There must be so many unresolved issues in this family. Harry is clearly not Charles’. They just need to work that one out with some honesty and empathy. It probably has something to do with why he was treated less respectfully etc etc. I find the whole thing quite boring but he really does look like his real dad. Much hotter than William.

Starryfifty · 28/08/2026 12:58

There is no way KC did not know. It makes no sense. If this is project thaw, he is extremely foolish

If that were the case the HaMs would have been told to stfu or risk being publicly declared not IT'S

As for "hot", are you hallucinating?

If KC isn’t H’s real Dad then problem solved. H would not be in the LoS, he would not a prince, the Dukedom could be removed etc.

For anyone who watches Palace Confidential on YouTube, Rebecca English on today's episode is very clear that the BP press office people have told her that the King definitely did not know that the Sussexes were coming back until Sunday.
It's about 7 minutes in

The first 5 minutes or so are good in describing how the Sussex briefings have gone over the past week.

I haven't watched the rest of the episode yet, but thought people might be interested in those bits.

That Palace Confidential podcast is hilarious!

It’s so skewed in favour of C&C , and W and C, and so against H and M, that I don’t know why it’s not broadcast directly by the MIGS from a sitting room in Buckingham Palace! It would save everyone a lot of bother! 😀

Just my opinion but not sure that Rebecca English can be trusted to be objective since the latest ANL court case. She was quite venomous about Harry in a past podcast.

Also in this video she says she feels personally angry on behalf of William when people suggest that he and Harry should reconcile and that she wasn’t speaking as a royal journalist when she said that but just an ordinary person!

If she is not speaking as a journalist then what is she doing there? Ridiculous!

So many of these so-called commentators are earning a good living from being pro-monarchy and anti - H&M and they aren’t going to bite the hand that feeds them, But here they are pretending to themselves and others that they are being objective.

Again, ridiculous that anyone takes it all at face value.

One of the slightly more straightforward and less obsequious commentators who had previously worked for the late QE2 as a press officer said she personally never lied to a journalist during her entire career and that her personal integrity was at stake in such a job, and that if a journalist asked a question she didn’t want to answer, she just said nothing and that no more information was forthcoming. That’s all very well but she neglected to mention any leaks and briefings from the BP that are unofficial. And don’t tell me that “off the record” briefings don’t take place.

Also Lownie said in a recent interview not to be so quick to believe the briefing from the BP that KC3 didn’t know about H & M’s return and we know his sources are good.

Finally the PC team accused H&M’s briefings to the press of being “inconsistent” and “all over the place” without airing the possibility that this is a deliberate and understandable strategy by H&M given the onslaught of negative rubbish they have to read about themselves every day anyway. and also, briefing different stories about their arrival may help to keep them safe. Not a mention of that possibility of course.

Not really, because Parliament is Sovereign.
They can decide on the next monarch, just as they decided to get rid of Edward VIII.
It's only Absolute Monarchs where that is the case, ours is Constitutional.
Parliament can amend by law as it sees fit..
To add: there would be a parliamentary intervention in the unlikely event of either Andrew or Harry getting anywhere near the throne.

Edited

Yes, but Edward VIII was a huge deal and the future of the monarchy was at genuine risk at the time. It's often said that people nowadays don't realise just how precarious it was, because QE2 was mostly a success for such a long time, so we all forgot and forgave.
If the government banned Andrew or Harry from becoming king, as they rightly would, quite a lot of us would be questioning exactly why we bothered with a hereditary monarchy at all.
I'm neither monarchist or republican, there are arguments for/against both, but I think chopping and changing it leaves it very open to criticism. (It's always open to criticism, but even more so.)

so photos of the 3 cars, photos of the jet landing, but not a single grainey photo of them exiting the plane, which I think proves the jet and car photos were released by them.

Photos of them exiting the plane would have included the children, which the press would not print.
Hence the information in the DM article that the children were sitting in the seats behind H&M.

The Sussexes briefed the press on the time and location of the flight.

No.
Parliament decides who the next monarch is. Who announced King Charles? The Prime Minister.
Yes, Edward was a "big deal". So are Andrew and Harry.
I'm just telling you about the constitutional legalities.
Argue with your MP if you want that changed, but something tells me parliament will not go back to Royal inheritance being immutable.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 28/08/2026 12:50

If you want to pick and choose who is in the LoS, then let's pick and choose properly and have a nice President like Germany or Estonia has

Yes please to that from this republican Smile

You were right of course about picking and choosing not being something that can be done within a hereditary monarchy, or at least that's the theory
However if there was the least chance of Harry or Andrew becoming "it" and endangering the whole thing, they'd find a way to pick and choose soon enough, just as they did with the very name of the family

We've picked and chosen since Oliver Cromwell.

Thank you. I'm not sure what part of "Constitutional Monarchy with Parliament as Sovereign" people don't understand!

BigWillyLittleTodger · 28/08/2026 13:27

briefing different stories about their arrival may help to keep them safe.

Saying nothing is what would “keep them safe” creating a media frenzy by briefing different things to different journalists is the exact opposite of that, though I expect that’s exactly what they intended. No expert on security would ever advise their clients to contact various members of the media and plant stories to divert attention, it didn’t exactly pan out well for Diana when they did that on that fateful night did it.

Re "picking and choosing" - I don't really see why, in this day and age, it has to be the oldest child (though no longer son) that automatically gets the throne. There's nothing special about the oldest that makes them best suited of all the monarch's children to be king or queen.

We've been lucky in the current and previous generations of the monarch that the oldest child has been more sensible than the next in line, although that wasn't the case with TLQ's Uncle Edward (thankfully, he abdicated). And there might be some cause and effect in that the eldest is the most sensible precisely because s/he has been brought up to be a sensible monarch.

But in reality, if Charlotte or Louise seemed to be better candidates for monarch than George, why should it automatically go to George.

It doesn't have to be, it's custom and practice.

They could both have extremely private lives if they wanted to, none of this ridiculous circus is necessary, they thrive on the drama and attention.

Lol, no I don't. I thing he has a wealth of around a few tens of millions that is enough to fund his needs and those of his family.

Harry is the spitting image of the young Prince Philip, and also resembles Charles in some photos. He's obviously Charles' son!

SaltyTea · 28/08/2026 13:33

I wonder if Raven want to keep it as a mixture of public and private security as they have seen this working in the past, it will be less strain on public finances, and they will impose some control over the Sussexes' public engagements.

Why not go the whole hog and pick the grandson of the Highgrove gardener who is a great deal better looking and intelligent than Charles, William and Harry combined?

I assumed Spare would have had a libel reading by Penguin Rabdom House. Did that not happen?

According to Alexandra Pringle, ex ed-in-chief Bloombury publishing, (who was on Radio 4 the other day talking about the Jason Arday book) there is a distinction between memoir and autobiography: an autobiography is supposed to be strictly factual, a memoir is not.

"A memoir is a work of literature that is verging on fiction and you can't necessarily expect it to be a factual day-by-day or yearly account of somebody's life."

According to wiki Spare was a memoir, so perhaps that's how H got away with so much fiction in it.

Seems post-rationalisation to me, but it beats fact-checking!
