. H was in it so deep by then that he would have believed her.

And as any of us who have parented through the teen years and beyond know, no good ever comes from seriously interfering with a child's love life when they're so besotted, even when you see the disaster looming on the horizon. All we can do is sit quietly with gritted teeth and wait to be there to pick up the pieces.

I think TLQ and the MiGS had already 'scoped out the situation' and she knew she was fighting a losing battle. Granting her consent I think was her way of giving him some sort of 'road back' if he should wake up and smell the coffee. I don't think she could have conceived of him doing anything like 'Spare' and the OW interview. How hurtful that must have been for her, knowing she'd given him what he wanted and a way back if it didn't work out.

Like wanting to hold Catherine’s hand rather than walk behind her 😂
Thank God Catherine had the measure of her.

Personally no, I never read or watch any of these 'royal experts'. I don't feel I've missed out on anything thus far!

I don’t either.

nor do I have twitter or the other place.

That's performative though. I doubt he gives a tuppenny damn about them. He hardly knows them and is vicious about their parents. More hypocrisy dressed as 'look how caring I am'.

Yes, the faux concern about the Wales DC is right up there with his worries about whether QE2 had the right people around her. After everything he put her through. Such a CF to try and insinuate that she wasn’t capable and was being manipulated by others, presumably including his father and brother. So sly. Awful.

How lucky we are to have Charles then William instead of Andrew then Harry.

It was very caring that the hamlets meanwhile were moved to two new schools in a fortnight and that very hands on dad who supported them by going back across the Atlantic to do half a talk and fall out of a plane. Glass houses, Harry!

I'm beginning to think those kids were never at those schools . Who in their right mind would do this to their children ? " well you see , Hamlets, Mom and Papa are so very important that bad people will want to kidnap you so we have to hide your faces and can't allow you to go to school unless you have men with guns in a convoy to take you there" 🤷‍♀️Meanwhile we're off to the pub to show how British we are !

H is totally blind to the very obvious red flags everywhere concerning Meg. He ignored all warnings and will continue to do so. I really don't think he even sees it now

@bluegreygreen I don't know if it's appropriate , but this part of your post made me laugh " I asked a few questions and pointed out a couple of facts and managed to get myself blocked (a first anywhere!)."

My opinion only but where I encounter you on MN you do quite diligently point out Actual Facts ( with references ) . Nothing unpleasant , no vitriol or frothing , just facts. . I can only suggest , well done you for venturing into unknown territory , but sometimes discretion is the better part of valour & if people don't like anything which even questions their own opinion - perhaps best left alone. 💐

I shall leave you with these which I believe to be true or constantly attributed.
The thought however I think is valid.

My understanding is that it's routine for the intelligence services to investigate people marrying in. They also arrange for compromising material to be destroyed. An example is photographs found in Sarah Ferguson's London flat. It's more difficult removing digital material from the Internet but I think the Royal family have special powers, in this as in so much else.

The pie Harry had looks like it was produced. I’d have sent it back.

They look very like the photos from the pub’s own website - I guess journalists have lifted them.

Where would be fit into the RF now - I mean on a family basis, not as a working royal. It's been six and a half years. What would they talk about? Everyone's moved on, with new shared experiences and memories that he's not part of. The younger generation either barely remember him or don't know him at all.

I think this is an excellent point.
Its a long time.
The last time (for example) Harry sat around the Sandringham Christmas table his grandparents were alive.
Now Camilla is the hostess and HER children are in attendance too, and her grandchildren .
Her grandchildren, the Wales children, Peter Phillips/Tindalls children & the children on Bea & Eugenie all know each other -some are very close (waves at Charlotte Wales and Mia Tindall )
None of them know the Hamlets, only the older ones will have any fleeting memories of H&M.
It would be nigh on impossible for H&M to slot in. Especially M. Too much time, too much hurt and far far too much said by H&M.
Even if forgiveness was given - it’s too long. The gap is just too wide.
And, I don’t think FWIW that William will ever forgive, even if he wanted too.
Harry betrayed William in that book. He has betrayed and sold their mother despite promises they made to each other and even worse he has behaved dreadfully towards Catherine who William clearly adores. William promised the Middletons he would look after Catherine and for me that is why he will never forgive Harry for the hurt he dished out on Catherine & her family for the sake of money.
I think if you were being tortured and you revealed family secrets it’s forgivable-but for money?? How very base.

