Are the bets on or off for an invite to Balmoral?
Will Meghan bake a humble pie for Catherine?
Let’s discuss……!

Rob Schuter said he met Meg years ago. According to him, she was known as an out and out hustler. No talent. No interest in learning/ taking advice, she just wanted publicity/ fame. Nobody was surprised when she bagged H. It was part of a long term plan

It's all getting very circular isn't it? Press articles about security, whether or not they will visit the UK, where they will stay, if they will see the King, whether or not they will come for Christmas or to Balmoral in the Summer. Harry offering to reconcile, an attack on William, the King about to cave in some way, Harry being concerned about a situation or person he knows nothing about.

There is nothing new, nothing has actually changed since "recollections may vary". Harry, and his PR are stuck in a spiral of repeating press releases which are just proving the law of diminishing returns. He still gets attention in the press but I think we are near the point where they get bored and move on. If no one pays him attention, how will convince himself that he is living a royal life of service?

Until he faces up to the reality of what he has done and accepts responsibility, this is his life. It is really sad and he did it to himself.

I’m not sure all that comes from Harry though.

the press are contracting, Royal correspondents need to provide regular stories that get online clicks for advertising to avoid losing their dedicated roles. The main working royals give them little to work with that the public want to read, and for whatever reason, the public do still click on all articles about H&M.

“Will they come for Christmas/summer/insert royal family occasion?” Is an easy to write story that allows them to recycle a photo of H&M looking loved up, gets clicks and comments, takes 5 minutes.

I really thought the public would get bored of Harry by now, but as long as those articles get clicks and advertising views, we’re going to get those obvious filler stories speculating about stuff that will never happen. Harry isn’t coming for Christmas, everyone knows this. But if there’s a lull in royal news until they get Catherine’s Carol service, those stories will appear and I bet lots of people on this thread will prove the royal correspondents right by clicking on the articles and pushing up the interest.

I think that 50 minute afternoon tea * at Highgrove is doing some very heavy lifting for Harry with his drip of wants to come back to the UK more often / family / Balmoral and/or Christmas - will they won't they ?/ prodigal returns narrative. But as @MyDogClive and others have said , the silly season is nearly over & there will be more substantive stories about H soon - ANL costs and Sentebale case.

@Starryfifty - that is a really good impression of M. 👏

Anyone manifesting Christmas needs to remember Peter Phillips’s wedding, just three months ago, literally all the Royals there, including quite a few I didn’t even know about or had forgotten.
No invitation to H&M.
No one wants them around.
Thats not going to change any time soon, especially not for Christmas.

Though a tiny part of me would enjoy a spot as fly on the wall whilst Meghan weighs up the dilemma of being seen at a Royal Christmas, A&L on the walk with the cousins v keeping them hidden and her controlling all pictures of the backs of their heads.
I wonder which would win. It’s almost worth issuing an invitation to call their bluff.

They don't play the long game. HAM are expecting a Xmas invite. Nothing else going on for them

Good points, and whoever is initiating articles, eventually interest will die out. It won't be the Summer forever. Working Royals will be back in circulation, there are lots of serious issues facing the country and above all people are still struggling with the cost of living. If Harry wants to whine about his finances and security he will come across as tone deaf. If he really wants to grow his support he needs to do something new, or at least be consistently seen supporting his charities. At the moment he is coasting on a fast dwindling legacy from his past.

The other thing about all these proposed frequent visits is where will he stay? Sure Buckingham Palace (and possibly St James Palace) have been offered and supposedly he will always have the option of somewhere “Royal” to stay but as was pointed out back in July, BP isn’t a royal travelodge. Infact it’s funded by the public as opposed to private residences. He simply can’t just set up a second home from home within BP.
Frogmore has had all evidence of their makeover removed and I think it’s been said, returned to the previous several small cottages rather than one.

I am quite sure William would strongly oppose any accommodation within Windsor.

Would Charles buy them somewhere in the Home Counties? What about security?

Charles Spencer might have welcomed them this time but I doubt he would relish being the regular drop in destination.

No other relatives are likely to offer the spare bedroom.

It simply isn’t as simple as Harry thinking he can just rock up more often now. I imagine the “will always have the option” statement/offer was possibly made in the expectation of a couple of days once or twice a year. Not setting up a second home. 🙄

BigWillyLittleTodger · 18/08/2026 11:53

Who’s in Nottingham Cottage these days?

And it won’t be just Harry they will have to accommodate, it will be his PR team, assistants, private security, will he give BP notice or is he just going to rock up whenever he feels like it? And who is footing the bill for his jaunts back to dear old Blighty every few months?

I'm not sure about Notts cottage

But William and Catherine use their apartment in KP as their office HQ and do their official entertaining there so I'm not sure they'd by happy with HAM there (and rummaging in the boot of their cars)

I doubt HAM would accept Notts Cottage - they whined about living there as a couple

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 18/08/2026 12:32

I am a mean person and would love it if this was what was offered. 'His Majesty wishes to inform you that Nottingham Cottage will be made available for your visits, as it fulfills your security requirements and is centrally located. This is the only property currently available. Should this prove unsatisfactory, your Grace is welcome to make alternative arrangements. A list of reputable hotels can be found on Google. Kind regards, The Hot Equerry.'

BasiliskStare · 18/08/2026 12:39

I'm not sure why H needs to be offered anything permanent. Certainly not Nott Cott - far too good for him. What normal person wouldn't love a Wren designed cottage in the grounds of KP, rather than complaining about it (to Oprah) . Given he has to give RAVEC notice I reckon a few rooms in BP if available with notice will do him just fine.

Giving him a permanent base will just up the ante with HIHO stories , I think anyway.

Starryfifty · 18/08/2026 12:50

They don't need to be offered anything. Meg absolutely can't have any royal accommodation. She's liable to photo everything, snoop etc. KC would be crazy to allow this. They can stay at hotels or H's second dad, CS can put them up

I didn't read the whole article but is he making money out of her memory?

Or will he donate all profits to charities she was associated with?

Doesn’t look like it says. It was only a skim read though. It definitely tells you the price and how to pre order at the end!!

Mylovelygreendress · 18/08/2026 13:03

I didn’t see anything about donating proceeds to charity but I might have missed it .
I am just wondering where this leaves the HAM’s rumoured project ?

AutumnCrowsMusings · 18/08/2026 13:06

Well, doesn’t that just stir the pot and steal Harry’s thunder?! Exciting times on the Diana Grift Circuit.

3peassuit · 18/08/2026 13:06

After 30 years, is there anything more to be said? It seems rather distasteful to be making more money from Diana’s memory.

I agree . She should be left to rest in peace .
I am sure that William will - as always- remember his mother privately.

Starryfifty · 18/08/2026 13:32

What else can be said ? Wonder will book release coincide with HAM's documentary?

HoldMyWine · 18/08/2026 13:48

Well well well, Charles Spencer has sold his sister out. Those ex wives don’t pay for themselves. Takes the wind out Harold’s planned documentary though. The grifting gene runs deep.

MargaretThursday · 18/08/2026 13:56

I wonder though whether this is aimed at stopping a Netflix Documentary.

He may rather have a book on his terms than a Documentary on H's terms
