About the serialisation, I recently read it’s the publisher who gets paid for the serialisation not the author, apparently its part of the overall deal between the publisher and author.

AristocraticAutumnCrowFight · 20/09/2026 09:15

Oh dear lord, I’ve just seen Spencer’s claim about reading his eulogy to Diana in her coffin … he just happened notice while sitting there that he had his eulogy in his pocket … and he felt she was applauding him.

Oh for fuck’s sake.

Things That Never Happened In That Book #397.

I am just trying to imagine Harry's performance now had he not been allowed to take part!
The Sussex fans would be ripping into the RF.
It's one of those things no-one could get right.

Exactly. It doesn’t take much imagination to imagine the narrative in spare. “Kept away from my own mother’s funeral, whilst Willy, the future dog bowl pusher, was centre stage. S’not fair”.

"I was desperate to walk behind my mum's coffin, on her final journey. Pa said no; this was a cynical attempt to exclude me and try to stop me effectively mourning. I still think about that terrible slight every day"

twosmallaxolotls · 20/09/2026 09:19

"Can you imagine stopping a young boy from walking behind his mother's coffin? The Windsors are unbelievably cruel".

So it appears the spiteful, abusive CS has joined forces with dim Harry and the proven liar and bully MM. Quelle surprise! Birds of a feather etc.
Also according to Neil Sean ,the reason why the Irish Guards were at that Invictus gig is that you can hire them! Still it’s all about the optics. Look, it’s Royally endorsed….

That’s fascinating, I looked it up because I found it hard to believe they can be hired privately and it’s true

“Yes, you can hire the Band of the Irish Guards (or small ensembles from it) for private and commercial events, provided the booking does not conflict with their official royal and state duties”

Invictus have a lot to answer for !

IAmATorturedPoet · 20/09/2026 09:23

I would be interested in H&M putting out a statement or commenting on the book - as they have had a lot to say or clap back to on everything and anything. Their silence is revealing.

@RepercussionsMayVary I’m thinking the Sussexes may be getting the money from the book, or at least a cut of it. 🦢

So do we think we are going to see any mention of Diana's affairs? Just trying to imagine the spin he will put on those sorry episodes.

Mylovelygreendress · 20/09/2026 06:53

I didn’t know all that so thanks for the information.
Wonder what Sarah and Jane think about all this ? Interesting that they went to Paris with C and CS didn’t bother .
Also wonder what all the ex wives , daughters , ex lovers think . And let’s not forget his once best friend Darius Guppy whose wife he tried to seduce .
What a deeply unpleasant character CS is and H is making a big mistake aligning himself with him and his tawdry book .
Makes me even more glad that W was born first and that he met and married Catherine . I remember the sneers at the time but the Middletons have proved to be an asset to our future King.

Urgh, friends with Darius Guppy? That figures 😐

I wonder if they thought it would bolster their popularity, isn’t Charles horrid, poor Harry etc.
It won’t, if people lose support for the RF then that’s them too. There is clearly very little critical thinking or professional advice being used. They will never exist or anyone be interested in them, outside of being part of the RF.
I don’t think M will turn up on Tuesday, the lack of numbers for Harry already shows where their popularity stands, and they announced where he would be, so can’t blame that.

Yes, and that applies to CS as much as H&M, if not more. I'm not much of a monarchist, but can respect the current institution for making an effort to remain relevant to ordinary people, and for trying to keep its distance from the über-wealthy and the aristocracy. Among my more republican friends, one of the more cogent arguments against a constitutional monarchy is that it cannot distance itself from the aristocracy. Simply by existing, it perpetuates centuries of a highly stratified society with a vast gulf between the Haves and the Have Nots. I doubt CS understands that whereas the British public may retain a fondness for the monarchy, it has none whatsoever for the aristocracy.

Edited

I think that rumoured documentary by H&M will be off the back of this book.

Yeh, that they expect to be able to use the bus lane.

The fact that they never worked out that Lili finishes an hour before Archie, on top of not factoring school traffic in, means this idea that somehow they will be a rival court to the Royals is nonsense. They are as thick as two short planks and their security don’t seem much brighter.

I saw this on the other thread. I mean, how stupid are they? Surely this is like a completely basic first question you would ask? Did this kind of timing issue not come up in the States? They were both in some kind of educational setting there, weren't they?
Flabbergasted.

I've skipped over a few pages.

Breaking news on the BBC, Charles S is saying Harry and Meghan are being treated like Diana by the media. It's beginning to seem less like a serious biography and more like a concerted campaign in which he is clearly Team Sussex rather than Team Truth. The whole focus on Harry in the funeral narrative now makes me sense. He is undermining his credibility.

I no longer watch or read BBC news. It is now little more than a tabloid gossip site. Have they asked a drag queen what he thinks of this yet?

