Yes MM didn’t want C or G in the wedding party but the queen insisted.
MM probably didn’t want to be upstaged by them.

HMQ did M a favour there. If M had been able to leave a prince and princess, who the public are fond of, out of a royal wedding, it would have exposed early on what a nasty person she was. I think if it’s true she wanted to leave out her dh’s nephew and niece, when she had no blood relatives of her own to be in the wedding party, it shows that relations between the two couples were poor from early on.

Are H&M still in touch with any of the families or children who were bridesmaids and pageboys?

Three were the twin boys and daughter of her BF(F) Jessica Mulroney - who was very involved in MM life and wedding planning - then MM dumped her very publicly.

No idea who the others were - suspect PH associations - but don’t believe anyone is in touch with him - remember his 40th birthday guys weekend celebrations - that didn’t happen because he’s been cold shouldered?

HelenaWilson · 23/04/2026 09:19

Two goddaughters and a godson of Harry.

Most of H's friends from back then were also friends of William, I think. According to various accounts, H's friends didn't take to Meghan, nor she to them. Whereas they'd all known Catherine a long time. So when it came to deciding where their loyalties lay....

Jellybelly80 · 23/04/2026 11:17

One of the children on Harry’s side was his godchild, one of the Van Cutsem family. This is a family who’ve figured very heavily in William and Harry’s lifetime due to the very close friendship going back many decades between the late Hugh Van Cutsem and King Charles. The Van Cutsem Brothers and the Wales brothers are also very close even though there's been whispers things have changed a bit since the great escape.

robbie Williams daughter was a bridesmaid as well.

I think that was at Eugenia’s wedding?

Lunde · 23/04/2026 14:00

TBH I always wondered whether something had happened in the vestry as it seemed like George was crying coming down the aisle. He was constantly rubbing his eyes and hid behind William on the chapel steps. Even Camilla seemed concerned and turned and crouched to speak to him.

Charlotte looked serious but it was clear her shoes were uncomfortable.

HoldMyWine · 23/04/2026 14:00

Ah yes my bad. Now those were lovely bridesmaids dresses.

OrangeBlossomsinthesun · 23/04/2026 14:26

I don't really understand the tailoring thing. Why would she not want everyone to look their best, including her? On such a huge occasion she's the star of? Is it that she thinks she knows better? There was a YouTube video somewhere of someone looking at her style faux pas and lots seemed to be to do with wearing the wrong Under wear, like padded push up bras.

HelenaWilson · 23/04/2026 14:40

With a dress someone linked to earlier in the thread, you could see the shape of the bra under the dress. That's been the case with other things she's worn too. Really not a good look and I wouldn't be impressed if I had designed the dress. Another reason why top fashion houses might not want to work with her - she often doesn't show the garments to their best advantage.

LazyCatLtd · 23/04/2026 15:14

I can’t understand why she doesn’t look at the photos and see for herself that the underwear is not right and visible.

I agree, for someone who claims that she has a forensic eye for detail, it's very poor. You can clearly see the lines of her underwear, and that she's wearing a strapless bra, for example.
When she went to that last Commonwealth service, wearing the green dress, it was particularly noticeable.

Jellybelly80 · 23/04/2026 15:33

Meghans forensic eye for detail stopped working when she got Harry in her sights from across an ocean.

Some people honestly can’t see that their underwear is wrong and I suspect it’s because they were never shown how to choose underwear depending on what you are wearing. Then again there are those who just don’t care. With Meghan perhaps she didn’t live with her mum at that stage in life when you’d learn about these things but you’d think that she’d have cottoned in when being dressed by wardrobe depts, magazines and couture houses.

OctopusFriend · 23/04/2026 15:47

My Mum died when I was young. I was never "shown how to choose underwear". It was a hit and miss process of finding out, and looking in the mirror. If something looked see through, I wore a slip. If the bra straps were visible, I sized up.
This is rich a woman in her 40s with access to stylists and style advice. She's on the public stage. She should look better
As you said @Jellybelly80 - you'd think she'd cotton on with all her resources.

Jellybelly80 · 23/04/2026 16:39

@OctopusFriend Im sorry you lost your mum at a young age, and I can see that my first sentence didn’t allow for those who had to learn for themselves. I knew there was something missing from what I said but I couldn’t work out what it was.

eta - i had Covid in the middle of Feb that then became a urine infection followed by bronchitis. All in all it lasted 6 weeks and I’m still not over it mentally. I feel very foggy and not quite with it as the day goes on.

No apology necessary! Seriously, I didn't take offence, I was just making the point that you can learn these things as a grown woman! Meghan should have. Women's magazines were my tuition in many ways.
No worries.
I hope you get fully better soon 😊

LazyCatLtd · 23/04/2026 17:26

My mother never taught me anything about underwear. I used my common sense.

I wonder if it's just that she thinks she knows better than anyone. I mean, surely stylists have advised her? Something very strange about the whole wedding thing. Perhaps she pissed Givenchy off? Very strange to be having things done by third parties at the last minute.

HelenaWilson · 23/04/2026 18:44

You'd think for such a high profile occasion Givenchy would have had a team on hand for last minute fittings and alterations.

At Diana's and Catherine's weddings, the designers were there on the spot on the day, weren't they, making sure everything was ok. And another big wedding - was it the Westminster wedding? - the designer was there as the bride arrived for the ceremony.

Yes, that's absolutely correct. The head designer was there to check everything at all the other previous royal weddings. The Emanuels, Lindka Cierach, Sarah Burton, etc
Very odd.

My mother never taught me about underwear either. I fact i recall her sniggering at me when I wore a bathing suit that went completely see-through when wet at the age of 13 and I ran around with all my pubic hair showing. When another mother told me my mother just laughed and said 'I wondered when she'd finally look in the mirror'. *

I appreciate that this was NOT normal. MM with all her experience as an actress you would think would have a better eye. Or better advice.

*. Sorry, was triggered by a sudden memory
