I was wondering, considering they have now been married over 8 years has H begun to notice M's faults?

Has the combined sexual and mummy attraction dimmed at all?

I have read that he was not happy that she wanted to use the children on her social
media and to promote her jam but that he was persuaded to go along with it.

He lost friends because of her and even if he writes off his family as evil racists what about those friends? Is everybody who dislikes her racist?

Can he genuinely still believe that she is perfect?

Is he still 100% in or does he have niggling doubts creeping in but is too pigheaded to admit them so perseveres no matter what?

We often talk about her dumping him but is there any possibility that the boot could be on the other foot?

Edited

I don't think he will ever see it. He's as Machiavellian as she is. They are perfect for each other

I think the pair of them have made a mess of the "Megxit" . In the sense they have only 10s of millions rather than 100s of millions or whatever . & most of that by trashing H's family. 😂at only 10s of millions - this is not my world.

I actually think M is doing the right think by remaining low key at the moment. Obviously not completely , The Advent Calendar is going to invite ridicule for the price. I don't believe pub car park photos were paparazzi photos for a moment.

I think their bigger problem is H's charity appearances are not portraying him as a sensible patron. They are attracting ridicule . I am sure they and the children will be here until the IG. However , I'm not are they are upping their game in popularity with the UK public.

Starryfifty · Yesterday 21:18

The thing i always found very odd was H's huge turnabout regarding Catherine. They were always very close and he said she was the sister he never had.

I'm never going to be able to keep up with you people. It's 1.45am here in Australia and I need to go to bed. But just quickly, do any of you watch the following royal shows/reporters on youtube? I'll refrain from providing my opinions, I'd prefer to hear yours?

Tom Sykes
Mark Dolan
Kinsey Schofield
Palace Confidential
Royals Uncensored
Robert Jobson

Nigh night X

I have watched Tom Sykes once or twice, he was the one who exposed the Sussex having a WhatsApp group with journalists, which was fun to have the speculation about them feeding the media, actually confirmed. I have watched Kinsey, she sometimes has good guests on, but I cannot stand her as an interviewer so cannot watch her. I think Royals uncensored is probably the best of them,, and as much as I don’t like Piers Morgan I kind of support him for no other reason than he lost his job for speaking, what we now know is, the truth about H&M. I am also enjoying his spat with Charles Spencer and how he has been able to knock CS back into his hole, it feels like poetic justice.

I don’t don’t follow any of them or watch them regularly, but I would watch an episode if someone refers to something interesting on one of the shows.

I think Meghan told Harry she was pregnant, the oldest trick in the book, to force him to propose. She needed to get that ring on her finger quickly before he had second thoughts. Iirc hadn’t he broken things off with her before ? Then she turned up at a wedding she hadn’t been invited to and mad another attempt which was successful.

That's what I recall too. Plus, didn't Tom Bower mention it in his book Revenge? She played all the cards to get that proposal.

Yes and didn't her ex hubby say he knew she "would lock it down"

So the first six people in the LoS have to ask the reigning monarch for permission to marry... Could a situation arise in 20/25 years time where Archie or Lilibet have to ask their Uncle William for permission to marry??!

HaM would combust!!!

Doubtful, because of the children, I would think. What would he do, all on his own in Cali, only seeing the children part time? Only way I could see it happening would be if M and the children stayed in the uk, and that's unlikely to happen. Or not unless they'd been settled here for a few years.

Separate lives under the same roof, with each of them travelling a lot, I could see.

How much does he see of the children? As opposed to their nanny/nannies?

It's an odd dynamic. It reminds me a lot of Edward and Wallis and they remained married for almost 35 years until Edward's death.

