King Charles orders Harry and Meghan to be treated like ordinary citizens

Apparently an order has gone out from King Charles saying that Harry and Meghan are to be treated like ordinary citizens as they are not working members of the royal family. That's according to the DM so it must be right. The thought of those two being pleased at being ordinary is too much.

I wonder just how low they will keep their profile and if it's to do with them wishing to be involved in charities. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to set up their own mock royal court.

This is ridiculous. It's an administrative clarification that they continue not to be working members of the royal family.

It's not some kind of gotcha to Harry and Meghan, it's been issued so that people stop asking the royal family about them

If so why did the letter need to be sent to Ham's team? It could just have been a normal press release with Hams acknowledgment. This was a move from the Palace to put Ham in their rightful position & remind their to not get notions above their station as ordinary citizens.

I hope Meghan has cancelled her orders for expensive clothes .

I wonder what happened to all that expensive designer gear Charles paid for when she was a working royal? Bespoke Givenchy, Dior, Stella McCartney etc
Some very, very expensive stuff.

Tedious? Predictable?

That is your opinion.

They are also right.

Love, an ilk.

Did he, Christ, then yes they are trying to br working royals . It’s utterly tragic.

they were working royals. They took a knife to it. Said they’d never return to the uk, and now here they are trying to pretend to be working royals to rebuild their brand and reputation , as it’s all they can sell. Still trying to make money off of it.

He didn’t. It is an engagement, a sky dive jump he’s doing for charity. Announced on the charity’s website. A Canadian charity at that. The papers ran what they wanted to ran. Some don’t call it a “public engagement “.

Maybe to reiterate what H&M wanted; to step away from being senior royals and get more privacy and the opportunity to make money.

Certainly not being harassed. According to some they seek them out for publicity and for their leaks.

When?

I’m still wondering just why have they returned? It was so sudden, and also followed an interview with Harry when he said he absolutely would not be bringing Meghan and the DCs to the UK. Yet here they are…

They need money.... They didn't have that much really for their lifestyle.

IcedPurple · 07/09/2026 17:47

Any specific questions from official and State organisations about the courtesies which should be extended to the Duke and Duchess, and particularly where recourse to public funds may be required, should be directed to Buckingham Palace. Any operational security issues should continue to be directed to the relevant Police authorities.

I think this is interesting. It's basically preempting, or maybe responding to, any attempts by H&M to set up some sort of 'rival court'. They might have got away with that in California, but not in the Cotswolds.

Charles is drawing a very clear line in the sand, and the Sussexes will not be best pleased.

Yes, he only recently claimed that he could never bring his wife and children here, because it wasn't safe.
What changed?

damnatiomemoriae · 07/09/2026 17:49

I don’t think it is about money. (Although that is a consideration).

I’m waiting for revelations.

See also Ma York returning.

Lord, do you never tire of spewing this revolting bile.

Can you explain how reporting an official statement from the king about the status of h and m …..is revolting bile ?

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 07/09/2026 17:49

@OlympicWomen it’s Meghan’s. Whatever she wants to do with it I guess. It doesn’t really belong to the crown but they do usually keep wedding dresses - for exhibitions.

Wedgewood · 07/09/2026 17:49

It's a start. Better than waking up from a bender to find you've been drinking jam. Take them off the royal website now.

MyDeftDuck · 07/09/2026 17:15

Oh well, if it’s in the DM then it must be correct 🤔……..the only thing completely true in any newspaper is the date and price printed on the front!

It’s an official statement from the king being reported in every single media outlet! , sorry it’s very much true!

@MargoLivebetter it was released first by People which we know Harry emails directly, because on a previous story People referenced a direct email from Harry

Sorry - didn't mean to quote that post!

'Working member' of the Royal Family.
None of them do any work in any meaningful sense anyway. Turning up to charities, reading a speech a flunky wrote for you, and driving off in a motorcade we paid for ain't work.

Just as well she can make jam then eh?

Nah.. it was a very pointed reminder that Ham better not get any ideas above their station. They are ordinary citizens now no better than the rest of us!

handsdownthebest · 07/09/2026 18:05

Typical dramatic Daily Fail reader.
There is no ‘ordered’. The letter is a reiteration of what was decided when they became non-working Royals and left the country. No change.

HollyhocksandPeons · 07/09/2026 18:05

I am amazed and in awe of the Royal Family in this respect - they happily welcomed a different race into the fold, bestowed titles on the newcomer and her children and received a tonne of ungrateful shite in return. To be accused of racism when you allow your royal son to marry a different race and celebrate it for the world to see? And not demand a public apology after a public accusation? Seriously?
