I hope this comment is allowed. It’s not about the contents of CP book. MM has used a random swan 🦢 emoji in the blurb on one of her As Ever Official posts on Instagram. Not so subtle endorsement?

I agree. I think the three of them ((HAM and CS) think that surely this will bring down the monarchy. I think it’s actually doing the opposite.

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 20/09/2026 08:19

CS has, in my view, made a very big mistake, if he is aiming to make money out of this book. By being so strident and sensationalist in what he says about the King, who is largely very well regarded and seen as a kind man, he is alienating a large chunk of the 'royal book' buying public. I assume he had a big payout from the DM and that will be the justification for publishing, because I can't see the book selling in large quantities. People who are interested in the royals and might have been interested in Diana's early life may well be out off by his attacks on KC and the way William is ignnored and sidelined in favour of Harry (the poor orphan boy, get the violins out etc).

Aligning himself with HaM, and minimising the experience of William is manipulative and cynical.

Agree with everything @BigWillyLittleTodger
It’s clear they were actually planning the move back here for some time, which incidentally puts new light on their relationship with Ian Wace as I assume they didn’t ring him up at short notice and say “oh Ian we need somewhere to live, secure, near Cotswolds, have you any suggestions?????”

It also puts a different perspective on their visit to KC in July, when they must have been making their plans but appear to have kept him in the dark. For all their professions of joy at meeting with him and showing him the grandchildren I think it is clear there won’t be more meetings any time soon and they don’t seem concerned. They had just hoped to get that money picture of them all with the King and thank goodness he (and or advisors) were canny enough to deny them that.

As to CS cutting William out of the narrative it seems his relationship with W is less than warm, possibly due to William removing his little stream of income related to displaying some of Diana’s belongings.
From a post on X:

“Charles Spencer's profiting of Princess Diana's memory and death needs to be exposed:

🛑 Made £25M touring her bridal gown and personal items across the US

🛑 Made £15 million more displaying them at Althorp for 15 years -to 2013

🛑 That grift only stopped in 2013 when Prince William turned 30 and took legal control of his mother's personal possessions and moved them back to Kensington Palace.”

Shame on the BBC joining in and cutting William from the pictures.

Finally another vote of sympathy for Jeff. But best ignore the poster who is in bad faith. I have also reported several posts.

This explains CS's sidelining of William and 'poor Harry' narrative. William stopped CS's gravy train. I suspect William has now seen and experienced genuinely loving and supportive family, and can see what CS is 'offering' doesn't fit the spin.

AtIusvue · 20/09/2026 08:28

CS is also coming across as pathetically childish with the clapbacks at KC, very like Meg n Harry PR clapbacks

  • ‘It’s is not every day you wake up to find you've been gaslit by the King,' he said.
'It was astonishingly provocative and below the belt because it was essentially trying to say I'd lied without the King being able to deny what I'd said.
  • ’ I also thought it was a rather poor imitation of the "recollections may vary" quote, which was a much more elegant way of putting things, but in these circumstances entirely out of place.'

CS has said some horrific things about KC and yet he feels the one hard done by? Again, just like Harry.

I agree. But also his market was already tiny - no one under 50 knows or cares about Diana - that’s a huge loss of market - which then only leaves you with a niche audience who as you say if they are Diana fans over 50 are likely to be Royalists and into the fairytale - and he potentially then has alienated this group pre publication with the serialisation.

I am a republican but I can see how public opinion of KC has mellowed and he is seen as an elderly man with poor health - you only have to look at him. I don’t think there is the appetite for kicking an elderly man with cancer in the last years of his life.

The timing is all wrong on this Diana’s heyday was almost half a century ago - shes a remote historical figure who would be like us in the 80s being bothered about an historical figure from the 1930s and being arsed about a he said ahe said.

It’s interesting that because of the many threads springing up and being on trending and active, a lot of posters that I haven’t seen on the Royal board are commenting at the begin of them (ie before the regulars have found them) and almost all condemning Spencer.

Not wanting to make this about another thread, but what happened to the one asking the yes or no question about believing Charles Spencer? That was a clear majority that didn’t believe him but it’s disappeared 🤷‍♀️

Finally caught up ! This memoir is for the birds (🦢)

I agree @BigWillyLittleTodger I now think the Sussex’s hotfooted it back here to have a ringside seat to what they hoped would be Charles downfall. Meghan has been purposely publicizing their alliance and bond with CS knowing what was coming down the track. Despicable trio.

I wonder if they thought it would bolster their popularity, isn’t Charles horrid, poor Harry etc.
It won’t, if people lose support for the RF then that’s them too. There is clearly very little critical thinking or professional advice being used. They will never exist or anyone be interested in them, outside of being part of the RF.
I don’t think M will turn up on Tuesday, the lack of numbers for Harry already shows where their popularity stands, and they announced where he would be, so can’t blame that.

Most if them were from either new or name changed posters.

So they clearly had an agenda.

JoanChitty · 20/09/2026 08:35

So it appears the spiteful, abusive CS has joined forces with dim Harry and the proven liar and bully MM. Quelle surprise! Birds of a feather etc.
Also according to Neil Sean ,the reason why the Irish Guards were at that Invictus gig is that you can hire them! Still it’s all about the optics. Look, it’s Royally endorsed….

