Is there any more to be said. I expect there probably is. So I started a new thread. Be interesting to see what their next move is. It's like a game of chess A we getting clarification. I want to know if they'll be doing walkabouts, hospital visits, and so on. Being greeted by dignitaries at home and overseas like they were on their visit to NY and Australia.

As much as they may split I really don’t think this is what this is about.

Invictus is great, or it was.

But you must be aware that its future is threatened by funding shortfalls, controversies and maybe even scandals.

The speed of their return is curious. There are many possibilities - visa issues, a tax advantage in living outside the USA, concerns about Trump and his dislike for meghan in particular, resident in the UK requirements for the children.

I think you'll find that Harry gets a ton of criticism on here as well as Meghan. In fact, over the last few days, I've seen a lot of posts tending to blame him for the mess more than her.

It's obvious to most people, so shouldn't need clarification.
However to H & M it obviously is a complicated narrative or they wouldn't have complained they should have had it sooner.

Uganda, which signed up in July this year, has just dropped out, the head of the defence staff and son of the president citing 'Harry and Meghan nonsense'. He also avowed loyalty to KCIII, which suggests the communication earlier this week is behind it. It's unlikely that other Commonwealth countries will follow suit(s).

It's intriging.

We've had one or two of the predictable, time-travelling posts asking 'why do we care?' and 'are you still talking about them?' haven't we, but it's obvious to most people that there've been not one, but 2 sensational events in the last week. The utterly surprising return of a couple who left, rubbishing the UK, its RF and its press etc, and now the King has come out an publicly slapped their wrists too!

I make no apology for being fascinated by these developments and I'm mystified as to what's really going on!

I wont mention the racial undertones in half of these comments but God helps us.

yes, and Harry and Megan’s spokesperson said some points need clarifying, I can’t imagine what they are, and it is just a restatement of what they agreed and wished for, but for Harry and Megan apparently they no longer wish to be private citizens, but public figures and some points did need clarifying.

Please point out the racial undertones.

As a woman wrapped in fabulous brown skin I missed it.

HAM's expectation that they could have editing rights over a communication directly from the monarch shows how deluded they are. The announcement reiterates the agreement made at the Sandringham summit, and adds points that place them outside the sphere of royal duties and public funding for anything they do. It's the second that they would have wanted to comment on because they want to be public figures.

Harry is too dim not to have understood that two mortals cannot triumph over a 1,000 year-old institution. Meghan has insufficient understanding of how things are done in the UK to pull the required strings to influence it. Both of them are too self-obsessed and immature to behave in ways which would invite co-operation.

When they left the UK for Canada, their announcement about carving out a progressive new role in the Royal family was written by them, with no output from the Royal Household, and they gave the Queen 20 minutes notice that it was going yo be issued.

Quite the leap - royal-adjacent tittle-tattle on a web forum to the dissing of a nation. Your diagnosis of 'the problem with this country' is quite different to our new PM. He blames 40 years of neo-liberalism.

And I think all the nasty accusations against pps here are unjustified. No-one's wishing for them to divorce - please quote the thread where someone wishes divorce on them. i certainly don't - although I admit my concern in all of their shenanigans is for their young children and not for the self-sabotaging pair, HaM.

My posts upthread argue for @Notsosweetcaroline's view. The statement issued by the Lord Chamberlain does a great deal more than reiterate the terms of the Sandringham agreement. It puts Harry and Meghan back in their place, asserts the power of the crown, and invites charities and governments to refer to Buckingham Palace in cases of doubt, including over the spending of public funds.

You missing the undertones doesn’t make them disappear. And volunteering yourself as proof that they weren’t there is exactly the kind of cover bad faith comments thrive on. I said what I said.

It was masterful.

And for anyone thinking it was brutal - it will have prevented a lot of potential disasters and misunderstandings. H & M might not like it but it needed to be said, before charities and other organisations found themselves in an embarrassing position.

Some of H's charities are indeed now feeling the effect of the HAM's messy involvement and it's not nice.

The Sentebale case is in the pipeline. Probably others will follow Uganda and withdraw from Invictus. RAVEC will rule on protection. Monday's communication will discourage charities from working with them. Doors are closing.

I cant see where race has been mentioned or even alluded to. A lot of people find Meghan increasingly hard to like but that has everything to do with her behaviour and manner. No doubt for some elsewhere it's her heritage because there are always idiots but I'm not seeing it here otherwise how do you explain the similar feeling towards Harry? They both do plenty to make themselves unpopular.