Harry said in South Africa ‘My brother and I are on different paths ‘ - and they will never ever be on the same one again.

I watch Palace Confidential; it's the Daily Mail's Royal show, and seems to stick to the same editorial guidelines as the newspaper (i.e. stricter than general YouTube channels).
They are clear in their discussion about what is fact and what is speculation. I also like that they give a decent amount of time to the work that the Duchess of Edinburgh does.
It's the only one I watch regularly.

I watched the first couple of episodes of Royals Uncensored when Jo Elvin moved from Palace Confidential to host it, because I thought she was a good host.
It's a different set-up, with guests, but also I think a difference in editorial guidelines - it seemed more sensationalised to me, with content that I don't think would have been allowed in PC, and I stopped watching half way through.

Tom Sykes - I've watched a single 10 minute update video once. It was OK. I got his free Substack emails for about 6 months to see what he said but stopped when they were flooding my inbox and he suggested that RAVEC had some say in IPP status.

Robert Jobson I've seen commenting a couple of times on the Telegraph's Daily T royal podcast - I've just signed up to his emails to see what he says.

Mark Dolan I haven't seen.

Kinsey Schofield I've watched a couple with Scott Rouse (Behaviour Panel guy) - but mainly because I was watching him. She waffles.

I did watch Shauna (Vintage Read) a few times a while ago - before she started hosting Lownie regularly. She was fine then, but I don't know what she is like now.
She was being very supportive of Charles Spencer (and virulently anti KCIII) on Twitter just after Swan Song was published. I asked a few questions and pointed out a couple of facts and managed to get myself blocked (a first anywhere!).

I saw this, @bluegreygreen and thought she was being ridiculously partisan and think less of her for it. I certainly will not be watching or recommending her again, unless she swivels back to impartiality.

I daresay it has something to do with her collaborationship with Lownie, and that guy’s fantasy of ‘bringing down the monarchy’. Why do all the promising writers and broadcasters always stuff it up over idiots like Spencer and Harry? Crazy.

Thanks @BasiliskStare - that's very kind of you.

Your observations at the end are very valid, I think!

I was just surprised, because it was totally unexpected. There are a couple of other posters on here who have recommended Shauna before, so I wonder if they have also noticed the change.

Interesting that you saw it as well, @AutumnCrowOfCleves.

I was quite surprised - not at the difference in opinion (no problem with that) but that she was being so virulent about it.

Anyway - a new experience for me, being blocked somewhere.

I do think that Charles and William are significantly more intelligent, definitely more emotionally intelligent, and in Charles' case, more intellectually curious, than their younger brothers. If roles were reverse in the case of C&A, I cannot imagine C getting into the same sorts of situation as A - yes, different, and also compromising positions, but not the sort of sexually and financially incontinent behaviour of A.

Starryfifty · Yesterday 20:32

AMW and H both seem very very similar. Very little intelligence and lack empathy. They were also let run wild in the RF and zero consequences for shitty behaviour

I really don't think they could get away with that but anything is possible I guess

Ratherhaveacupofteaandabiscuit · Yesterday 20:56

I was wondering, considering they have now been married over 8 years has H begun to notice M's faults?

Has the combined sexual and mummy attraction dimmed at all?

I have read that he was not happy that she wanted to use the children on her social
media and to promote her jam but that he was persuaded to go along with it.

He lost friends because of her and even if he writes off his family as evil racists what about those friends? Is everybody who dislikes her racist?

Can he genuinely still believe that she is perfect?

Is he still 100% in or does he have niggling doubts creeping in but is too pigheaded to admit them so perseveres no matter what?

We often talk about her dumping him but is there any possibility that the boot could be on the other foot?

Doubtful, because of the children, I would think. What would he do, all on his own in Cali, only seeing the children part time? Only way I could see it happening would be if M and the children stayed in the uk, and that's unlikely to happen. Or not unless they'd been settled here for a few years.

Separate lives under the same roof, with each of them travelling a lot, I could see.
