Beatrice and Eugenie banned from Ascot

Beatrice and Eugenie have been banned from the royal box at Ascot and from royal events in the foreseeable future. That's according to a headline in the Daily Mail. A little part of me feels a bit sorry for them as they're not their parents. I don't like them much but they do seem to symbolise all that's wrong with the royals. Money and immense wealth and priviledge for very little return.

I think that’s probably the best option for her, stay out of the way, keep her head down and maybe stay away from dodgy Middle East businesses?

She should have done that from day one. But she made ridiculous blunders like "Tea with Princess Beatrice of York" out in Saudi literally straight after awful news breaking about her parents.
She could have cancelled that. She chose not to.
And publicly with her father on horses with her child. Again, it was two days after horrendous headlines. She chose to send out a message of support for him.
But she's a York, so we can expect no less

I wonder if Eugenie and Jack foresaw the fallout with her parents and decided to put distance between themselves. They both looked radiant at their wedding. It seemed to have a real happy vibe from my watching on telly.

There is also talk of Beatrice being naive, is this a spin or genuine I wonder.

Indigovelvet · 28/03/2026 13:00

If it's true that Beatrice and Edo are considering living in the U.S, then the marrriage might be more solid than we have been told. Or it's a strategy to find a safe place for now - they have two kids.

Mylovelygreendress · 28/03/2026 13:09

Would they move to the US when Edo’s son lives in the U.K. ?

You’d hope not. But the US speculation may be fluff and waffle in order to start dropping another suggestion.

Hidden right inside, near the end of the somewhat regurgitative article:

The source said: ‘The question now though is whether he’s used his royal connections excessively, he entered a very different world to what he was used to, when he married Beatrice.

Otherwise there’s nothing new there that I can see - it’s more idle speculation, ‘ooh, they may go the US to get their marriage “back on track”, may see Harry, Eugenie likes Portugal dontcha know’.

But Edo being a grifter … sounds like they’re trawling for leads, leaks and hints.

Currently watching Channel 5 Beatrice and Eugenie Caught in..
no idea what the rest of the title is as doesn’t come up. So far seems puff tv.

Mightn't that open her up to potential official questioning about Epstein given the information in the files?

I can't see any York braving the land of the free any time soon.

BBC News.

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie will not be attending the Royal Family's traditional Easter Sunday church service at Windsor Castle.

It is understood that the daughters of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson have made "alternative plans" for Easter.
King Charles and Queen Camilla will be at the Easter Matins service, with the Prince and Princess of Wales also expected to attend, having missed it last year.
The Easter gathering at St George's Chapel is an annual event in the royal diary, with members of the family facing photographers as they arrive for the church service.
While they might not be attending this Easter, the door has been left open for the princesses to attend future royal events and "family celebrations", such as the Christmas gathering at Sandringham.
The sisters' absence from attending the service in the 15th Century chapel is understood to be with the agreement of the King.

Whatever KCIII thinks of his nieces - I do think it would be prudent to put in place measures to make sure they are paying a proper market rent for the KP cottage and the apartment in St James Palace. It's not like they aren't comfortably off. & to back up the ethics review of their income. I'm not saying the sins of the father should be visited on the daughters , but with the amount of questions about the York family finances I am surprised this wouldn't be a priority - not least by B&E to make sure they are absolutely squeaky clean.

Which is why it was a mistake for them not to agree to an ethics check on their investments.

TightlyLacedCorset · 30/03/2026 22:49

Wow! So whom will there be left to face the photographers?

It's all becoming very pared down, isn't it.

Perhaps it's time to have M&H back to provide some 'bulk'

I don't know if I ought to feel sorry for KCIII or not. He's a so called Monarch, he might not be able to intervene directly in political affairs, but why did he not put pressure to hear on his nieces to be transparent earlier? There's been a lot of refusing to take the horse by the reins, starting with QEII who couldn't be more different from her namesake!

Not a great situation to be dealing with at his age.

Totallyfedupnow · 31/03/2026 00:21

Nobody wants “bulk” in the RF right now.

Choux · 31/03/2026 00:33

Charles was banging on about slimming the visible royal family down 20 years ago. Andrew and family out of sight helps with that. Only working royals will ever appear on the Buck House balcony going forwards. A few more at Easter and Christmas church services as they are traditional UK family days.

i imagine William will be king within 10 years and he will make further changes to protect the monarchy for his children. Anyone with a sniff of scandal will be pushed out.

Exactly!

We cannot have that royal balcony with all of them posh gits waving to the plebs down below.

As a country we are so much better than this surely

True.

I'm speaking more from the RF perspective so to speak

Totallyfedupnow · 31/03/2026 01:11

There is a reason for the balcony - it’s so anyone who wants to see the royals (and a lot of people still do), can. If they were standing outside in the car park, only a few hundred people would get a look. Same reason why US Presidents are generally inaugurated on a high platform above the steps of the Capitol.

Getting H+M back is perhaps not the best idea right now, given their close friendship with a man accused of sex crimes 😬

Totallyfedupnow · 31/03/2026 01:16

@TightlyLacedCorset so long as William is asking the questions, H&M are never going to be the answer. Anne too would rather snort vodka from a teaspoon.

It looks like the balcony might be considerably too large if family members keep getting siphoned off at this rate.

@noonames I forgot about that! But W&K will simply not be able to do all public appearances on their own. They simply cannot do it. Like it or not Meghan thrives under the camera, she's a natural for that, she was never intimidated by the cameras due to her acting background, that was an asset and Harry seems (to me) to be desperate to come back and get some exposure for himself. I think he misses it here.

From W&K perspective, I don't see how slimming down works in their favour either. Anne is old, the boomer Royals are on their way out. You need more relatives for things like Christmas walks and PR. Slimming down transfers a lot of burden to Williams children. The Royal Family have been getting booed recently, imagine dealing with that at every charity gig because you have no one else to share the duties with. It's not fair to the children

Perhaps Eugenie and Beatrice should have been brought into the fold much earlier, and had they been working Princesses before all this, possibly it might have kept them on the straight and narrow. Possibly having titles without any real expected reciprocal working expectation has ruined them.

Lady Louise doesn't appear to be showing any interest in ever becoming a working Royal, for now, but if she follows her mother's footsteps, she might perhaps pivot that way.

Totallyfedupnow · 31/03/2026 01:48

I imagine the balcony itself will get smaller.
There will be fewer in-person appearances at ribbon cuttings and long overseas tours, more social media clips and podcasts.

Are we talking Epstein and Andrew here, or what?
