For $150, I can cook an entire vegetarian holiday dinner.

I believe Comparte chocolate is considered to be unusual in flavours and packaged well but not worth the money for what you get chocolate wise.

As ever, as usual?

Something like that?

Ok. Something like that? What's the connection to Portsmouth?

The more this goes on the more I actually feel sorry for H. From what I've read (mostly on here) he was brought up believing himself to be equal to W, which was a great disservice for his future life. I also think the fact he has no other siblings is a huge issue for him. If there had been another spare then I wonder if he'd have the same sense of grievance that he so obviously struggles with.

Its such a shame that Charles and Diana's marriage didn't last, as I can imagine an alternate universe where H and one other spare (let's call her Victoria) took on roles much like Anne and Edward and were valued working royals for many years, which would be a great support to KC and to future KW.

This is so true. A sibling would have helped immeasurably. You could roll your eyes to each other regarding all the pomp as you dress in your feathered hats and buckled shoes, then say "suppose we better go and support the poor bugger then," as you climb into a horse drawn carriage.
As if was, it was just Harry being a sidekick. A spare sidekick once Catherine came along.

Or he might have been just as vile to that sibling as he was to William.

Catching up but firstly @bluegreygreen thank you for the first archived Closer article. Haven't read the second one yet - but this stuck out to me
"‘She still feels there was always this unspoken hierarchy....."

No , dear , in a constitutional monarchy , there is an actual hierarchy , you may not like it but it is true" 😊

"Unspoken hierarchy" (if she genuinely believed that, which i doubt) might explain why she thought they were going to 'collaborate' with HM.

If she didn't believe it then she must be the only person in the known universe (apart from her OH) to not know how the British monarchy operates and is structured. Openly structured at that, it's not unspoken.

Someone who cares about her should take her to one side and tell her to keep her gob shut, because every time she opens it she just demonstrates more of her total ignorance.

I saw some footage of Catherine in Sussex. I noticed how tactile she was with the people she was meeting, a laugh was accompanied by a touch on the back. There were hugs etc. I thought Catherine and William were criticized for not being huggers. Has this changed, or did we just not notice before? I think Meghan complained that Catherine was off as she wasn't the hugger Meghan is.

I think the POW gave the passengers the respect and affection their age warranted. I thought she looked as if she was talking to her granny and her friends.

Cowes and Portsmouth are on the Solent. It's a pun.

So, somewhere on the A47? 🤪

Peterborough is nice. Or Fotheringhay where that other Duke of York, Richard III, was born.

I don’t think there is one. It was just an excuse to use “solent” 🤷‍♀️😆

BasiliskStare · 01/10/2026 13:19

@ShamedBySiri , I'm with @Scorchio84 here - that F&M advent record player has a very certain charm. I'm trying to reconcile buying it for DS and his partner. Partner is an accomplished singer (also studied German at Yale) and because DS bought a flat last year , they do more entertaining at home for obvious less disposable income reasons, so this could be very amusing for them. Or get the biggest eyeroll ever 😂 Of course the 3 saddest words in the English language "batteries not included" but I am sure I have some spares somewhere, bit like KC.

H doesn't have any appreciation of how normal people live. Which is , he's lived a rarified life where he didn't have to pay for anything , and even after leaving that life of his own accord , doesn't seem to understand "cut your cloth...".
If you have rich friends and are prepared to lig off them , fair enough , but I'm not sure it's even occurred to him to think - OK , here are my large inheritances , here are the big $$$ we scooped initially , here's what M makes , why don't we see if we can live a nice family life off that. I'm not great at spreadsheets , but give me two days and even I reckon I could show them how they could.

Oh no please don’t encourage that - otherwise we wouldn’t have this pantomime she delivers for ridicule the world over FOR FREE on an almost daily basis. Please don’t make it stop. I so enjoy watching the delusional, narcissistic bully make an absolute tit of herself day in day out.

It is, but it is also Latin for “as they usually do” or “as usual”. Just a word game. Bit of a stretch really 😜

Also where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned and beheaded. Might be a useful location for any other pretenders to the throne to dwell on their fortune in not being born in the 16th century and be a little more grateful for what they have.

That line above all shows what a dolt she is. The hierarchy is spoken - in the Windsor family tree. H should have shown her one of the many diagrams available online to help her understand. There are even photos of each Royal!

I suppose there is a certain warped pleasure in watching someone make a complete tit of themselves on a regular basis and they're the only one who doesn't know it.

I had a colleague like that. He was an insufferable knowall and pedant (and I speak as one who can be both), When we started using Office back in the early 90s no-one told him that Excel can add up in spreadsheets, we let him get on with filling the figures in then adding them up on a calculator.

littlecoffeemug · 01/10/2026 13:30

Poor H. Obviously, he's been parked back in the UK by Meghan, in the same way I used to park DC in front of CBeebies for a bit, whilst I got on with some chores.

H didn't magically catapult her into the Hollywood stratosphere as she assumed he would and the money is now running low. She assessed the situation a while back and decided staying married to a dim, petulant, balding, ginger man baby wasn't part of her playbook.

She's already mentally left the marriage.

I agree, ACupOfVintage, and that's where an ability to understand the demographic and slot yourself in using an approprtiate manner gets you

Most of us do it quite naturally - though obviously not in such public view - but Meghan's interest in herself to the exclusion of all else was never going to produce anything more than a "act" of caring

And even that fails ...

ShamedBySiri · 01/10/2026 13:36

If Harry had had a younger sibling he just would have had two people to be jealous of! Middle child syndrome.

The golden first child, son and heir. The adored youngest, perhaps the baby intended to save the marriage. A sister? Diana would have adored a daughter who probably would have been earmarked as confidante in chief as William became more immersed in university, girlfriends, duty. She might even have been in the mold of Princess Anne (& a future Princess Charlotte). Obsessed with horses but also understanding duty and not afraid to tell H what he was doing wrong.
On the other hand, an adored youngest son might have been raised to understand he wasn’t even the spare and should expect to have a career and enjoy freedom from duty whilst Harry’s role as spare and wingman was emphasised more explicitly.

Plenty of room for resentment!

Amazon Prime is confirmed as the global live streamer for The Earthshot Prize Awards in India in November. Clearly written announcement coverage everywhere.

The sponsorship of Birmingham Invictus by Amazon Prime is much messier - role of Kris Jenner, Meghan complications. Is it real or fake news?
