What is more secure about this new school? I don't ever recall a kidnap attempt on any high profile children in the UK

Since their security is freaked out by traffic jams, I assume this school is in the middle of nowhere. Really this is NY car chase levels of ridiculousness. William and Catherine have done the school run for years, as have others, with no problems at all. At what point is the press going to stop repeating the Sussex narrative and start pointing out the inconsistencies?

VictorianScreenTime · Yesterday 22:22

Long time lurker on these threads but this latest move has forced me to comment. I cannot believe they would do this to their poor kids- a huge move to a new country and now pulling them out of the school they had been prepared for and begun to be settled into? WTAF?!

Either this is a complete lie made up to bolster their prolonged security breath-holding attack, or they are really genuinely awful parents. I hope it’s the former. Before now I’ve enjoyed watching their ridiculous antics but now I’m just really pissed off with them because they are so bloody casual about the happiness of their little children😡 Badly done HAM, badly done.

Rentfreeinyourhead · Yesterday 22:25

Maybe they couldn’t afford the £250 per head tickets for School 1’s Gala Dinner next March. But do they realise that they have to give one FULL term’s notice and because term has already started, the full term in question is actually next term? So that’s two terms they have to pay for, this term and next term. For nothing.

MrsFinkelstein · Yesterday 22:25

I have to be honest and say I really don't care about the Sussex children.

I hope they're safe and happy. But I have zero interest in where or even if, they go to school. I don't need to know. None of the public so.

H&M would do well to actually focus on their children. They shouldn't be used to sell their mothers business and they certainly shouldn't be used as bait by their father in his scheming to get tax payer funded full-time security.

Security which, when he did have it himself, he spent most of his time moaning about and trying to get away from.

Rural so no city/town traffic? Perhaps a back entrance that are being given separate access to so they can sweep straight up to the door and bundle the children inside unseen?

Better access for Backgrid photographers?

I know a lot of us on the fence about stripping the titles but this has become a circus. It's highlighting the ridicule of the RF (as highlighted after AWM and his teddy bears etc)

Every single day there is a ludicrous headline and they only hear a fortnight. I think KC needs to strip them of everything. Plan mr and Mrs Windsor or whatever

PrivateCitizenTooDimforDiplomacy · Yesterday 22:29

I don't know about Oxford schools (if that's where they were) but a lot of private schools around me have mini buses and pick up children from various points on the routes into the city. I suppose Lily is a bit young for a bus but they could have the nanny accompany her to begin with. Honestly that would be the safest way to manage the school run.

As for the whole convoy thing - none of the Royals have convoys most of the time though I have seen the King drive by followed by his security in a Range Rover. But William cut up DH on the road near Highgrove, quite a few years back, always in a car just him and a security person. Diana used to drive the children around in her car with security chap in the from seat. (Did she have the security when the boys were with her, after she stopped her Met security? I don't even remember knowing what the arrangements were for the boys when they were with their mother.) It's just ridiculous. And as a pp said (possibly on the other thread) if they just used an old Ford with tinted windows that would be the safest of all options.

I know lots of posters don’t approve of Enty gossip so scroll past

“ The kids never went to that new school. Not even for five minutes. Now, it could be just someone messing with the system, but Laurel Springs School which is arguably the best online private school in California does have two Mountbatten-Windsor children registered. No way of knowing if they have been attending because you do it on your own time and it is a rolling start process.“

So they have never been to actual school in their lives before moving to the UK?

Why did they need to announce that they’d moved schools 🤷‍♀️

I’VE GOT IT!!!!

They had to move schools because the American security convo drivers don’t know how to drive on the left.

It's funny how the Wales' children, the children of other royals, the children/grandchildren of foreign royals (including the Sultan of Brunei) plus the children of the very famous, and multimillionaires, have all managed to go to school in the UK just fine.
Not Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet!

They are terrible parents.

I can honestly say I have no interest in Archie or Lilibet, I don’t care what they look like, how they sound or where they go to school, but suddenly I find myself caring that they are stuck with this pair of dimwits for parents.

Those poor children, what a life they have to look forward to.

BillyBites · Yesterday 22:45

In fairness to the security team, if the whole "let's move to the UK" wheeze really was as last-minute as reported (which I think many of us disregarded) because of waiting for school places to become available), then they probably didn't have an opportunity to stress-test the journey in term-time - especially as their accommodation may well not have been finalised until the last minute also.
What an absolute shit-show - As Ever.

IdaGlossop · Yesterday 22:45

Why didn't they do a dummy run and see what traffic was like for the school run. Imagine having drivers etc so utterly gormless.

They did. In the Summer holidays. It mustn't have occurred to them that there would be a lot more traffic in term time. Utterly gormless, as you say.

Probably

BillyBites · Yesterday 22:50

Mind you, if they'd been reading these threads, we could have told them that the Oxford school (if that's the one we're talking about) was a nightmare for traffic.
