I can't help but feel that all of this boils down to the RF not drawing out firm lines when they stepped back as senior royals. It was too vague and H & M have done nothing but take advantage of it ever since. Why are they on the RF website? Why are they still in the LoS and why do their children have titles? All of this should have been dealt with at the time, and now the RF are having their reputation trashed on a daily basis by one cheap Sussex PR stunt after another.

I'm not sure how the 'RF' are responsible for two middle aged adults acting like clowns? And their reputation isn't being trashed, as the 'official' royals have done a good job at putting a great distance between themselves and the Sussex antics these past 7 years.

And, at the point where it all really kicked off - the OW interview, folks all over the world were believing the nasty racist RF narrative. What looks like underreaction then by the RF then now looks like the right play, as HAM have gone on to reveal the crazy.

Yes, the RF retained their dignity, through all the malicious accusations, all the terrible lies. No tit for tat. HaM have just revealed themselves to be greedy, duplicitous, arrogant, entitled and mendacious.
Job done.

BREAKING: In response to Princess Diana's brother Earl Spencer claiming King Charles said "we'll forget her soon enough" following her tragic death in 1997, a Palace spokesman said:

‘While we do not comment on books as a matter of principle, His Majesty is mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and colour memory in ways others do not recognise, even many years after such a loss”

Excellent 👌🏼. Beautifully put. Kind and sympathetic, but CS isn't telling the truth.

Gotta love the poise and restraint of a Royal statement. So much unsaid but the meaning so clear. One if the things unsaid is 'F*ck off, you lowly aristo,'

Except that the RF don't tend to respond to allegations like this, IdaGlossop, and I'm not sure that joining in the clapping back and suggesting Spencer's reason is "clouded" is wise

Apparently the Mail's serialising the thing, so is there going to be a new response with each fresh revelation? Because if so I guess they'd better hope Spencer can't prove what he's claiming

PrivateCitizenTooDimforDiplomacy · 16/09/2026 19:33

A bit speechless. Just Wow.

re pp mentioning the RF website someone on X claims it has been updated and whilst H&M are still there, they aren’t exactly being showered with compliments. I did have a quick look and the first statement about them is to the effect they stepped back in 2020 and remain non-working royals.

Can’t say I had looked at it before so not able to comment on changes.

And Charles Spencer could be showing us which side he feels most at home with. Idiot.

I’m inclined to agree @Puzzledandpissedoff

Also, they got this out pretty fast unless the DM had sent them advance notice. Beginning to wonder where those stolen four copies of the book ended up.
Dearie me. Dark arts indeed.

diddl · 16/09/2026 19:47

I think in the case of Charles v Charles (as with many things), without hard evidence people will believe what they want to no matter the cleverness of the comeback.

Recollections may vary, in fact.

I was surprised about Cat Jarman too. She has a reputation of her own as an academic and author; presumably she's not in it because she wants to be a countess. And with his track record, why would you?

Under the ancient régime, they didn't respond, but Charles is more open than mummy and has at least one new senior adviser in Theo Ryecroft. Most pertinent in this case though is the attack on two flanks. Last week, the Lord Chamberlain's note was issued swiftly and the HAM fiasco has continued. There must be fear of the king being seen to be weak in the face of such a deeply personal attack at the same time as his younger son and daughter-in-law letting it be known they will do just as they please. Therefore, on balance, there has been a response, drafted so that there can be no doubting that the sentiments are the King's own.

KatherineParr · 16/09/2026 19:52

I have never met Cat Jarman but why wouldn't she want to be a countess? And I can see the attraction of being a custodian of Althorp and all the history there. He's also not short of money.

Looks like C3 is definitely of the opinion revenge is a dish best served cold.

DM is serialising the book from tomorrow.

I wonder if there will be Palace clapback at any further allegations 🍿

ETA Puzzled beat me to it 😁

I’m not entirely comfortable with this to be honest, the threads have not opened up , they have always been open, and the people discussing the blinds are not new posters, new posters are always welcome and obviously they may well not have followed the back story like older posters , so they are coming forth with what they have read …if you doubt the sources it’s better to explain why in a kind manner rather than assume any bad intent .

I like the blinds especially the posts with the full text.

Saves lazy arses like me the effort of hunting 'em out 🙂

Am I allowed to say spider willies and penis beaker on this thread? I name change all the time so that no one can build a psychological profile of me. If anyone wants to follow grandpaspy (Grandpa Spy) on instagram you’ll learn all sorts of things about keeping a low profile and blending in.

jeffgoldblum · 16/09/2026 20:17

I seem to have missed the Spencer book thingy!! , I’m sorry call me naive but I don’t believe a man like Charles who is constantly derided for being too sentimental and weak would say such a thing about Diana!! , he was visibly upset and grieving her death and against protocol went to collect her body personally from Paris!! , I don’t believe it at all!

The book is being discussed on this thread in case people are interested

Earl Spencer's stolen book

Re the King's response, my comment there was that he and William have probably talked for some time about whether and in what way to respond. This is not worded as a knee-jerk reaction.

I also suspect it's worded in such a way that it will be the only reaction.

There is definitely something murky with H&M and the Yorks.

The friendship with Eugenie which continued when others had recoiled post Oprah etc, Fergie teaching M to curtsey, meeting the Queen at Royal Lodge, and most weirdly H refuting the rumour that he had once punched AMW when they are happy to slag the rest of family and in fact letting it stand that he had punched the perv would have been the best bit of PR ever.

But would Eugenie or Sarah be super friendly if they suspected Meghan and Andrew had had a rendezvous ? 🤷‍♀️
