GBNews are reporting that Harry and Megan are moving back to the UK at the end of August.

I won't believe it until I hear it on the BBC.

Well said! Did they ever think about the impact they had on any of the RF? They made the Queen's last years a misery.

i think AW did that.

Janiie · 21/08/2026 08:12

It's just all so very tedious isn't it. I really wish the media would get together and agree on a complete blanket ban on reporting on them. They've been all over the news and papers again and it will continue.

They hated the UK, they treated the rf appallingly with their tell all gossipy interviews and now we have their rictus grinning faces everywhere again. Poor William.

Yes. I’ve been thinking of William and Kate in this. She has been through cancer treatment and the physical and emotional toll that takes. I think William is extra protective of her now. How could any man forgive a brother and sister-in-law who had made nasty suggestions about his wife and insulted the whole family? I’ve been through cancer myself and many people who have will tell you, you find out very quickly who your real friends are. Both William and Kate will not want to be inviting any previous stressors into their lives now.

R4 reporting Meghan has accepted a uk based acting role …

I do wonder if the jam empire will just quietly disappear?

Dollymylove · 21/08/2026 08:25

Corrie or Emmerdale? 🤣

They own the house.

Zero evidence of that.

PotolKimchi · 21/08/2026 08:29

The difference with Jason Arday and this pair (since someone brought this up) is that he was largely speaking a private citizen. As a non-white academic I do think he was a fraud and a fabulist. Once he'd resigned did he deserve the relentless coverage and mockery, no? Especially when there are plenty of people accused of plagiarism (and worse) at Oxbridge and Ivy League universities.

Harry and Meghan have in fact bristled at the claims they want 'privacy'. Their supporters argue that they want to lead a public life on their own terms. Which means that they court publicity. She's been known to call Backgrid to photograph her. She's made dramatic appearances at Paris Fashion Week (only for the designer to see she called him and for him to not invite her the next year). They have made Netflix documentaries, written memoirs about their time in the Royal Family, they have let the world believe that their family made racist comments about their children, a few months ago Harry said that he could not imagine a world in which his children returned to the UK, she has said she cannot imagine doing the school run in the UK. These are big bold claims. And hey, now they are back!

Well obviously he didn't help but AMW was a product of his coddled, spoilt upbringing. The Queen gave him the trade envoy job, he was called 'Randy Andy' and the Playboy Prince for decades in the media so the rf knew exactly what he was like. Obviously not that he was pals with a sex offender, still someone should have reined him in years ago. His downfall was entirely predictable.

I think H running to to the media spilling the beans on ever spat and squabble over the years caused massive amounts of hurt and disappointment and was more of a shock as he'd hidden his resentment and bitterness until he was encouraged to gaslight his entire family.

His wife surely won't have an acting role in this country. If she was going to pursue that then the US would obviously offer more opportunity. What's here, soaps and reality shows?

They've ran out of money, some enabler is putting them up again and they'll be sniffing round KC for handouts. As we all predicted when they flounced.

Him too but H and M were particularly public and obnoxious.

Films and stage? It is a very competitive market though hence why UK actors tend to do well when the move to US.

The Duchess of Sussex could make a return to acting after she moves back to the UK, according to reports.
Sources close to the Sussexes have not denied reports that Meghan has been offered an acting role in the country.
Australian outlet news.com.au, external first reported that one of the reasons behind Harry and Meghan's decision to return to Britain was that the duchess had been offered a job in an upcoming project.

Unless that the Sussex putting it out there in hope it drums up work for her sounds like it may be another reason they've moved.

But she did Deal or No Deal then got lucky with Suits. We aren't talking about an experienced stage or film actress.

Apparently they only told KC about the move on Sunday despite the visit a few weeks ago. Why do they keep pulling these stunts? Obviously for the headlines but they seem a bit odd to say the least the way they go about things.

CoffeeCantata · 21/08/2026 09:34

I have woken up feeling miserable. Is anyone else gutted that HAM are coming back? I don't like them and the only good thing about them was that they were thousands of miles away.

