GBNews are reporting that Harry and Megan are moving back to the UK at the end of August.

I won't believe it until I hear it on the BBC.

I'm hearing the word "temporary" being used of their move.

Could it be that Invictus have given H an ultimatum, after he basically did nothing for them on his last visit? As this is an important (the last important one?) for his international profile, he won't want to lose it.

So, a move to the UK for a year, with immediate effect, so that he can drum up funding from whatever network of rich families he has left, and so can better bend the ear of the Labour ministers and members who seem to like him. Enrol the DCs for a year, then, after Invictus 2027, move back to Cali moaning about how the RF didn't make them welcome and write another book.

Oh, and announce it the day before the ANL costs decision is announced.

Yes, so this latest move is about creating more content. Cue H and M being slighted and victimised by the RF and media, then back to USA for another Netflix show, Oprah interview etc, filling the coffers.

I hope that's not what happens. I think it's misjudged as well as most Americans value loyalty and don't like it when people throw their family under the bus. And they don't like barrell bottoms being scraped.

5MinuteArgument · 21/08/2026 10:57

I hope they both find productive roles to occupy them and provide enough income so they don't need to create masses of drama, whinge and badmouth their families and monetise being 'victims'. All this nonsense chimes with the craziness of our times.

Just hope they can turn over a new leaf.

Fit in how? They are never going to be working royals, however much their parents wish to give this impression. As has been said many times, they are their generation’s equivalent of AMW’s daughters. He wanted them to be part of the working royal entourage and was firmly told no. Why
would it be any different for Archie and Lily? By the time they are adults it’s entirely possible that George will already have a child and so they will be even further away from the throne

I meant just fit in with their relatives in a private relationship sense if they wanted to get to know them as people. Upper class Britain is very different to the US.

'Films and stage? It is a very competitive market though hence why UK actors tend to do well when the move to US'

But she did Deal or No Deal then got lucky with Suits. We aren't talking about an experienced stage or film actress.

Apparently they only told KC about the move on Sunday despite the visit a few weeks ago. Why do they keep pulling these stunts? Obviously for the headlines but they seem a bit odd to say the least the way they go about things.

It's not been said what she doing if anything.

I've seen her in suits and in Frindge epsiode I thought she had screen presence and she has name recongition - I have no idea if someone thinks that's enough to use her somewhere.

Certainly other US actors with no stage experience or limited have have done stage shows and relied on name recognition.

If they need money or suplimentary income and some postive new stories- this is area she made money before so if someone offered her a credible something I can see why she'd take it even if it meant temporay move back to UK.

If she can find work - good for her - we've no idea what it could be.

Personally I'll wait to see what if anything materalises to pass any judgement on it all.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 21/08/2026 11:22

Is that really likely though, @5MinuteArgument?

It's only very recently that Harry was lambasting his father's courts, whining about stitch ups and insisting that he could see no world in which the family could return, and it's well seen that Meghan's only real interest is herself, so after their constant ugly behaviour where would such a huge change come from?

news sources say it will be until the children finish their education. It’s sounding more and more that they want their children to have RP British accents, be prepared for a royal life and have the option to be royal; so they can’t swing around in 15 years and accuse their parents of denying them a golden opportunity. That and the opportunity to get in Dads good books so he can write out a few cheques for them.

Yes, I think this is unfortunately right. Harry wants his children to have an opportunity to be 'royal'. He doesn't want William's children having that sphere to themselves. I bet that's it.

Oh God. I can see a nightmare ahead for William. I don't see how H can ever be brought back into royal life - if he his, I'm joining Republic! Yet, how can the children be inducted into royal life if their parents are outside it? How could it work?

And - what hypocrites. They both flounced off talking about 'this institution', the 'men in grey suits', the way that William is 'trapped'. And now they want this for their children?

Ugh, and double ugh. It's all going to be a bit of a train wreck, isn't it?

And UC Britain is not going to be congenial for anyone with Californian views about blood sports, the patriarchy etc - all the things which apparently caused problems between Meghan and H's friends when they first were introduced.

Have either of them thought this through? What on earth do they think has changed for the better for them? Some people (not on MN) are saying 'Oh, H can re-connect with his old mates!'