  • The power imbalance of a parent-child type relationship - like Wallis, Meghan treats Harry as a child when they're out in public - constantly steering him/patting his back
  • They sort of trapped each other - Meghan used to claim that she gave up her life and acting career 😂for him. Harry literally gave up the royal family for her. Now they are trapped and sort of exiled together, no longer really welcome anywhere apart from a few influencers, Soho House and a couple of pet billionaires that give them freebies. Just like Wallis felt herself trapped when Edward abdicated that she had to stay. I do wonder if both couples thought that the royal family/government would cave and ask them back - but the call never came for either.
  • isolation. They moved to the US and into Covid lockdown and nothing to do - then they sold family conversations for cash to Oprah/Spare etc. Now nobody trusts them and you could never trust them to keep a secret - they won't even keep their own security issues secret. Pretty much like Edward, Wallis and the Nazi's - it's now known that Edward leaked military secrets, using his wartime role as a British Military attaché which helped the Nazi's invade France. The Duke also encouraged the bombing of London to force Britain's capitulation.
  • Harry's infatuation with Meghan - I think he is needy and it stings that only one woman was prepared to marry him (he's the Prince of England doncha know!). Edward was also submissive yet manipulative and totally infatuated
  • Similar public narratives. Meghan portrayed as the social climbing actress who forced Harry to leave the royal family - very similar to Wallis portrayed as a calculating socialite who seduced a king and forced him to abdicate for her. It was a great narrative for selling stories - at first. Now Harry and Meghan want to move back and pick up royal life again - but it's not really working in a similar way that the Windsors wanted to return to Britain during the War but were considered a political and security liability - so were sent off to the Bahamas instead.

I suppose it would depend whether they wanted to keep their places in the LoS.

One or more of the Wales children might have children by then in any case, pushing A & L down the line of succession.

Or the law might be changed to make it only those in the direct line, to avoid such a situation.

I do wonder what will happen when the Hamlets are old enough to make contact on their own account.

I am amusing myself with the idea that H was served a very special pie, along the lines of Minnie's special pie for Hilly in The Help.

Theoretically possible if they choose to remain in the LoS but in 20-25 years
George will be 33-38
Charlotte will be 31-36
Louis will be 28-33

Chances are that Archie and Lilibet will have been knocked down a couple of places by then.

In the 1950s Princess Anne was 2nd in the LoS - now down to 19th - the only way is down for Harry now that his branch won't inherit

I wonder if the short exchange between H and the late Queen was him saying that M was pregnant hence her response ?
Or is that a conspiracy theory too far ?

https://www.express.co.uk/news/royal/2118511/prince-harry-queen-elizabeth-baffling-reply/amp

I think the late Queen was matching his phrasing. Nothing more. His wording was begrudging in tone and rude - given who she was, so her reply was similar.

I think it’s fascinating, @Lunde, that even there the Duke of Windsor got mixed up with the scandal of the Sir Harry Oakes murder. That man seemed to attract trouble and upset and drama. He made himself absent from the Bahamas for the trial, so he didn’t have to give evidence. The culprit remains unknown.

Yes that scandal was totally weird - the way that the Duke ignored British investigative procedures and prevented the Bahamian police from investigating and instead inserted himself into the investigation and hired two police officers from Miami who had been his bodyguards to run the case.

The investigation was botched. They jumped to the conclusion that it was the son-in-law and didn't interview anyone else. Evidence gathering was bungled, the "fingerprint evidence" was falsified by the Miami detectives, Edward left the country during the trial and the suspect was acquitted.

So many theories remain
His indebted business partner
Mysterious assassins
Maffia involvement in casino developments
Nazi involvement
A dodgy scheme to channel money through Mexico (which IIRC Edward was part of)

... but the crime was never solved

I think the HAMlets are still in California. The last time I went out on a limb on here, I had to eat a chunk of @jeffgoldblum 's cheesy hat - I'm dreading a repeat 😒

I’ve been having a mini break ( non Mumsnet personal worries) but I have to pop on to assure you life ….my cheese hat is tasty ….and I will happily chow down with all who have to!!😁

[Shauna Kay] was being very supportive of Charles Spencer (and virulently anti KCIII) on Twitter just after Swan Song was published. I asked a few questions and pointed out a couple of facts and managed to get myself blocked (a first anywhere!).

I saw this, @bluegreygreen and thought she was being ridiculously partisan and think less of her for it. I certainly will not be watching or recommending her again, unless she swivels back to impartiality.

I daresay it has something to do with her collaborationship with Lownie, and that guy’s fantasy of ‘bringing down the monarchy’. Why do all the promising writers and broadcasters always stuff it up over idiots like Spencer and Harry? Crazy.

