Beatrice and Eugenie banned from Ascot

Beatrice and Eugenie have been banned from the royal box at Ascot and from royal events in the foreseeable future. That's according to a headline in the Daily Mail. A little part of me feels a bit sorry for them as they're not their parents. I don't like them much but they do seem to symbolise all that's wrong with the royals. Money and immense wealth and priviledge for very little return.

Hmm the Easter Sunday service they are no longer attending may not even be broadcast anyway, what is it they will miss out on really? Well they miss out on all the booing and questions thay will get shouted at I suppose....

Says alot if even the cash strapped BBC is prioristing other shows over broadcasting a service the RF are attemding, I thought they were so popular people would want to see them?

The Easter service isn’t usually broadcast - they just film them walking to the chapel in Windsor - similar to the Christmas Day church walk but without the public walk about at the end.

I don’t remember the York daughters being regular Easter attendees though in previous years.

.

I don’t think it’s a stretch to consider that some family members and staff might t have treated Harry and William slightly differently seeing as it had happened on two previous generations.

Arjan · 31/03/2026 21:16

Maybe Harry was a right annoying little shit, so he was treated differently to his more mature brother, and nothing to do with who was going to be a King in 50 years.

I think it has been reasonably well documented that AMW was very concerned about B&E being Princesses of the blood. The huge numbers of holidays they took in their earlier years - I can't get too worked up about. Lots of rich DCs can take lots of holidays. The tax payer funded security for these jaunts , though , I think did need to stop. & it did to MW's chagrin. B&E aren't particularly young now & they can read about Epstein / their father as Trade Envoy as well as anyone else. I'm sure it's shocking to them but really I think they could have at least said they would put their earnings before an ethics committee. Why wouldn't they ? (That last question an exercise for the student 😉😂)

Unconscious sausage bias .
Well I never!

If I had been Pat, I would have made sure he got fewer sausages.

@TightlyLacedCorset about the Goldsmith student digs… I was thinking about that and remembered that neither of her parents had gone to uni themselves. They were clueless about lots of things anyway but would have had no idea about how students live, even posh ones.

Princesses of the blood
🤣
And Game of Thrones is filed under Fantasy...
The main problem with the holidaying, was that they did it in a similar vein to russian gangsters' kids, not British aristo kids. Most rich Brits stick to a few holidays a year, or their parents/employers/trust funds get fidgety. Swanning around isn't well regarded by anyone of any consequence whatsoever.

BasiliskStare · 31/03/2026 23:30

@BoudiccaRuled 😂
Will nobody think of the dragons.

I agree they were dashing around in a way that others , who prefer to be more private , would not. But it does seem to me that MW instilled a sense of entitlement into his daughters and neither of their parents gave them a particularly good example.

jeffgoldblum · 01/04/2026 00:51

Well as an apparent “fan” I’m finding all this ( faux) sympathy for extremely privileged people and children completely un tasteful! , no amount of money will stop the behaviour we have seen from certain people, if anything the more they have the more they want! , republicans ( apparently) need to check their bias because it’s becoming increasingly clear that for some people “monarchy “ is a good thing for their favourites and a bad thing for those they dislike!

Totallyfedupnow · 01/04/2026 00:53

yes @BasiliskStare I was also struck by the holidaying. That kind of frequency, to so many different places, is unusual. The only people I know of who take 18 overseas holidays a year are a certain kind of ultra rich, the kind who have inherited wealth, who don’t have any responsibilities and who are restless and purposeless. (Dodi Al Fayed is a good example). It shows how detached from reality their upbringing was, that they thought that behaviour was OK even though the Yorks didn’t have anywhere near that kind of money.

All a bit obscene really

The Mail are reporting that they will now be invited to Ascot and future Royal events. It just makes Charles look weak.

They can’t in any recognisable way work in their ‘jobs’ if they take that much time off. It really is a nonsense to claim they work at all.

I somehow doubt this . Wonder who leaked that ??

That’s surely an April Fool article the DM has published?

CrocusesFlowering · 01/04/2026 08:25

The Mail and the Mail on Sunday have been instrumental in uncovering the AMW and Epstein scandal. They have also been to the fore in investigating the RF grifters including the Tindalls and Ed and Sophie.

It would have gone like this:
DM: Are B&E invited to Ascot?
Palace press officer: No
DM: Are they invited to Commonwealth Day?
PO: No
DM: Easter?
PO: No
DM: So are they banned from everything from now on until the end of time?
PO: I didn’t say that.
DM: So if they are not banned from everything forever, they might still be invited next year?
PO: Yes, I suppose so.

ShamedBySiri · 01/04/2026 08:57

How does it work with security (back when they had it)? They get to trail around the 18 holidays charging overtime etc? Lurking at the back of the yacht?
I hadn’t thought about it before but when they were living in student lodgings (not Bea in her St James palace apartment) Eugenie must have rented somewhere and William was in a big student house with Kate and others - are security meant to be lurking somewhere in the house? Or sat in a car outside all night? Not saying it wasn’t necessary, at least for William, but the concept of being trailed wherever you go throughout one’s student life is a bit mind blowing. Do they go into lectures with them and sit at the back? I think I remember something a long time ago Bea did the London marathon and security came too, I remember thinking tough gig.

Totallyfedupnow · 01/04/2026 10:17

The PPOs had to have special accom
in William’s hall of residence at St Andrew’s and in his student house. And yes they would sit in the back of lectures. They are quite discreet though - they wear mufti to fit in and kind of blend into the background at a distance although they have to have “eyes on” in most circumstances. These days their main job is to tell people not to take photos.