Now, the prospect of them not only being on the cover of gossip mags when I go to the supermarket, but actually appearing within a modest distance of me is filling me with misery. The thought of these tow nasty people being rehabilitated irritates my sense that there should be consequences to bad behaviour.

Just been down to the shop and glanced at headlines (which may or not be true):

H & M are going to cost £5m in security (Mirror - I hope that's not true).
King puts William first as Harry returns (Times - please let that be true).

Love them or hate them, or just find them a Royal Pain, as I do, we are just NEVER going to be free of them. I wish no harm on them - I just want them to clear off, live a private life and never appear on my horizon again.

Saw some friends for drinks yesterday evening and all 8 women were similarly cheesed of by the news.

Aaaarrrggghhh. Make it stop! The thought of them having any sort of profile here is so depressing.

Good god. I realise this is the royal forum, but in the face of climate change, wars, AI, the CoL, this is what 9 people are miserable about?

Yes, yes, I know I am an interloper here. I will clear off.

CandidLurker · 21/08/2026 09:42

@CoffeeCantata Yes it has depressed me. I felt like we were gradually hearing and seeing less of them which was increasing my levels of happiness I messaged someone yesterday asking “have we not suffered enough?”

You know we can all multi task and be worried about all the things you list while still be irritated that his pair of attention seeking prats are coming back to the UK?

He's made a career out of saying how he'd never do it and how very amazeballs making jam in the US is.

Can you not see that it's largely because of those serious issues (which I follow carefully) that I absolutely dread the news media being full of this pair of utter wastes of space?

CoffeeCantata · 21/08/2026 09:46

@CandidLurker

Exactly. I really thought they were fading into the sunset.

Sigh, miserable expression.

Corrie or Emmerdale? 🤣

What on earth can it be?

I just can't think of anything 'glam' enough for her to stoop to on Salty Island!

I'd pay good money to see her behind the bar at the Rover's Return, though, having been coached in a Salford accent. That thought cheers me up a bit.

Rhaidimiddim · 21/08/2026 09:50

I'm hearing the word "temporary" being used of their move.

Could it be that Invictus have given H an ultimatum, after he basically did nothing for them on his last visit? As this is an important (the last important one?) for his international profile, he won't want to lose it.

So, a move to the UK for a year, with immediate effect, so that he can drum up funding from whatever network of rich families he has left, and so can better bend the ear of the Labour ministers and members who seem to like him. Enrol the DCs for a year, then, after Invictus 2027, move back to Cali moaning about how the RF didn't make them welcome and write another book.

Oh, and announce it the day before the ANL costs decision is announced.

news sources say it will be until the children finish their education. It’s sounding more and more that they want their children to have RP British accents, be prepared for a royal life and have the option to be royal; so they can’t swing around in 15 years and accuse their parents of denying them a golden opportunity. That and the opportunity to get in Dads good books so he can write out a few cheques for them.

They'll be saying 'temporary' so that when it goes badly (which it will) and they flounce again they can pretend it was always the plan.
Where next though?!

I always wondered a little bit how that would play out. The kids would have plenty of opportunities in the US. However, trying to put myself in their position I can imagine being peed off to realise as a young adult I'd had no access to or experience of the royal side of the equation. It would be very awkward as a fully americanised adult trying to go back and fit in (if that's what they wanted).

OvaHere · 21/08/2026 10:16

To add, I'm not sure if there was always a plan to come back or whether the realities of some stuff have only occurred to them as the kids have got older. If they were fully committed to a non royal US life the best thing for the kids would have been no titles. Having titles but also pursuing an American life has added to the weight of the issue about how to raise A&L in their best interests.

Fit in how? They are never going to be working royals, however much their parents wish to give this impression. As has been said many times, they are their generation’s equivalent of AMW’s daughters. He wanted them to be part of the working royal entourage and was firmly told no. Why
would it be any different for Archie and Lily? By the time they are adults it’s entirely possible that George will already have a child and so they will be even further away from the throne