Well - I get the impression he's alienated many of them by his behaviour and the hunting, shooting, fishing types are not going to be Meghan's cup of tea. It's bizarre, unless they're thinking of living separate lives in some way.

I think many of H's old mates will want to give him a bit of a swerve (esp if they want to keep on good terms with the rest of the RF) and most certainly not relish spending time with mouthy Meghan.

Victims......it's hilarious. I'm sorry his mother died, it was awful

Pull yourself togther and use your wealth to change society.

The house opposite mine has just sold, I understand that the new people have a young family. I’ll let you know if it turns out to be Harry and Meghan…

Does it have a shark infested moat for them to welcome the press.?🙄

Fifiesta, they actively alert the press of things. The narrative that the press is out to get them has been debunked by Charlotte Griffiths explaining that they have a WhatsApp group and are briefing about themselves.

This is why we saw the whiplash inducing articles about their trip to UK before it happened.

You seem to believe I don’t see them for what they are?
I have no illusions about either of them, it won’t stop me taking the mick about how they see themselves though…

Seems a bit drastic to move lock stock and barrel back to the UK to fit in with relatives, though. Why don’t they just holiday over here with them? They have been on permanent invite to Balmoral since they got married. I would have thought that would be enough for them to get to know the mores of the RF. Not sure why they need to go to school here 🤷‍♀️

Will the kids rooms be exactly the same size? Will A and L be given the same number of sausages for breakfast?

Exactly.

They have plenty of money to fly over and back as often as they wish. And neither has a real job so plenty of time and flexibility too. If they could show discretion they might have been given the use of a secure royal estate for summer holidays, and also travel to Balmoral. Maybe Christmases at Sandringham and other visits during the year too. Plenty of opportunity for the children to get to know the British side of their family without the family having to relocate.

And why was Britain so very dangerous just a few months ago, but is apparently perfectly fine now?

panomara · 21/08/2026 14:12

Their move back is definitely because of the cheap and plentiful Ryanair flights to Portugal. Micko will be delighted with the free publicity, especially if they just use cabin bags within the regulated size of course.

Handy spot to escape to if the heat becomes too much back at the ranch. 😊

merryredfly · 21/08/2026 14:17

@IcedPurple And why was Britain so very dangerous just a few months ago, but is apparently perfectly fine now?

I'd like an answer to that as well !

In the book Endgame, released last year, author Omid Scobie revealed that the Duchess of Sussex "never felt at home" in the U.K. and "never wants to set foot again in England."

Seems that's changed. Maybe it's something to do with the jam ?!

They could get jobs.

Maybe Meghan has a gig on Eastenders?

AprilMizzel · 21/08/2026 09:05

His wife surely won't have an acting role in this country. If she was going to pursue that then the US would obviously offer more opportunity. What's here, soaps and reality shows?

Films and stage? It is a very competitive market though hence why UK actors tend to do well when the move to US.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c79g28zxwzdo

The Duchess of Sussex could make a return to acting after she moves back to the UK, according to reports.
Sources close to the Sussexes have not denied reports that Meghan has been offered an acting role in the country.
Australian outlet news.com.au, external first reported that one of the reasons behind Harry and Meghan's decision to return to Britain was that the duchess had been offered a job in an upcoming project.

Unless that the Sussex putting it out there in hope it drums up work for her sounds like it may be another reason they've moved.

Is Meghan not a bit long in the tooth for the sort of roles she used to do ? Flipping burgers in her underwear, opening suitcases with her cleavage on show etc ?

I think it's wait and see what is turns out to be.

It could be a kite flying exercise - they put out she here for work and see if any offers come in for all any of us know.

But if she can get work that helps support them - not a bad thing IMO.

Two TV shows I saw her in while she wasn't doing deep acting - she was fine and memorable and not in her underware opening cases.

I think her acting career was moderately successful and coming to a natural end when she headed to UK to husband hunt -- doesn't mean she can't resurrect some kind of career - especially if there some financial pressure on her to do so.

I think it would be better for everyone if they were occupied with work rather than obessesing on how to one up in the press.

Surely she'd have been better placed to do that when living down the road from Hollywood?