I've also gone off Shauna Kay since she's starting seriously waving her anti KC3 flag. She used to be much more impartial. As for her and Lownie, they almost flirt with each other, it makes me squirm.

I don't mind Lownie and don't think he's seriously anti-monarchy... he makes good points about accountability and transparency.

Well it’s odd that it hasn’t come out about what school they go to.

I’ve almost given up on trying to keep up with these threads. Especially as the website version on my iPad is almost defunct. Have now resorted to trying to figure out my way around the app.

I am pleased that it hasn’t come about which school they go to, where they’re living, etc. And I really hope the press stick to it remaining that way. The public don’t need to know. And they don’t need any more excuses to be crying out for security. I’m hoping that, the longer they’re here, then the more obvious it becomes that no one is outing their locations. Apart from the “pap” shots of their various pub visits. The ones of them at the pub together are so obviously staged.

Am still pretty flummoxed as to why they’ve come back, not least because “I can’t see a time when … “. But I don’t think it’s anything visa-related. I think it’s all to do with the kids, they need them to be back here to secure how “royal” the kids are. It will be killing M to do so, and will be interesting to see how long she can keep it up for. She’s definitely not daft, she’ll have been getting her ducks in a row the whole time, she knows she’s got a lucrative out when she’s ready. And Harry has facilitated all of it, he’s definitely a floundering fish.

Meanwhile, W & C continue to do “royal” very well. Lovely relationships on both sides of the family. And the kids seem to be doing well. What a contrast.

My biggest takeaway in all of this is imagining how I’d feel if my sibling had done the very long list of what Harry has done. I’d be devastated. Someone who I absolutely loved, doing all of that. I’d feel bereft. Let alone it playing out in the public domain.

Ideal scenario for me would be that they realise the UK isn’t going to work for them. Go back to Cali, get the kids resettled, appreciate what they have as a couple, settle into a quieter life. It’s obviously never going to happen, but it could be so much better if they could do it.

The pub has been Markled 😂

Choux · Today 06:37

Someone asked if Harry might have now realised himself what Meghan is like and that she controls their life. I looked at the pub pap walk pictures:
They are walking together and holding hands but they aren’t physically close.
There seems to be no interaction between them and no smiles from either of them.
H is fidgeting with his spare hand - it’s in his pocket then up scratching his ear. Of course he might genuinely have had an itchy ear.
It appears that, as soon as the pap shots are deemed over, M drops his hand and zooms off fast towards the pub. She is 5ft ahead of him in seconds. H somewhat meekly follows looking not happy at all.

It doesn’t look like it’s going to warm up into a fun date night. If these are HAM produced pap photos they are not trying to show intimacy and happiness. She’s an actress, a giggly expression could have been used if she had wanted to.

So, if they have been published with M / their joint approval, presumably it’s because M is ok to let the world know it’s not all sweetness and light chez HAM.

Prelude to spending more time apart?

I think there are 2 points of contention between AK and KC

QEII had promised her use of her home in Windsor for life - but KC hustled her off to Derbyshire months later

QEII granted AK the unusual blessing to write a book after her death - but KC rescinded permission.

These two points don't make much sense to me. Who actually gets a certain privileged property for life just because they once did a certain job? Once Kelly was no longer working for the Queen she didn't need to be around Windsor. The King bought Kelly a house near her family, so she can hardly complain.

As for the Queen supposedly giving Kelly the "blessing" (whatever that is) to write a book and Charles supposedly rescinding that, what does this even mean? Did the last Queen say "of course, dear Angela, write a book about me and my family from the perspective of a self-proclaimed insider and put whatever you want about us in it" and Charles put a stop to that? I'm sure if there had been any official agreement from the Queen it would have had legal conditions attached to it, an NDA and the suchlike.

I just looked this book thing up, and there are only a few stories from dubious outlets about Charles apparently not wanting Kelly to commercially exploit the words "palace" and "king". Does this mean he's fine with her commercially exploiting the words "Windsor" and "Queen" though? Would Charles be ok with her giving the proceeds to charity, because that wouldn't be commercial exploitation?

twosmallaxolotls · Today 06:53

I agree, @BunnyBunbunbun. AK has got a house for life, which is a good reward by any standard. I'm highly sceptical about the whole story of what was promised and what was rescinded.
