Meghan showing her ignorance today at a Jewish remembrance event. Did she think it was beachy and nautical?

Thank you, @corblimeygvnr .
Just when you think they cannot stoop lower.

MrsFinkelstein · 17/04/2026 10:09

I had typed this out to reply to a post on the previous thread, but then it got full. Hopefully it still makes sense.

I would point out - that there is absolutely nothing prestigious about this "opportunity". They are facing consequences, and that is to fall slowly but inexorably into irrelevance. I'll grant it's very slow , but it is happening.

Take this whole trip. They haven't met anyone official from the Australian Govt, they aren't staying in a diplomatic residence, just a hotel. They didn't get an official tour of the Hospital, just kept in the foyer. The Girls retreat hasn't sold out, was only for 300 people (Gwyneth Paltrow did it for 3000 people).

And most importantly, Mergie's dropped significantly down the fashion chain. She's gone from elite designers (Dior, Givenchy etc) to clothes retailing for 100s - still expensive, but not really exclusive. And designers the majority have never heard of. She's back at High Street level fashion, another shoot for Reitmans may be on the cards. This is absolutely not where she ever thought she would be. IMO, she's loving the publicity, but hates the circumstances.

I can completely understand the frustration of posters who feel they're getting away with it - but looked with an overview - from where they were to know - is a huge downgrade. Both will be very aware of that IMO.

OctopusFriend · 17/04/2026 10:11

Fair points, @MrsFinkelstein .
Although I think I'm still reeling from the latest merchandising opportunity, to be honest.

corblimeygvnr · 17/04/2026 10:11

Onto the girlie weekend . What do they think is going to happen ?

I never comment on these threads but read them all, but have you seen the video of Meghan at Bondi Beach, she can barely be bothered to listen to the woman talking. It's unbelievably rude.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/04/2026 10:24

This has been a challenging time for Jewish communities in the UK and elsewhere. There is such a thing as decency and common humanity

This was from the last thread and you're right of course, @OctopusFriend - except they clearly haven't got any
If they were ever confronted about this there'd probably be an unprovable claim that they'd donated the £ to some jewish charity, but since awkward questions aren't allowed it's not going to happen

As for the lack of clobber being provided by luxury designers, @MrsFinkelstein, I'm not sure her image is something they'd want to be associated any more - and why do people keep mentioning Givenchy when whatever happened over the creation of the hideous wedding outfits probably sent them running for the hills?

HelenaWilson · 17/04/2026 10:24

Gala dinner implies posh frocks and bling. Is she going to do a quick change in the Ladies back into shirt and jeans for the rugby?I

And most importantly, Mergie's dropped significantly down the fashion chain....

There will come a point when reputable brands won't want to touch her, because of potential associated reputational damage. Isn't Reitmans a Canadian equivalent to M&S? Wouldn't have thought M now would fit their image, and the two of them aren't that popular in Canada anyway, are they?

OctopusFriend · 17/04/2026 10:26

@Puzzledandpissedoff - thank you for quoting me in your first paragraph.
I just cannot believe how lacking in compassion humanity they are.

The absolute last nail in the coffin for me was when a woman was telling her about how her baby had died (I think ) and Meghan completely ignored her.

I said somethng similar on a previous thread. People are calling this 'hiho' but it really isn't, for the reasons you say. No official greeting, no reception at the High Commission, no security escort and so on. Basically anyone with the cash could do this 'tour'.

And most importantly, Mergie's dropped significantly down the fashion chain. She's gone from elite designers (Dior, Givenchy etc) to clothes retailing for 100s - still expensive, but not really exclusive.

Yes. It's such an obvious fall in status. She used to have the top couture houses designing custom gowns for her. Now she's having to travel to Oz to merch obscure mid-range outfits.

Also, they've done 'tours' before. They did a fairly similar NY "tour" 5 years ago and it's got them nowhere. Probably because pseudo royal tours aren't really a thing.

I believe someone linked this on the PR disasters thread too, but just in case anyone was in any doubt as to why the Bondi outfit was so ill chosen:

This is why they need the men in suits around them. Whoever is advising them, if there are any, are clueless.

Can't believe how cut down her appearance at the girls weekend has become. EElyy dinner and off to a rugby game.

I do think this is interesting if it's true. Is she distancing herself from the event given the negative publicity, or vice versa? I am sure many of the women attending thought that Meghan would very much be a big part of the whole weekend - it's a very expensive event otherwise.
