M wasn’t picking up the bill so a bit surprising

This is true, @Mylovelygreendress, but she's the one who was actually working with the designer, and as we've often seen, Meghan working with others doesn't always end well

I suppose, IF there were issues, Givenchy could have walked away from the commission completely, but that wouldn't have looked good either if Meghan immediately briefed the media that such a premier house had "let the royal bride down"

I will admit I am childish and petty.

I really missed the demise of the flash soapies like Dynasty and Dallas in the 90s, but the Royal Family boldly stepped in and filled the gap for a while. Things gradually got pretty quiet, and then William got engaged and married, and I hoped things would pick up. However, I watched clips of Catherine and thought she comes across as so nice and genuine, and William seems besotted. I thought she is not going to put a foot wrong. I was pleased for them, but disappointed for me.

THEN, came Harry's engagement photos and I immediately thought this is going to bear watching, and was I right. Talk about the RF (or Harry and his missus, at least), giving us all the old Razzle Dazzle (razzle dazzle them) for quite a while. Sadly, though, they have become repetitive, dull and boring, and have lost their royal lustre, which was really the only thing they had to offer. Meghan hasn't got the skill to top Squidgygate.

Don't lose hope yet, when things used to get a bit dry in the 90s American soaps the producers used to lob in something like an alien abduction to liven it up. So might not be too long before Meg is offering our extraterritorial friends some jam and teaching them to be the very best versions of themselves and H is...also there.

Looking at it now - how did Meghan think it was ok?

I doubt if she cared . It was all about HER !

whattheflipz · 22/04/2026 13:05

I wonder which country they will torture next?

TheAutumnCrow · 22/04/2026 13:25

They could go to Israel. They visited the other two most recently-joined Invictus nations, Nigeria and Colombia. Israel joined in the same year as them (2022) and competed in 2023. The Israeli IDF, which now includes veterans from Israel’s military operations in Gaza and Lebanon, would presumably appreciate Harry’s assurances that they’ll receive a warm welcome in Birmingham in Harry’s home country.

Maybe H&M can meet Mikhail.

Financial backing for an Israeli team has already been sought from global charity Genesis Philanthropy Group (GPG), which was co-founded by London-based Russian oligarch Mikhail Fridman.

Mr Fridman was named in former MI6 officer Christopher Steele’s dossier alleging Kremlin links to US President Donald Trump and the billionaire last year appeared in a Spanish court accused of corruption and helping to orchestrate the bankruptcy of a technology firm. He denied the charges.

Luckily, all this billionaire’s court cases seem to miraculously evaporate. That’s the way to do it.

Didn't he antagonise the Israelis with his pronouncements when visiting Jordan?
I think there was a swift response.

Yes! , he said the aid corridor was closed, he was corrected and invited to visit and see for himself!!

Yes, that was it! What an idiot. Imagine making incorrect claims in such an unstable region.
Fool.

Yes, so he owes Israel a lovely visit from his good self.

Unless the Bondi fashion shoot visit was meant to represent his ‘thoughts and prayers’ in that direction? In his head, who knows what churns?

Would that not count as adding insult to injury?

God knows what clothing Meghan would attempt to merchandise in Israel.

I’d love to see the grillings he’d get from El Al security and border security at Ben Gurion. They don’t mess around.

My husband , who once worked for a company based in Tel Aviv , was once detained for several hours in Ben Gurion airport by security because "he was trying to smuggle two small weapons in the country " This went on for for long enough he was starting to get a bit worried. Eventually he realised what they meant and showed them . It was a pair of collar stiffeners he had put into a side pocket of his washbag. He didn't bother with them on subsequent trips. 😁

I was just pleased the security was so tight.

I still remember Bobby's 'dream in the shower' storyline!

Haha, even now I cannot bright that up in my mum's hearing as she'll still gets cross over the hours she wasted investing in that storyline!

Recklessismymiddlename · 22/04/2026 16:13

I’m old enough to still be cross about Bobby’s dream and that Fallon not being good enough for Jeff!

Hang on, in those wedding videos above, Charlotte and George aren't in the procession following H&M back down the aisle, unlike all the other children.
You can just see them behind Charles & Camilla, holding hands with William & Catherine. I have never seen this before at a wedding and can't imagine it was planned beforehand. Anyone know what happened to cause this apparent deviation from the plan?

Who knows but I noticed at the time Catherine was keeping a very tight hold on Charlotte and William was staying close to George. I thought it was a bit odd at the time. They didn't do that at Eugenie's wedding.

My memory is that the other children knew each other. Maybe they felt Charlotte was too young to be left with people she didn't know? I could be wrong though.

HelenaWilson · 22/04/2026 23:04

Charlotte was only 3.

And only just three, too. Just a couple of weeks past her birthday.

corblimeygvnr · 22/04/2026 23:48

Just a little tot.

Didn’t QE2 insist that Charlotte did it? I’m sure I read that somewhere.
