King Charles orders Harry and Meghan to be treated like ordinary citizens

Apparently an order has gone out from King Charles saying that Harry and Meghan are to be treated like ordinary citizens as they are not working members of the royal family. That's according to the DM so it must be right. The thought of those two being pleased at being ordinary is too much.

I wonder just how low they will keep their profile and if it's to do with them wishing to be involved in charities. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to set up their own mock royal court.

Did he, Christ, then yes they are trying to br working royals . It’s utterly tragic.

they were working royals. They took a knife to it. Said they’d never return to the uk, and now here they are trying to pretend to be working royals to rebuild their brand and reputation , as it’s all they can sell. Still trying to make money off of it.

...and trying to get taxpayer funded security 🙄

Any specific questions from official and State organisations about the courtesies which should be extended to the Duke and Duchess, and particularly where recourse to public funds may be required, should be directed to Buckingham Palace.

This bit is interesting - I wonder which official and state organizations they are referring to.

I found that bit intriguing too. I wonder if it was requested by the PM so that he could refer his ministers to it whenever H tried to exert pressure.

Yes, it’s interesting how many posters are saying things along these lines. Have they not wondered, though, why the Palace would feel it necessary to issue this “clarification”? It couldn’t be because the Sussexes have been sailing close to the wind in terms how they interpreted the Sandringham agreement since they left the UK? Or that they are perceived to be sailing even closer to it now that they are back? There have been so
many rumblings about wanting Met security and wanting to be working royals, none of which have been denied by the Sussexes and so much apparent leaking by them, that even the Palace, that bastion of grey rocking, felt the need to clarify the situation

This. ⬆️

I think they have served to muddy the terms of the Sandringham agreement and this is just being put out there to remind people.

And them.

It is crystal clear.

Sounds like they're trying to get public funding

How are they treated differently?

Well, other non working royals don't do faux royal tours like they do.

It needes clarifying for when they swan about.

Lifeomars · 07/09/2026 17:32

Most media outlets are calling it a letter but I guess the Mail will be calling it an order, surprised they've not said its a royal decree...

Lord, do you never tire of spewing this revolting bile.

😂😂

Spewing bile…oh dear. Mind you, it makes a change from vitriol.

They are already pretending to be working royals. Quote 'Prince Harry has announced his first public engagement.' A sky dive for a military charity. Do ordinary citizens have 'public engagements'. Not as far as I'm aware. Didn't take long.

@Viviennemary! Yes just seen the official statement and letter from the king ! It’s very much real and being reported in other outlets now too!

Yes, this is what I thought - just like the daily mail. They love to run down Harry and Meghan, even more so after the courts.

Hopefully if they are classed as 'ordinary citizens' they can start suing the daily mail for harassment.

Harry and Meghan aren't shy about slagging off the Royal Family with the world watching them.

I doubt they will do that - he already owes the DM millions

Yes he’s probably tried to use hrh and get public funding for some charity event he was going to do, possibly security related. They have said many enquiries so I suspect there is multiple diary events they are planning where they have attempted to cross the line.

The Mail. That famous paper of record.

It’s official! Royal statement from the current lord chamberlain.

Damnedidont · 07/09/2026 17:37

Guess that's put the mockers on their demand for security?

damnatiomemoriae · 07/09/2026 17:38

Whatever bile is being spewed it will never be on par with the varying recollections spewed bile.

KC has pretty much given them a beautifully classy version of ‘fuck around and find out’.

Here for it.

AlonsoMosley · 07/09/2026 17:38

It has certainly lit a fire under the rest of them - they are very busy all of a sudden! 😜

If the Crown is to be believed, they all compete for the front pages.

"The Crown" isn't to be believed. It's a fictional drama.
They have that disclaimer at the start.

Has Harry paid off the millions of pounds in costs from the last lawsuit he lost? Does not ANL own the Daily Mail?

Yes Harry and the others lost every single one of the 97 articles they sued for !

damnatiomemoriae · 07/09/2026 17:41

Merely zhuzhed for our entertainment I feel.
