For sure the first photo of A&L will generate a lot of interest, exactly why they are managing the images of their kids.

TBF there are so many easily reconstructable head and side views out there already I don't think a full on mugshot is going to cut the public mustard.

I think the Harolds have probably - as ever - missed that boat already.

canklesmctacotits · 29/04/2026 21:20

I’m pretty sure that two seemingly emotionally continent parents as William and Kate seem to be have made clear to their children that this is nothing to do with how much each one is loved and treasured by them and their family, it’s totally separate and to do with work. It reminds me of all the inheritance threads on here where some posters are very print that they take unequal bequests as a reflection of a parent’s love for them rather than an acknowledgement of fact or practicality or expediency. It’s such an immature approach on the part of the parents, I think, to not have open and frank discussions from early on. I’d be confident that W&C are having similarly open and frank conversations that the law makes it seem like it’s all about daddy and George but in our family, as between us, you three are all equal and we love you all the same.

CathyorClaire · 29/04/2026 21:26

People don't seem to pay attention when William and Kate are out doing their day-to-day work visiting charities, factories, community centres and the military etc.

Maybe because the stated intention is to cut down on the already severely limited 'work' in such areas they reluctantly currently carry out?

I agree with this. They have "over teased" if that even a phrase. It might be a nine day wonder but , in truth those children have already been over exposed in photos and in their parents speaking about them - I suspect most people won't give a damn other than a quick - oh which one does A take after etc. As ever , H&M seem blitheringly incapable of keeping their powder dry.

Sorry @Wordler , I cross posted your much better and more succinct post - my defence is only - slow typist easily distracted .

Also as p&h are such divisive figures, I fear there will be horrible comments about the kids looks, etc...social media a horrible place. Healthy option would be to keep them well away but no money in that 🙄🙄

I don't know how true it is but an article recently claimed that the Wales are well aware of the dangers of elevating the Heir over the spares. They are apparently making sure that each of the children find a role or purpose, in or out of the working family.

Time will tell

Sometimes - but not always

Pictures a few times a year is better than regular appearances on the As Ever accounts - I'm pretty sure we've seen more of Archie and Lili so far this year - are they also fishing for instagram likes???

They just post these random photos of the kids facing away/hair covering them in what always looks really unnatural shots.

The Wales photos are always so warm and easy, probably because they aren't trying to hide the kids faceseall the time in the photos that are usually only released for a specific occasion, birthday, fathers day, Christmas etc.

Where H&M seem to post random photos of their kids 🤷‍♀️

And because they have done so much ‘boasting’ about the kids, Lilibeth in particular, ‘such long hair’ , and when they did release a photo the discussion was ‘but she doesn’t have hair long enough to sit on’ ‘The ‘blue, blue eyes’ and the Spencer gene descriptors.

Harry and Meghan, shockingly, have opened the discussion about their own kids looks.

Edited to add, the images they have released so far of the kids show that Archie favours Meghan and Lilibeth favours her maternal grandfather and Meghans horrible half sister.

corblimeygvnr · 01/05/2026 07:36

I agree with this. Considering Harry brought up that there were " concerns "about the skin colour of a child then they have opened up this Pandora's box. Comments will be made about their looks including their skin colour whatever it is because of them and their postings. No one would have thought twice about a child of theirs if they had seen baby pics but now with years and years of this, people will look with a more enquiring eye because of this and all the guff Harry has fed to the press.

I feel sorry for those DC . You just know that they will be compared to the Wales DC rather than being allowed to be themselves.

HelenaWilson · 01/05/2026 11:49

Well in the 6 days of April 23-28 they've done.....

You also don't see all the briefings and meetings and reading W probably has to do in relation to his constitutional role, to the Duchy of Cornwall, to Earthshot and his other projects and to upcoming engagements. Catherine similarly will have behind the scenes work for her projects and patronages.

When Charles was PofW, he'd be at his desk late into the evening.

Oh, come now. They live a life of privilige and ease. Let's not pretend they have to do anything vaguely approaching even part time.

Or, let’s not pretend the work and responsibilities of the PoW are confined to a few handshakes, ribbon cutting and plaque unveiling. That would be a very naive and ignorant perspective.

They do not work hard in the way that any normal person would understand. Do they have to put up with shit like press intrusion? Yes. Does that mean we should pretend they are working hard like most normal people? No.

HelenaWilson · 01/05/2026 15:27

They do not work hard in the way that any normal person would understand.

Well one difference is that most 'normal people' expect to retire when they reach pension age. Senior working royals don't.

But what qualifies you to say they don't work hard? Are you privy to how they spend every waking moment of their days?

MargaretThursday · 01/05/2026 17:17

What do you mean by working hard though?

Dh sometimes works well into the night - that's often when he's got a piece of work he particularly enjoys. Is that working hard?

The last fortnight at my job we've had a really tough fortnight. But if I described to you what I have done you really would not get the pressure and the amount that has been done, because so much is just little bits of stuff that need doing but don't sound big.

I have no idea how much work the RF puts into each engagement - just as I have no idea how much work the manager of the local Sainsbury's does. As far as I see, he strolls out of his office occasionally and says "make this bit look better" or "can you do some stocktaking here?" Does that mean that's all he does?

They just work differently to you.

I don't work hard at all. But I work and it's meaningful and useful.

And who's to say it isn't hard? It's not easy is it...Megs discovered this(!). And why do you think they train the kids up?

Nah. He has people to do all that for him. When he does those visits to Centre Point, Bigg Issue, Earthshot - he has a bloke in the car read the brief to him on his way there so he doesn't have to spend time swatting.

And Charles doesn't write his own speeches, he just gets up there and parrots them - and if he makes that look easy it's cos he's been trained to do it over 7 decades.

They're all lazy, them Windors. And thick to.

It’s a bit like people who say teachers are lazy because they finish at 4 and get school holidays. Ignorant beyond belief.

Well at least they show up an do good! And in your sentence about the Windsors being thick is… it’s pretty funny to make a spelling mistake! … just sayin’ 😉

Muphrey's Law and me are old mates.

@jeffgoldblum has it right, I was being sarcastic. Riffing on a theme here, regularly pushed, that W is lazy. This past week it has extended to include his dad

Great analogy. I remember when I first got married my MIL was shocked that I was unable to go to a family lunch because I was doing lesson planning. She didn’t realise that was a thing!!
