He's a self confessed drug user. I'm baffled he'd be allowed a school visit

Absolutely, that's what surprises me. I think very badly of the school for allowing it.

Totally agree. How DARE they?

Their parents would have given consent for this.

It's not like they just turned up without notice and started filming. This whole event would have been RAed by the school, consent forms etc filled in.

Is like to see more video of his school visit. He came across a very disconnected from the teens and they seemed pretty disinterested in him. I'm surprised as I would have thought Harry would be better at this type of visit.

But of a contrast with the video of the teens spotting William in his car.

With Harry it's all about a performance. Doing the "down with the kidz" class clown routine worked very well for him 15-20 years ago. It focussed the media attention on him, while it also absolved him from actually having to learn stuff for the engagement - a huge contrast to William and Catherine who sit down and chat knowledgeably to the people they meet.

He hasn't moved on from the "all lads together" banter from his 20s. But society has moved on from the "lads and ladette" trend of the early 2000s - and schools are less tolerant of stupid behaviour as well, hence the kids looking around nervously. Now Harry's in his 40s it comes across more of a try-too-hard, cringey uncle. But he doesn't understand this.

William does understand this - and leans into it. He often lets things slip about embarrassing the kids. William is a grown up and know he's a dad in his 40s whereas Harry is still playing Peter Pan.

Starryfifty · 19/09/2026 16:24

What age group are the kids? I find it very difficult to make out

AcrossthePond55 · 19/09/2026 16:25

"We weren't even allowed to use the bus lanes" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Can't you hear the absolute astonishment in their voices? I'm just surprised they even bothered to ask (assuming they did).

I wonder if they expected to 'cut the line' in the drop off lane. I would have feared for my very life if I had tried that. Someone once pulled to a stop in the 'through' lane next to the drop off lane to let their child out, another no no. They were a social pariah for at least two terms for that. (ETA the parents, not the child)

I still wonder if HAM chose the new school because they figure they'll be the biggest fish in that smaller pond.

Edited

Yes and no ! , if it’s like my children’s school you receive a consent form at the beginning of each term asking if you consent for your children’s image to be used for school purposes and activities…my daughter was on the cover of the school prospective for example…I had no idea until I was waiting in the foyer to pick her up once, so they may have given consent for school purposes but not this …..or yes they may have been asked separately for this occasion…..we don’t really know.

Not only should Harry know this due to his military training, you would think that he would also know from his time in the RF what style of dress is appropriate. So despite this double whammy, it’s all gone 🤷‍♀️

I think a lot of the reason behind his deliberate scruffiness is his determination to position himself as the anti-William.

See also: bum-slapping, todger references, manic leaping around, etc etc. He's a rebel! He's cool and down with the kidz! He's not some buttoned-up Royal conformist like his brother!

The problem is, William is extremely good at his job. And Harry is attempting to do very much the same job. So trying to be the opposite of William is not actually a clever choice at all.

Lunde · 19/09/2026 16:27

JSMill · 19/09/2026 07:56

When I saw him floundering in that video, I thought of when he visited my friend’s school in about 2016 and when he left, he said ‘good luck calming the kids down this afternoon’. He was popular then but I thought ‘he’s a bit up himself’. Now, ten years later, the kids don’t give him a second glance.

You know William once said that this chaotic style of being the "fun one" and hyping everyone up was what Diana would have been like as a grandmother. So perhaps Harry imitates what he lived as a child with Diana and thinks it will get him the same results?

I don't think Diana ever related to Harry as growing up in the way she did to William.

Starryfifty · 19/09/2026 16:32

one of Harry's (many) problems is William is extremely popular and he's "out in force" a lot now. As is Catherine. I think her illness, now I am phrasing this very badly I know, did engender them both with people who otherwise thought very little of them. William and the "our next king" was lovely and you could see he was genuinely thrilled. If that spontaneous moment happened with H, he'd be totally lost

Just had a look at the video in the school in Birmingham. My god Harry looks so shabby! The kids are so smart in their uniforms, but he turns up in faded jeans and a greying tshirt? That's the type of thing you wear on a weekend when you know you're probably only going to leave the house to run into the Tesco Express for some milk and eggs. Definitely not what you wear on a 'royal' visit to a school. No wonder the poor kids look bored. Show a bit of respect and you might get some in return. Or not.

Harry should really find a valet who loves him 😉😉😉

😂

My DH dresses smarter than that for a hospital visit (he wants his consultant to think he's worth saving). I really hate his scruffy look.

Given that this was an Ingriftus even - why isn't he wearing a new and freshly ironed IG polo shirt?

Ridiculous, isn’t it! Swans have absolutely nothing to do with her range - unless she’s breeding a new range of miniature swans and they’ve produced the eggs on the shelf 🤷‍♀️

A pro pros nothing in particular, Swans used to be eaten as a sign of wealth, but apparently they are a very tough and unpleasant to eat. So I hope Meghan isn’t going to breed swans for dinner 😂😂

jeffgoldblum · 19/09/2026 16:48

I also take issue with her references to that as filling your pantry or pantry favourites!!! , tea , spread , honey and apparently lemons!! , where is the actual “pantry “ food? , she’s ignorant and insufferable!

MeghanAndTheSeals · 19/09/2026 16:49

I’m kind of hoping she does try to add swans to her range of edible shit - she’d very quickly land in hot water and the King would have the perfect excuse to have her prosecuted 😂

IdaGlossop · 19/09/2026 16:49

It seems to me that it's William who is far more of a rebel than Harry.

William took his time and married a non-aristo. He refuses to wear a kilt and dislikes 'dressing up' in general. He's taking capital from the Duchy of Cornwall to fund public-facing projects. He's been explicit that things will change when he's king. He is openly affectionate with his children in public. He's not afraid to be 'one of the lads' except he's not). He keeps his own counsel. He prioritises his children and family life over Royal duties. He's interested in concepts like servant leadership. He lives according to a set of moral values he's worked out for himself.

Harry is merely one of a long train of entitled, emotionally incontinent Royal men with dubious interests who don't know how to behave, most recently Andrew and Edward VIII.

Only the monarch is allowed to eat swan.

I will likely get flamed here big style, but here goes anyway.

I get the thing with Invictus. Supporting injured troops and so on. A noble cause. But what on earth can they be doing in schools? Is this not glorifying war? Is it not a bit like saying to kids, join up, fight for King and Country, and if it goes wrong, no worry because Invictus is here to help.

And while on it, sorry.... it's not exactly inclusive is it? Lets help Harry because he has PTSD from machine gunning people from his Apache... but lets do nothing for the families of the people that he machine gunned. What sort of message does that give kids ?

I can't see how it should be in schools at all. Schools should be about unifying people. Not splitting them into good and bad.

I think this is going to be a huge issue in Birmingham - especially if the IDF veterans attend

Well Meghan will definitely be up for trying it then
