Whole picture is weird. Them snogging in a vineyard with their son mooching around? The perspective seems weird too. Archie is tiny but surely he's not that far away?

Watching his parents snogging for the camera ! , I’m sure the poor child wishes he was far away!

The lack of a cycling helmet and the bouncing around on a quad bike are bad enough but it was the lack of life jackets on water that really hit me.
Sailing has always been our family hobby and the DCs were doing it from 5-ish upwards.
You don't go on the pontoon without a life jacket, let alone on a boat. It's foolish beyond measure to mess about like that.
Sure, no helmets, no life jackets all make for a better picture...

Ah. A boat person.

I am a fisher, not a boater, and I mentioned the life jackets upthread, I just can't place the boat type however. I have never seen that type of boat used in the UK for fishing. I mean with the filled in hull, with the platform on top. Angling boats in the UK are open hulled. You sit in it, not on it. To me though, it looks like a US style bass fishing boat. They do have a filled in hull like that.

Or am I totally wrong, and it is a sail boat with the mast removed ?

It also has no rowlocks, which I thought odd for a UK angling boat.

Most parents don't do that for that very reason!

Very true …however most parents would not do most of the things ham do ! 🤷‍♀️

i wonder if they are expecting their hoped-for publically funded security to take the kids to school for them?

Perhaps the taxpayer could fund a school for them alone.

If fact. Looking at the boat in that photo. It might not be British. It looks more like an American style bass boat. They have filled in hulls to create a platform. UK fishing boats have open hulls. That might be why the photo looks strange to me.

But the Fishing rod I can see is UK style, not US.

It's a confusing photo.

There is also no rowlocks for oars. I am leaning towards it being the USA.

No idea about boats but the lake and bridge geometry (including some of the bridge structure) is a very good match for what's visible in images of at Rowler Manor (one of Ian Wace's properties) and the surrounding estate.

Also as a p p pointed out I think last night the construction of the drive where the deer are seen in one of the pictures is also a very good match for what's on the estate.

I reckon there's >90% those images were taken at Rowler, but of course whether that's where the HAMs are living or not...dunno.

IdaGlossop · Today 13:19

GroundCloves · Today 11:33

Whether they would wish to turn down HAM is a different matter, but if there are spaces they would seek to fill them regardless of the ease with which some parents can pay the bill.

Yes, of course they would fill available spaces when parents request them. My point is that in the case of H&M, decision-making would need to be broader than considerations of academic ability and revenue, because their chaotic behaviour would have a knock-on effect on all the families at the school.

How many cars were in the convoy?? Reporting is, one car in the convoy couldn't keep up with the rest of the convoy due to the traffic. This is absolutely absurd

Your knowledge is a definitely greater than mine! It's certainly no dinghy hull that I recognise.
My bet is it's just there for its picturesque qualities and is a bit cobbled together.
I just had this visceral reaction to seeing children on a boat with no protection as we've always been so strict about that.
Like Queen Mary and "Calais", I bet my DC have the Arthur Ransome quote "Better drowned than duffers. If not duffers, won't drown" engraved on their hearts 😊
Happy fishing!

They travel on country roads in a 'convoy' and complain about the traffic?

That's a bit like going to Santorini in July and complaining about how there are too many tourists! Only worse.

I'm still sceptical about the story. Of course they are dim and chaotic enough not to realise that a school run in Oxfordshire is going to be busy, but you can never take anything these two do or say at face value.

Starryfifty · Today 13:39

Chris Shit clutching at straws. Claiming H and hamlets are in LOS therefore need security. Wouldn't it make sense if KC removed all 3 from LOS and remove all titles? Therefore risk is minimum

There really are few Harry mis-steps which are biting harder than his mocking William’s hair loss, are there? William embracing it and looking hot AF, Harry looking increasingly tragic.

Omg!! I’ve just noticed Archie’s face isn’t blocked out! Basic technology can enhance and clarify that photo. WHAT are these two doing?? Lilibet’s fave had a heart over it in one of the other photos; is Archie not as deserving? Did she just not see him in the background?

MaturingCheeseball · Today 13:41

That vineyard picture is creepy; Archie lurking in the vines, the black and white - it’s like some horror film.

I was wondering, does ravec set conditions on the security awarded? Because all things being equal target-wise, obviously someone living a quiet, private life is going to require less extensive and expensive protection than someone (and their wife…) flitting around making public appearances, doing tours and posting their daily activities and whereabouts on Instagram.

Dameputtingonabraveface · Today 13:42

So as someone who mainly lurks on these very entertaining threads, I popped off for a quick private citizen's tour of Italy and Greece just after the HAMs announced their return to the salty Island. They have really excelled themselves in trying to hang on to any relevance in the couple of weeks they have decided to be back in the UK. Unfortunately for them, they seem to remain relevant in the way Katie Price still desperately hangs onto fame.

Honestly, the only reason they remain tabloid and press fodder (and threads like this exist) is because they insist on not doing anything quietly or privately. None of us would care really if they just got on with their lives rather than creating drama and making everything public. Their sense of entitlement and lack of any self-awareness is astounding. They keep us entertained but for all the wrong reasons. They must be absolutely deluded because I cannot believe they have a huge group of supportive people around them telling them they are justified in their ongoing vendettas and victim narrative. It is very hard to look away from this car crash (and they are very much in the driving seat).

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but lots of us would take our kids in a tiny boat on a pond without life jackets. Not on a lake, but this looks like a shallow pond. It would have largely dried up during the summer.
Obviously, proper sailing or fishing on lakes, everyone wears a lifejacket, but it's really not true that HaM are being extraordinarily negligent here. I think a large percentage of parents would be similarly negligent in this case. (Parents who can swim and whose kids can swim).
I appreciate if you are sailing types you are probably a lot stricter.

I'll go through it one more time.

This Prince is small. That Prince is far away

DancingFerret · Today 13:44

Just musing.

The longer this Sussex family return farce continues, the more I wonder if it's not just Harry who's here while Markle keeps the dream alive from across the pond.

Also (and I appreciate I'm over-thinking here) was KC's cold and strongly-worded missive, effectively cutting them off at the pass in terms of their pseudo-royal engagements, aimed solely at Markle in recognition of the obvious way she influences and controls Harry's every word and thought?

It's just all very odd, not least taking the hamlets out of school after only two days.

They need us to know what Archie looks like or how would their stalkers know which car to follow? As PPs pointed out, if they just drive the kids to school in a Honda Civic, no one would notice them. We don't know what the kids look like (presumably fairly normal ginger kids...) and no one is checking the occupants of cars in Oxford rush hour traffic - other than to call them "bloody idiots" and glaring at them.
