I agree with you. They have blacked out windows on a 3 vehicle cavalcade and think it’s how to arrive at their destination incognito?

How I wish we still had the laugh emoji.

Edited

I don't think they did think it meant they'd be incognito....the whole arrival process was performative and I think Tom Sykes could be right when he said it was a middlefinger to the RF.

The HAMS may have needed to arrive bizjet instead of commercial for logistical and financial reasons but as a poster pointed out a couple of days back there was never any need for them to announce the where, when and how they arrived, especially so soon after they touched down.

That announcement left a nice trail of breadcrumbs for the press to follow and some plane spotters at Brum probably realised their images were worth something.

If OTOH the HAMs had arrived commercial at LHR (and TBF there might have been genuine reasons why that wasn't possible) and used the VVIP facilities in place there would have been no bizjet and the convoy wouldn't have stood out...if the bizjet really was essential going into Farnborough (a business jet hub) would have allowed them and the convoy to keep a lower profile than going into Brum...

Being discrete wasn't in the plan....looks like another example of the "world wide no publicity tour" again......

MrsLeonFarrell · 28/08/2026 06:37

I would speculate that the breadcrumbs and the private jet, the convoy and the press statement telling the press not to do something they weren't going to do anyway, all of it is provocation. I'm not sure they are aiming it at the Royal family. I think they are trying to get someone, anyone to leak where they live and where the children go to school in the hopes it will mean that RAVEC will finally pay for security.

Of course it's illogical to increase your own risk but Harry has never been logical about security. I hope no one takes the bait.

AutumnCrowFlewOverTheCotswoldsNest · 28/08/2026 06:44

At some point very soon a few hundred school staff, children and parents are going to know what school the kids are at! I really don’t think RAVEC can possibly regard knowledge of the school arising from ordinary chitchat as an out of the norm security risk.

It’ll be similar with the house. It’ll be known, but no one will care. Again, RAVEC surely can’t regard that as out of the norm?

Of course not. There are parents who know where are the Royal/VIP kids go, including sports and interest groups. That's life.

BunnyBunbunbun · 27/08/2026 23:13

Even you give as a "low" estimate that Harry could have been worth £30 million - which is not a small sum of money and enough to do all those things! I suspect he has people looking after his money who can get more than 7% a year in the most tax efficient way, and the market has been making nearer 20% and more in the past few years. He also has about half of Diana's jewellery collection as well as the valuables he received from the Queen Mum, which he can use, e.g. as collateral for a mortgage. Add in what they get from his and Meg's assorted activities, and of course they can pay for the kids' schools, the house in the US, a house in the UK, etc. with no need to ask dad for anything.

W&H probably had money invested for them when they were children. Martin Lewis advises parents to do this.

Recklessismymiddlename · 28/08/2026 07:14

Maybe RAVEC will say sorry we can’t keep you safe in the uk, we advise you to move back to USA and we have sorted out your visa issue. Or keep a low profile and you’ll be fine. Ie do the opposite of what you are currently doing.

Interesting point you make as I have often thought that they have used their PR not for general public exposure but to get messages to KC3 and the MiGs. Just ridiculous the absolute circus and huge visual spectacle they have created on their return. What a pair of clowns. As PP has said very performative. Very Trumpian IMHO.

Tiddlywinks63 · 28/08/2026 07:33

Chavvy and ridiculous but then what else should we expect from them? We’ve had years of this farcical nonsense and unfortunately it’s now closer to home than before.
At least no one can say they’re not making absolutely tits of themselves and providing plenty of laughs!

I agree with you, but I don't think Harry would. I'm not saying his thought processes are logical but I do believe there is the possibility that he is trying to manifest security.

As an aside I think less of any former Home Secretary who thinks it's appropriate to make comments on security for individuals.

Odeline · 28/08/2026 07:36

Did Liam McGuire relocate back to the UK earlier this year, supposedly for family reasons but continued to work for H&M? Maybe he was sent ahead to sus it all out and do the legwork on the ground. Maybe they couldn’t trust new handlers not to leak so Liam was the canary down the mine if this has been in the planning for 6 months.

Does the 6 month timeframe fit with anything significant at that time as to why they scoped and made this decision- was it NF showing them the door?

Odeline · 28/08/2026 07:41

BigWillyLittleTodger · 27/08/2026 22:13

The HAMs have threatened to sue Tom Sykes.

Also very Trumpian behaviour

It's utterly foolish and only about scoring points

mermadeincornwall · 28/08/2026 07:49

I'm curious...if HaM have bought a house at such short notice, how have they managed to furnish it etc.?
I can't imagine M letting a PA choose towels, bedding ,crockery and everything else.

AustenitesUnite · 28/08/2026 07:49

Sadly the death has just been reported of King Harald of Norway

I really liked and respected him and he, like our own monarch, had to deal with a lot of family difficulties during the past few years

My sympathies to the Norwegian Royal family and all Norwegians especially Norwegian MN's

Harry would have a lot of money. Diana's divorce may have only been £10m shared but she had money in her own right from before marriage.

It certainly isn't about security. Keir Starmer managed to be Prime Minister without the names or faces of his children getting into the press. Celebrities who really value their children's privacy protect them all the time.

I have never listened to Palace Confidential before but listened to a bit of the link this morning. They were very measured and not sensational at all and it was clear that everything we know and everything we speculate about this move comes from contradictory Sussex press leaks and briefings. This is not the behaviour of people who want a secure private life, it's how people who need public attention behave.

Very true about Keir Starmer, and I respect him for that. It's entirely possible to have privacy, but some people just want to go on Instagram and share everything.

Zara’s girls go to our local swimming club. No paps at the door every Thursday evening.

I also read that about Charlotte's trampoline club. Kate is always there. The other parents respect their privacy. No pictures, no details.

I can picture Meghan phoning Harrods:

’I need to furnish an entire house. Give me the most expensive furniture you have, no, it doesn’t matter what it looks like, just make sure it’s the most expensive. Same for towels and bed linen. I don’t care what colour, just make sure they cost an absolute bomb. And leave the labels on, I want people to see how much they cost.’

I always thought it was telling that the photo of Catherine buying ice creams after school was obviously taken from a bus. It is clear that the other school parents respect their right to a private family life. We never get leaks about coffee mornings or anything else.

It makes a mockery of Harry's grandiose request that the press don't print details which they were, by long standing agreement, never going to print anyway.

Starryfifty · 28/08/2026 08:23

The constant leaks from HAM are to ensure his security. Simple as. They will leak details of school, events , etc and kick and scream that they are at risk.

No. The same with Meghan's wild claim in The Cut interview, that she couldn't send her children to school in the UK because they would be hounded by the paps. Schooling them in the USA made her "a good parent".

Yes, this is what it's all about. Clear as day.
