This thread is beyond embarrassing.

Why ?

No way really? I remember him on a CBB a good few years ago, he didn't exactly come across well, boring & full of his own self importance

I LOVE couture, especially weddings (I practically lived in the V&A when I lived in London) & I was so disappointed with Diana's dress looking back, everything was wrong

Love the V&A too. I saw Kylie’s glittery shorts! I wasn’t there for that though, honest …

Scorchio84 · 24/04/2026 18:44

Oh my god @TheAutumnCrow no way!!! I wish they'd tour some of the collections over here to Dublin..

So what were you there for if not for Kylie's hotpants.. for fear of derailing the thread 😆

It was incredible and set a completely new trend in wedding dresses. The whole ensemble looked amazing in the Cathedral. Copies got snapped up! It was very much of it's time.

It epitomised the height of the new romantic fashion of the early 80s

I remember people in those enormous Regency-style billowing shirts with ruffles, flounces and bows (and that was just the blokes)

Edited to add - those Laura Ashley frocks that everyone wore to weddings as well

Oh we loved it! I had a blouse with a huge ruffled neck and big puffy sleeves! It was tremendous fun after the 70s, which seemed to be dominated by brown polyester 😊

I have come round to thinking that I feel a bit sorry for this pathetic pair now. How sad to be so self-obsessed and up yourself, and feel so hard done by when in fact you are very wealthy and living in luxury, are fit and healthy, have two healthy children (although - excepting MM's mother - they no longer have other family due to their own actions). Many of us can only dream of being in that situation. Sad to not just accept your fantastic good fortune and get on with your life, in private, and mind your own business.

You are a kind person but don’t waste your sympathies. MM unleashed all manner of vitriol on the RF both directly and through her Sussex Squad. She is an evil person.

Back in the day, I was shepherding STEM undergraduates around the Science Museum and Design Museum, and we also ‘nipped in’ to the V&A to see some of the metalwork and design collections. The glittery shorts were unmissable!

It’s a real wonderland of design and form. Would love to go to the V&A East.

Btw, I’ve been to see the Book of Kells, too. One of my old friends was a prof at Trinity.

End of derail Smile

God I loved him decades later, my cousin taped white tape across my nose so I could be more of a highway Dandy man

Almost the end of the derail..that sounds amazing!

I'd love to go to the V&A East, hopefully next time I'm over,

Ah yeah Trinners is cool too, saw Air there a couple of summers ago, apropos to nothing

LaMarschallin · 24/04/2026 19:47

Took my daughters to see the exhibition of Kylie's stage outfits many years ago.
I literally couldn't have fitted my skeleton, flayed of all flesh, into her clothes.
She must be minute.

These two weirdos almost seem in competition with each other. It's like Harry can't stand to be in m's shadow and has to be even more outlandish in what he does or says.

At this moment in time Harry is far ahead of Meghan in the asshole olympics!

LazyCatLtd · 24/04/2026 20:26

Remember who wrote his speeches! He’s just the dummy. She’s pulling the strings.

On the theme of clothing being tiny, I have seen MMs wedding dress on display up close. It’s astonishing how tiny she was . It’s like a dolls dress.

Completely OT I get irritated every time an Emmanuel is wheeled at a royal wedding to comment on the frock. They did such a poor job with Diana you would think they would just fade away rather than pretend to be the last word in wedding style.

For some reason I was convinced one or other had bitten the dust but google assures me apparently not.

David Emmanuel had a collaboration with Bon Marche a while back. I like their undies so used to stroll in from time to time

There always seemed to be masses of glitter-stricken DE topwear on the sale rail so definitely no fading away there 😁

Jesus, this sounds so scary and sinister.

The Soros machine also funded the Colomia trip, apparently.

The RF have met their match. It will be interesting to see how they respond to well-funded mischief-making from one of their own

While both were awesome I have to defend 70's fashion.

The 70's started with mums turning straight jeans into flares with triangular floral insets (maybe just mine and the girl down the road's 😆) then later DM made (made!) me both a much admired tweedy coat and velvet jacket (so cool ) while I myself, just me sewed budgie bells down the sides of my flares. I also had a huge collared pink shirt with multi coloured stars all over it, a tank top. purple cords and two tone purple Oxfords.

God, I was the dog's 😎

New Romantic fashion also great but by then I was in a conservative working environment and had to confine myself to subtle nods to two-tone 🙁

Mmm.. I was definitely scarred by too much brown polyester and zig zag braid 😂

I did have two alternating cream nylon school shirts washed out daily by tight DM who wouldn't divvy up for the much coveted cotton version enjoyed by my peers if that helps?

I find this worrying, someone for their own reasons, trying to destabilise a democracy.

Whether the uk is a monarchy or not, it is still a democratic country.

Huh.

Also just remembered my purple nylon PJ's ( which would undoubtedly comprehensively fail any fire safety test conducted within the last 40 years).

Almost certainly Tesco Delamare but possibly the very close by Brentford Nylons?

Happy days 😎

I had one green nylon one, which I washed once a week.
