Is there any more to be said. I expect there probably is. So I started a new thread. Be interesting to see what their next move is. It's like a game of chess A we getting clarification. I want to know if they'll be doing walkabouts, hospital visits, and so on. Being greeted by dignitaries at home and overseas like they were on their visit to NY and Australia.

I cant see where race has been mentioned or even alluded to. A lot of people find Meghan increasingly hard to like but that has everything to do with her behaviour and manner. No doubt for some elsewhere it's her heritage because there are always idiots but I'm not seeing it here otherwise how do you explain the similar feeling towards Harry? They both do plenty to make themselves unpopular.

Yes, I think that's basically the issue.

IdaGlossop · 09/09/2026 15:44

@namechangeduetoimpatience has set the same trap for herself as a former line report of mine who spent a lot of time telling me that her unsuccessful attempts at promotion were because she was black. They weren't. They were because she lobbied senior colleagues and circumvented the application process in multiple ways.

You missing the undertones doesn’t make them disappear. And volunteering yourself as proof that they weren’t there is exactly the kind of cover bad faith comments thrive on. I said what I said.

So tell me where they are.

Because they look invisible to me.

See also anything vile or frothy.

As for volunteering myself?

Catch on to yourself.

I can’t help what I am. You can and keep your nasty comments to yourself.

Whosthetabbynow · 09/09/2026 16:07

It would appear he’s lost his usefulness for her. She’ll do what she’s always done when people can no longer further her questionable ambitions; bin him off. She wanted to marry a prince not a private citizen. Watch this space but I’d say there will be an announcement of the divorce before too long.

damnatiomemoriae · 09/09/2026 16:14

I would hope not Tabby.

As time goes on they are showing more and more how suited they actually are.

That’s actually true! As I say, we can only watch this space x

But it's akin to a teacher having to reiterate a warning or instruction - we might find nothing new in this declaration, but clearly H & M needed it repeating. They've been flouting the agreement in the US and BP maintained a dignified silence, but since they're back in the UK they need to be told!

And now it's there for everyone to read, not just H & M after the Sandringham Summit.

It was far stronger than the original statement, was the original statement sent out to a hundred stakeholders I wonder.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 09/09/2026 16:31

IdaGlossop · 09/09/2026 14:43

My posts upthread argue for @Notsosweetcaroline's view. The statement issued by the Lord Chamberlain does a great deal more than reiterate the terms of the Sandringham agreement. It puts Harry and Meghan back in their place, asserts the power of the crown, and invites charities and governments to refer to Buckingham Palace in cases of doubt, including over the spending of public funds.

Exactly, there is no comparison to the original statement, if it was just a reminder they would have referred stakeholders who were querying their position to that very statement but they didn’t, it’s a huge slap down and has put them very firmly in their place no matter how many people say there is nothing to see here.

Viviennemary · 09/09/2026 18:40

What will be next from them I wonder. King Charles is reportedly not getting involved in a war of words. He's learning.

It’s the old “Never wrestle with a pig; you’ll get covered in shit and the pig enjoys it!”

Always sound advice.

My first thoughts on H&M return was money, security, a royal home and to ease themselves back into the position they had BEFORE, AND before William becomes King which would make William’s life more difficult to do what is needed, GET RID OF THEIR TITLES They dangled the children in front of the King knowing he has a kind heart which was a disgusting move on their behalf but now the King’s letter has reminded H&M of their status. Well done Your Majesty over 95% of the country are behind you, long may you reign.

The Sentebale case is in the pipeline. Probably others will follow Uganda and withdraw from Invictus. RAVEC will rule on protection. Monday's communication will discourage charities from working with them. Doors are closing.

Except Richard Branson has opened a Virgin door to H. But is it open wide enough for Meghan to squeeze through too?

My first thought was to promote their children. With upper class accents and ability to connect with folk in the posh upper class circles. And preferably people with money for private jets.

I still think that something has the possibility of being brought into the light.

I don’t know what it is but they were at great pains to say how happy they were in Montecito so something is afoot.

It could be finances. Things could be tight. But they do have considerable means. Downsizing/having a more modest lifestyle may not suit but many others have trod that path before them.

As for surrounding their kids with the elite? That is a possibility.

I hate to say it because children should never be judged for the actions of their parents. The sad truth is that they likely will be. No-one who values their privacy will be letting them anywhere near if it means the parents may be hovering.

The children are likely to be a curiosity to some. I hope they have better judgement than their parents and surround themselves with people who have their best interests at heart.

As so often with the Sussexes, the story of their return doesn't quite add up. It would have taken weeks if not months to arrange a school. It's hard not to think that the house they have been lent must have taken time too. Yet they said nothing to pa in July, despite saying spending time with him is one if the reasons for wanting to be in the UK.

Given their six-year long obsession with 'securidy', I'm struggling with the idea that they didn't take steps to ensure a new risk assessment was carried out based on them living in the UK, before they came back. Then there's the report that they gave only two weeks notice of their return to the Home Office instead of the required month.

Obfuscation is the Sussex way but I agree with @damnatiomemoriae that there's something we don't know that explains their quick flight from the USA - tax, visa, litigation, divorce settlement rules, a scandal about to emerge.

Absolutely, they have chosen to have their children styled as prince and princess for a reason. Also naming the girl Lilibet Diana. That's not aiming for a life without publicity.

I think those are good points. The Sussexes want a life in the public eye, a royal life. That's fine, that's their choice, but I do hope that the children are given a chance for a private life, outside of their parents' Instagram.

Cast me down in flames for being a name snob, but I would expect Princess Lilibet to be a child of Katie Price. I like Lilibet as a nickname very much but the prefixing of 'princess' gives it a different vibe.

😂😂 I do think that you should give a child a name which isn't too much of a particular identification. I know why they called her Lilibet, we know it was the pet name of the late Queen.
Why not Eliza, or Beth or even Lily?

Me too. I think it would be a shame if they were thrust into the spotlight.

They've had quite the disruption already.

Supersimkin7 · 10/09/2026 14:40

Princess Lil-let, named for her grandfather and his wife?

damnatiomemoriae · 10/09/2026 14:43

I didn’t agree with the name for other reasons but I think it a shame that she has been saddled with that controversial name while her brother has been given a name that could blend in more easily.

I wish they’d just called her Lili. They said they were going to call her that anyway - so the given name was never about her. Just the fuss.

I agree particularly as they will be compared to the Wales DC which is unfair on both families .
G, C and L will have a public role so are being eased in but there is no need for A and L .

YourWinter · 10/09/2026 14:46

I don’t think the Sussex children’s school has been disclosed but as there is a prep school in the Cotswolds called Hatherop Castle, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see photos of the back of the children’s heads against a sunlit backdrop of “their castle”.

MM would surely have Instagrammed them settling in at Windsor Castle, but instead had to settle for a “Cottage” on the estate!