Hi, long time lurker here, have watched along since thread 1 of these but never been brave enough to post after watching all the derailing attempts from others you all contend with, my spidey senses were off after being keen to watch the Engagement interview and then thinking it was really strange and until then nothing had happened with Meghan’s father but Harry had not actually met him, from then it didn’t surprise me that they flounced later, it all seemed very fake, I dont think Meghan has ever been genuine in her life and the Harry we knew was just what the palace presented to us as a fun guy, I think Harry was always as spiteful as he is now it was just hidden from us.

I remember at the time of Diana’s death thinking CS was monopolising his sister by wanting her buried on an Island at Althrop and how sad it was that the person who supposedly loved people was going to be isolated on her own forever. I was shocked to see the boys walking behind the coffin but my grandparents were not surprised and talked about how Philip had walked behind his sisters coffin when he was young so I think it was different times and generations probably viewed it as the done thing.

As for Harry and Meghan nobody needed to know they were moving here or that they have changed schools that was all from their own doing and I hope they dont get security funded by the UK. Thank you to everyone for keeping these threads going.

I’m still behind, but wanted to respond to this. DH and I said at the time that CS’s main motivation for providing a final resting place for Diana was financial. Especially as he wouldn’t help her when she was alive. What an absolute twunt he was and is.

Thedom · 20/09/2026 08:38

hesterscrestcake · 20/09/2026 00:35

It’s interesting to note how sympathetic to Harry CS is, yet William is glossed over, almost as if they are both trying to literally brush William out and take sole ownership of her memory
How unkind and such a lack of emotion intelligence. William must feel so hurt on some level. It's not a good look on either CS nor the Sussexes.

William is probably thanking the good lord he has had little to nothing to do with Charles Spencer. I wonder did he give William a heads up he was releasing a book, purportedly about his mother, but turns out it’s about his father (so far).

WilliamsExtraSausage · 20/09/2026 08:39

bluegreygreen · 20/09/2026 01:43

I suspect Charles S waited until Robert Fellowes died before writing the book.

As the Queen's private secretary, as well as husband to Jane Spencer, he would have been in a good position to confirm or refute a lot of Charles' allegations.

If CS really did wait for his sister to be widowed, knowing that his BiL would have tried to stop him when alive, then that shows the utter contempt and disdain he has for all his sisters, let alone women in general. What a loathsome fckface.

What’s happening on Tuesday? Is it the last of his published ‘public engagements’ for September - Well Child? She will 100% not turn up - not enough glitter too much shit - same as her U turn in July when they announced she would be accompanying him on all his public appearances but once ANL result was to be announced she flaked. She’s only ever in it for No1.

I think most people recognise the family relationships can be complicated, but the way to maintain healthy relationships is to either discuss it privately, or forgive and move on.

Also that everyone sometimes makes mistakes, especially while stressed and grieving, whether they phrase something clumsily or mishear/ misunderstanding a remark.

Again, the way to deal with that is either talk directly to the person involved, or forgive and move on.

Not publicise a version of events that can't be proved and therefore can't be disproved by your target.

There is absolutely no point in KC3 engaging - apart from the lack.of good faith from CS, any denial would be met with 'he would say that wouldn't he' and be twisted into some sort of confirmation.

I completely agree with this... When my father in law died my mother in law said something awful to my husband (her son). Really awful.. It has never been mentioned since - it's like we are all pretending it wasn't said. In my mind she was grieving and it would serve no purpose to ever bring it up again.

The idea that this comment could be brought up in a book! It just shows what a nasty, spiteful character CS is. And same for HaM if they are supporting him - you are a very clever lot to make the connection.

Handbagsandoldcurtains · 20/09/2026 09:00

Interesting piece here from Andrew Morton in the Times, confirming that there were rows about the funeral, but also reminding everyone that many of the other tales are not new. King Charles and Earl Spencer may both live to regret this episode

https://www.thetimes.com/article/3b20170c-0f74-4ebc-8d99-872ac3bd30d9?shareToken=aea641471efe2663e334e24ca5377c6c

I certainly had a sharp intake of breath at the sight of both Harry and William behind their mother’s coffin at the funeral, but partly due to my own experience of experiencing parental loss in childhood. I don’t remember it being widely condemned by others at the time. I do recognise though that trying to find a balance between protecting H and W, and involving them in the funeral would have been incredibly difficult. If Morton is correct about Prince Philip, his memories of dealing with the loss of his sister and the consequent understanding that the boys needed to pay their respects make sense to me.

But why would they want to bring down the very institution that HAM are desperate to be part of ? If rumours are true, they wanted A and L to be known by their titles at school 1 but were told first names only .
Is it not more that they are trying to force KC to letting them back by threatening a never ending series of “ truth bombs” either directly or by association and continuing with their faux Royal activities?
They need to be very careful as there is a LOT of digging around going on if we are to believe X( which I freely admit is often rubbish but there are facts scattered around!)

The Sussex fans would be ripping into the RF.
It's one of those things no-one could get right.

Warmhandscoldheart · 20/09/2026 09:08

CS is still using his sister for his own disgraceful monetary gains while backstabbing KC.

When someone dies the NOK usually arranges the details, KC was not Diana's NOK. CS could have said we want a private ceremony because of the media intrusion and their implied circumstances of her death.

But no, he left it to KC and the RF to organise a royal funeral something they didn't actually have to do.

And also why is our license fee being wasted giving that weasel airtime to plug his waste of paper.
