Is there any more to be said. I expect there probably is. So I started a new thread. Be interesting to see what their next move is. It's like a game of chess A we getting clarification. I want to know if they'll be doing walkabouts, hospital visits, and so on. Being greeted by dignitaries at home and overseas like they were on their visit to NY and Australia.

Here's a rewrite: Harry and Meghan tend to step out of line and behave as if they are representing the monarchy, which, having stepped down as working royals, they never are. In his communication, the king has included an open invitation to charities and other organisations to contact Buckingham Palace if they want to check anything procedurally in connection with Harry and Meghan. He has cleverly made it much more difficult for them to step out of line.

Praise be. That’s how I read your first post.

My eyes are not broken after all. 🙏🏽

This is a fiction. Behaving like royalty? You mean doing charity work. Anyone can do this.

Are you always this obtuse? Anyone can do this and does do this, but they don’t claim their (quite considerable, in H & M’s case) “expenses” from the public purse.

Neither do harry and Meghan. Only working royals get public expenses for charity work.
Please don't call me names. I haven't been rude to you.

Not enough tickets sold is probably the real reason.

Whatever the reason, it does put any potential ideas by the Sussexes to use Diana as some sort of way to gain income on shaky ground. Either people don’t want the Sussexes to be associated with her, or there is no longer sufficient interest in Diana if too few tickets were sold

H&M work only for money, the Royal Family don’t.l

I think they’ve been very clear in what they mean.

Seeing as how we are all interpreting it differently and some are seeing things that aren’t there at all, I’ll join in.

H&M aren’t acting like royals because they are always seemingly there to promote themselves not the charity.

They have confused themselves with megastars and have gone well above requesting just orange smarties in a pot.

They appear to need a tragedy to get their juices flowing. Or a gravestone.

They are not relatable.

H can’t keep his mouth shut or be discreet and would therefore be a liability. Or cause an international incident.

M can’t keep her mouth shut about dish soap.

And no one wants a manky hug.

And for their ‘profile’. It seems very important to Meghan to have some kind of status that elevates her above ‘ordinary’ people. I get the impression she’s always been that way and has been quite ruthless at making use of people on her way up while dumping those who aren’t useful any more.

To your excellent list, may I add:

they are unpredictable
they are chaotic
they do not tell the truth
their behaviour is not always appropriate eg Meghan's 'embracing' of the Columbian president's husband
Meghan often dresses inappropriately eg a white shorts jumpsuit to march in front of veterans

We don't know what expenses Harry and Meghan intend to claim. But BP probably have an idea. Hospitals are publicly funded bodies so seems like they shouldn't be claimnig expenses from them.

@OneLilacHedgehog could you point us in the direction of the thread you saw the claim that no-one but the royals have the time to give to charity please?

IdaGlossop · 11/09/2026 12:45

They haven't given up pushing the line again today that they are too high profile to be private citizens ignoring the fact that 'private citizen' is a status ie not Royal . It's not a description ie stay inside so no-one can see you as a person legally entitled to be in the UK.

Meanwhile, Harry's September engagements have been published by his team, seeing as the Court Circular is not available to him. The level of detail is surprising, given his security concerns. No dates or venues, but the dates are easy to find and the location eg London, New York. Meghan has also had briefing put out, confirming her intention to work with charities. It all feels very defiant, like sticking two fingers up to Monday's communication.

People are already fed up with them after three weeks. How long will they be able to sustain what certainly looks like an attempt to create a parallel Royal family?

BigWillyLittleTodger · 11/09/2026 12:46

OneLilacHedgehog · 11/09/2026 09:26

I have seen posters argue no one but royals have the time to give to charities.
Harry and Meghan are doing exactly what some rich people in the UK already do. It's no different.

I have never seen this but clearly you have and you must have seen it from several posters as you have used the plural, please can you link as I would be very interested to read those posts, are these claims from long standing posters?

Comicalblackcat · 11/09/2026 13:25

Obtuse is a simple description of a behavior.
It’s not a name, and is not rude to describe behavior.

I really despair. It seems some would create so many linguistic rules here that conversation could never be honest nor clear.

Indeed they can . I am either Royal nor hugely wealthy but have just finished a shift at the local Foodbank .
As it seems to be the done thing I would like to announce that I am helping in a charity shop tomorrow.
No more information as i don’t want papped .

Be sure to arrange a press release of your public engagements for next month.

I think sometimes it's intentional, there is little interest in being honest or clear. I don't know, attention seeking maybe 🤷‍♀️

It does feel intended to prevent discussion.

Comicalblackcat · 11/09/2026 13:59

Viviennemary, I also do charity work, and enjoy it, but we don’t put out press releases, make demands or charge, we do it quietly and happy to help where we can. 🤗

When you enter the charity shop you should insist they announce you.

I tried to find out but as you say different reasons given. Apparently Lady Colin Campbell said it was because not enough tickets sold. (That's a bit of a boring reason.) Someone else said it's because Meghan wanted to take centre stage and give a speech or Harry would pull out if she couldn't so whole thing was cancelled. That's more like it imho. Anyway who knows.

I read that M was intending to turn up. W got wind of her scouting designers for a spectacular dress, and caused the event to be cancelled because he didn't want Megan utilising a charity event in memory of his mum to relaunch herself socially and PR-wise in the UK

Especially as KC had seats reserved at his Coronation for ordinary people who work for different charities in the UK, who he praised in his Christmas speech.
Also, KC, William and Anne regularly do investitures (including of charity workers) and speak to people who work with and lead charities of various types.

Edited

And Diana had a train of charity workers walking behind her coffin. I think someone dropped a magic mushroom in the bird bath, and the pigeons have lost it a bit.