Ah yes, things are becoming clearer now - the trip to Althorp in the summer, posting photos from there, the hasty return, the airbrushing out of William from the story, the sly use of the swan emoji, now this aligning H+M with Diana. God knows what the goal is - obviously money for Uncle Charles, but is it just destabilisation, just pissing off KC3? Or trying to rehab Harry’s poor popularity ratings, so he can return as a working royal with CS as his adviser or something. Maybe Harry hopes learning a load of lies about KC3’s treatment of Diana will wreck William’s relationship with him and maybe even persuade William that it’s Harry he needs. I mean it all sounds like a completely deranged plan of course, but.. somehow also quite characteristic of H+M 🤔

Interesting piece here from Andrew Morton in the Times, confirming that there were rows about the funeral, but also reminding everyone that many of the other tales are not new. King Charles and Earl Spencer may both live to regret this episode

https://www.thetimes.com/article/3b20170c-0f74-4ebc-8d99-872ac3bd30d9?shareToken=aea641471efe2663e334e24ca5377c6c

I certainly had a sharp intake of breath at the sight of both Harry and William behind their mother’s coffin at the funeral, but partly due to my own experience of experiencing parental loss in childhood. I don’t remember it being widely condemned by others at the time. I do recognise though that trying to find a balance between protecting H and W, and involving them in the funeral would have been incredibly difficult. If Morton is correct about Prince Philip, his memories of dealing with the loss of his sister and the consequent understanding that the boys needed to pay their respects make sense to me.

In contrast this is The Guardian's take on the King's statement. I agree it wasnt the master stroke that reflections may vary was, but they are countering more far reaching claims. Better to do one statement that isn't perfect than get sucked into tit for tat on each line.

From ‘there were three of us in this marriage’ to ‘recollections may vary’, a lot can be conveyed with a carefully worded phrase

When the decision was made for it not to be a private funeral it was always going to be a spectacle along royal line, I would have thought.

Harry does seem to get dragged into other people's plans fairly often. I suspect he thinks this is bolstering his status as Diana's son. Charles S is simply using Harry in his grudge.

The thing about the Sussex/Spencer Vs the King

Do they GENUINELY think they can destabilise the monarchy?

And if so, to what end? Let's assume they're successful and take the king down.... Then what? Remove the monarchy entirely?

If they don't have ties to the monarchy, who would be interested in them and what they have to say??

They're not exactly known for their intelligence, and long-term thinking. 😉

noonames · 20/09/2026 09:59

RepercussionsMayVary · 20/09/2026 08:10

I agree with this. It will be tomorrows chip paper as CS has zero credibility.

Hilarious if H&M thought they could come to the UK for some royal glitter adjacency to boost their coffers and gain some victimhood hood kudos with a ‘told you so smirk’ from CS ‘revelations’

As Ever their cynical, vicious meddling will leave them covered in shit not glitter.

I would be interested in H&M putting out a statement or commenting on the book - as they have had a lot to say or clap back to on everything and anything. Their silence is revealing.

I wonder whether now it’s all going a bit wrong, are they are beginning to think they’d be better off saying something to distance themselves. Harry could easily say - “I love my dad and he was never mean about our mum, they were good friends and he was devastated when she died. He did his best for her and for us. I don’t believe he would act like this. It’s disappointing. Enough has been made off the back of her life by people more interested in money than in truth. Let her rest in peace.”

But silly Meghan using the swan emoji has made it harder for them to look like it’s nothing to do with them now. And a stance like that would also make his own doc difficult of course. (But probably not impossible in Harry’s head where u turns and hypocrisy are frequent and don’t need any explanation.)

I suspect they think the RF ‘need’ them, as the cool popular kids. That they can sweep in and make them popular again if only given a chance.
I see a lot of SF go on about how boring W&C are, about HAM true love compared to theirs, how much they are needed. When in fact none of that matters.

Invictus have a lot to answer for !

For me it's more a case of how much did they spend on raising that 1.7 million. Possibly more than 1.7 million.

It’s interesting that because of the many threads springing up and being on trending and active, a lot of posters that I haven’t seen on the Royal board are commenting at the begin of them (ie before the regulars have found them) and almost all condemning Spencer.

Not wanting to make this about another thread, but what happened to the one asking the yes or no question about believing Charles Spencer? That was a clear majority that didn’t believe him but it’s disappeared 🤷‍♀️

There are two of those - there’s one in RF which is 2:1 in favour of KC3 (I can still see it, will post a link if you’d like). And then they tried the same question in AIBU, presumably hoping that a more general readership - ie not we frothing, foaming, overinvested forelock tuggers - would give the opposite result. It’s a bit closer but still more in favour of KC3 than CS.

The book Charles Spencer has written about Diana and Charles marriage is called Swan Song.

Meghan added a Swan emoji it’s a totally irrelevant text, it’s another one of her cryptic messages, clearly showing her and Harry’s alliance and support for CS book.
